Ermac
That scarecrow look fit MKX which is probably why people think it's legit, but it's a bit of a departure from Ermac's past looks.
Besides the 3 'variations' he drew merely could've meant 'versions', I recall it saying v.1, v.2, v.3 but not specifically variation. That's what happens in concept art drawings, just different ideas. Why would all of Ermac's variations change just his head instead of something like glowing hands, a cape, maybe his talisman thing, etc. ?

True it is captioned with v1 v2 and v3. It could stand for "version", true. But to the "why change his head instead of something else" comment; I point your attention to D'Vorah. Who in one of her variations does not adorn a hood. The 3 versions of Ermac in the renders are of him 1.) with a hood 2.) without hood 3.) with hood, without face (basically just a hollow hood)
He looks most like a reaper in the last version (a reaper of souls?) with no face.

At the risk of looking like a total moron, I'm going to dig up a thread that hasn't been touched for a month, only because I read a discussion on Shoryuken today in which someone had a farfetched but interesting concept:
Should Ermac make it into the new game, what if he now possessed the souls of everyone who was killed at the end of MK9?

That would make him a great candidate for the "surprise returning character" boss. It makes me wonder how that worked out between him and Quan Chi. If Quan can now possess and enslave souls and Ermac is, supposedly, no longer bound by Kahn's magic, wouldn't Quan Chi just be able to enslave Ermac and it's inhabitants?

Personally I would love for Ermac to come back. He is one of the characters that I can honestly say I would be pretty disappointed if he wasn't in MKX. I have a feeling he will make the cut ;) I hope he gets a costume similar to his alternate in MK2011, I love the hooded look.

Congratulations! You just found the next addition to the list of MK plot holes that will likely never be addressed.
Interesting thought, if the team ever considers it.

I am really hoping for Ermac. I think I might want ermac over Reptile at this point. eh, idk, thats a tough call. I just think that ermac had one of the best move sets in mk9 and it can be overhauled to look AMAZING in mkX.

I am not sure how I would feel about this. If your saying he should be the next chameleon character where he obtains the past characters abilities. I would HATE the idea. If it is merely a plot line, i would be ok with it.
Chameleon characters in any fighting game (almost every franchise has had them.) are the WORST.

Lol, like it's hard...
I do hope Ermac returns though. Since Rain's chances of inclusion have dwindled, Ermac is next up on the list. Under Reptile, of course. If Ermac is in, I hope we get a more in-depth look at his alignment change, or his "enlightenment".

He then can become somewhat like Shang Tsung. Ermac can still have all his telekinesis along with being able to morph into those dead characters. Hope he also attains a soul steal fatality.

Well, he doesn't necessarily have to assume their abilities. He could just simply contain their souls within (which in turn could help in explaining his patchwork concept outfit) in hopes of reuniting them with their owners, which probably sounds like a retread of Deception, not that I'd mind.
Since someone had mentioned Quan Chi, he himself would figure into this story by (naturally) wanting the souls for himself. Voila, instant rivalry that I'd go gaga over. As much as I positively adore Ermac, he needs something to do in the storyline.
