The thing is, NRS can retcon literally any character and make them: a) fun, b) relevant to the story, and c) an overall good character. So, I say why not. Despite the fact that retcons are terrible, but this is a video game. Not to mention a fighting one.

I find it kinda funny how some people say Frost was just a Sub-Zero clone and will continue to be so. Frost and Sub-Zero's movesets were much more different from each other in Deadly Alliance / Unchained / Armageddon than Ermac and Kenshi in Deception / Unchained / Armageddon. It wasn't until the newest Mortal Kombat when Kenshi was DLC did they have a much more different move set from each other. They can very easily do the same with Frost. As a few others have said in this post and in other places, Killer Frost is a great example of how creative NRS can get with cryomancer type characters. Not to mention Frost never joined the Lin Kuei this time around, so she could have a completely revamped look with a revamped move set.

People seriously forget how many characters we have that wields fire and yet they all play completely different from one another.
Literally, the only move that Frost has that is the same as Sub-Zero's appearance wise and how it affects the character is the ice puddle that she got in Armageddon. That is it.
Her slide move has her entire self sliding underneath her opponent rather than stopping at the ankle. Her ground freeze freezes the entire ground not just in one spot. Also, she has a teleport punch. Similar moves yet acts completely different from Sub-Zero's.
What's even funnier is that she was ACTUALLY supposed to be in Mortal Kombat 2, TAKING OVER Sub-Zero's spot as the ice character. But for unknown reasons, they decided against that. And to back my case up before any one gets pissed off and demands that I reveal where and how I got that, look up her bio card, they explain everything about this character, who has the longest video out of all the characters.
Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me at all if she returns whether she makes a brief cameo or is an actual character for X. She's a favorite among some of the developers, and we know how well those kind of characters get treated.
Some people really just don't like her, and it's really because they think she's a clone, despite no matter how many times people PROVE them wrong, they'll continue to act stubborn and just be like "my opinion" and shit.
Fan girl rant over.

I have to completely agree with you here. Not only that, but in my personal opinion, out of all the 3D characters, Frost is the one they can revamp the most. Not just move wise, but story wise as well. It's quite obvious she doesn't join the Lin Kuei in this new timeline, so she can have a whole new look. And who's to say she doesn't end up joining the Special Forces after her encounter with Cassie. But that's if she is still alive. I can see Cassie choosing not to kill her. But I'm afraid she might die, hoping against however.
Thank you Triptych229 and Icebaby! two other people who see it as it really is!
Also I did not know a lot of that info you shared about Frost Icebaby. I knew she was a dev fav, but did not realize her bio vid was one of the longest or that she was a MKII possibility.... her chances seem to better than I thought!

Frost's problem is her look not her moves, she looks too similar to a female sub-Zero. Fix the look and it'll be fine... o and maybe grow some longer hair. butch cut aint cutting it
Well... she was dressed as Lin Kuei so it would make sense for her to look similar towards Sub-Zero.
And since the comic is making her seem like an underground fighter who's wearing a sports bra and black shorts, I doubt she'll have any problems looking similar towards Sub-Zero
And what's wrong with her hair? I thought the slick, spiked, mist-covered hair was one of her most distinguishing features of her entire character.

NRS loved her hair as well. I think it would look better longer, but it may take away from the look. And yeah, the fact that she's not part of the Lin Kuei in this timeline, it's a guarantee she'll have a new look (except for her hair of course).

I don't know if my eyes are playing tricks on me but I thought I saw Frost in the trailer. I saw Kung Lao in the air and hitting a person in the air that resembles Frost and no it isn't Sub-Zero I saw.

Hmm... I didn't see any semblance of Frost in the trailer. Lao sure did kick Quan Chi into high heaven, though
