Sonya Blade - fights Kano in a dream/flashback
Sonya Blade = Fights A new Black dragon character in the future.
Sonya Blade = Fights D'vorah in the present.
This would still be bad.

There are flashbacks. The story mode takes places after Mortal Kombat 9, 5 years later, 10 years later and 25 years later. That is 4 periods of time that the character can fight in with large gaps in time so there obviously will be more meaningful fights and less contrived ones.

The more attention you give him, the more shit he spews out.
So please, let us just get on with it.

Even if they lose die hard fans in the process, the casuals outweigh them by a significant margin. You think MK9 sold as well as it did because of us die hard MK fans? Not a chance.
Casuals are what ultimately keeps MK afloat.

You can't help but notice she has a punching bag vibe to her.

No, I am glad she has an important role and isn't just some punching bag as many here thought she would be. I'm glad they were proved wrong, because though a minion, it shouldn't mean just being there to be smacked into the ground. One of the major mistakes of MK9's story mode, imo. It's always sad to see your favourite character be mistreated like that compared to other characters. E.g. Reptile and Baraka have always been quite cool in my book, but in MK9 they were just there to be kicked in the face. :/
Hopefully NRS learn from their mistakes.

No, but since her announcement, she has been dubbed a "forgettable lackey" by some users. I myself have been really excited about D'Vorah and cannot wait to use her.

I just ignore all of those comments.
Why judge so quickly when you haven't even gotten a chance to play as her?
But I too am glad that she has somewhat of an importance in the story, since she and Kotal are supposed to be working together. Never really would have thought that.
Now I'm kinda interested in knowing what they'd say to each other when you fight them.

I really don't get that vibe from her. She seems far too interesting a character to just be a punching bag, imo.

I'm a bit disappointed in how they plan to make Story Mode in chapters again. It just seems a bit forced, but hopefully they will do a better job this time around.
I had initially hoped Story Mode would be character based - you choose a character from the roster, then plays his/her point of view of the story from start to end. But oh well, we'll see how it plays out. ^^

Forced is one of many great words for it. I'd much prefer the character's point of view route. Hella more insight, which is essentially hella more development. But I'd like to think (and hope) they're paying more attention to EACH character's unique story/persona this time around. Not just their contribution to the main plot-line.
And I'm excited about D'Vorah. Her and Kotal are the two that caught and have retained my attention since E3. Whatever her role, I just hope it's not "D'Vorah is to Kotal as Sindel is to Shao Kahn".

And it's already confirmed she's going to have a prominent role in the story. I'd actually be pleasantly surprised if I didn't feel so meh about her.

Aww, sorry feel meh about her. Personally, I've always wanted an insect/spider like character in MK, so it's cool to see NRS having created D'Vorah. The four stingers, the exoskeleton, her poisonous... erh... goo?
Plus she's got a very unique name compared to the other MK character which intrigues me. ^^

It's funny 'cause those things you listed are precisely what keeps me from outright hating her. Her appearance and gameplay are fucking fantastic. It's her high-pitched voice and apparent personality that I really dislike. :/

I wouldn't say she had a "punching bag" vibe like Baraka or Reptile but she definitely reminded me of Nitara, a character who looked interesting and had a detailed subplot, but that subplot was almost completely disconnected from the actual story of the game.
So the fact that D'Vorah is Kotal's partner is somewhat a relief.

Kotal wanted her to "Bee" his.
Looks like Kotal got bit by the "Love Bug".
Kotal might have just had "Butterflies".
If Kotal had a favourite bug, it would certainly be his "lady bug".
Okay, I'm done. haha.
