No, Raiden says "They care only about what is in your heart. Not whom your heart desires." That doesn't apply to thieving in the least. The implication is that the Shaolin won't accept him because of "whom his heart desires." It's nothing to do with being a thief, and everything to do with the way he rolls.

Nope. They confirmed he was gay on twitter.
I don't see what the fuss is either, I really don't care that he's gay. I mean, it's cool for people who care about that kind of stuff but it's not a big deal to me. Kung Jin is still a lame character imo, although I enjoy playing as him.

The fact it's a video game is why it's notable.
The video game market is dominated by young males, most of which are busting out with hormones, immaturity and machismo. Some of the biggest homophobes that exist are young male gamers.
If it were movies or tv, yeah no big deal. Not too surprising seeing a gay person represented in that type of media. You almost never see any sort of homosexual representation in video games, let alone a game like MK. The fact they did it, and did it so tastefully is an important thing. That they didn't do it for attention or commendation is everything. If people want to be upset about it, that's their problem. It merits discussion on the part of people who want to discuss it, rather than NRS saying "LOOK AT HOW MODERN WE ARE." Just that it's making these kind of waves at all means that it's something that should be talked about.

We will not KILL them because they are GAY. Killing any life is prohibit in my religion except doing that for to protect yourself; like kill some animal for food.

I don't see where "killing" is mentioned anywhere because of Kung Jin's sexuality

Fans are stupid. Hell. Look how many times its been pointed out that Liu Kang is referring to Jin's time as a thief and not his sexuality. Proclivity means a habit. It has nothing to do with sexuality. Unless Jin is a man-whore who is constantly having sex than Liu is referring to his time as a thief.

And how many times do people need to post the Twitter confirmation?
Liu could very well mean his thieving nature in those intros, but that's not the only basis for all of this. You need to examine all the pieces before you can try to put the puzzle together.

The twitter post has nothing to do with the intro.

I was only able to get through the first wall of text in this article (the article itself), so I'll just stick to commenting on that.
This is very well-written and hits every nail on the head. NRS (of all studios) did a fantastic job of handling Kung Jin, and hopefully other game developers and writers begin to take note.
MK, by virtue of its campy, off-the-wall nature, has always had a significant LGBTQ fanbase (I would even dare to say more notably than those of Tekken or Street Fighter), so I think it's really cool that NRS decided to give them some representation.
For all of the rest of Story Mode's pitfalls, this is probably one of my favorite scenes, if not my favorite.

Here's what I think the dialogue means:
Kung Jin says Liu never could accept him believing it to be because of him being gay.
But Liu Kang means his life as a thief (and was probably caught and branded as a criminal, others refer to him as a thief).
But Kung Jin thinks its him being gay.
