The story mode and chapters bit has me mighty curious though. Are they using the same formula? I took 4 years of German in HS and that should count for something but unfortunately I haven't maintained my studies.

I just can't believe that it would only ship with 24 characters. It should ship with at least 28-30 IMO. Of course, some would argue with the three variations a piece that the roster should be smaller so it can be well balanced...

There's no need for Johnny, Sonya, and Cassie, and Liu Kang has always been a snore. Even if the roster is 28+ as Ed hinted to Polygon, I want to see some more goddamn post-Trilogy characters get some love.

As long Tanya and/or Reiko is in (hopefully both), I don't mind who else makes it to MKX's main roster. Sure, I have my preferences of what characters I'd like in and who I don't, but as long these two make it in, I'll be happy. ^^

Haha. I've always liked Liu Kang. I've liked playing as him since the days of MKII on my Genesis as a kid. I was hoping he would return. I want his arcade ending to pan out somehow. I want to see evil fire god Liu Kang, dangnabbit!

Well at this point we know know that we have the 7 original playable characters from MK1 returning. So for that 8th character slot for MKT characters I would guess Ermac is the most likely.

Of course...now hear me out here...if Sub-Zero IS somebody new under the mask...is it possible that NRS could be counting him in the 14 'new' characters? That would open up another slot for another MKT character.

28 would be ideal. If they're sticking with 4 DLC. I don't particularly want a crowded roster though. I like the "exclusiveness" of MKDA and MKD. I feel like it allows them to build a more solid foundation for character development and story, especially for the direction MK is headed in.

But ya know if they've had all the time they need to make that happen with 28+, I won't be bummed.

Yeah Mileena probably would be the most likely for that extra slot for an MKT character. She has a story reason to be back around, she survived MK9, she's fairly popular etc.

Yeah, that was my general sense of the article as well. On the 24 characters point, though I think the writer was playing the E3 build with the dummy roster--NRS has confirmed elsewhere that there will be more characters than that.

Seriously, 24 characters and most of them will either be new(which I don't mind actually) or spaces will be taken up by unnecessary people like Sonya, Johnny, Liu, and Kano. Sigh. How fucking boring. What in the hell is the point of Cassie if Sonya and Johnny will be in? They should be DLC at the very least.

This is shaping up to have a sucky cast when it comes to the alumni.
