As long as the character is not included in the canon, it doesn't bother me. I rather liked Freddy in MK9.

There is only one downside and it is enough to argue.

It takes away the potential for another character that an ocean of fans really want to see or a seriously awesome new character with potential.

I'm sure that even if the fans got every single one of their favorites in the game, if a guest still made the cut, they'd probably wonder why they couldn't get Mokap instead. Or that big guy beating on the drum in that MK:DA background.

Why do y'all keep saying this? Was the last game your first Mortal Kombat?

Because one console always gets a worse character tbh.

As for the DLC guest, I hope it's somebody good.

But with console exclusives we're FORCED to have to get them. I hate that. DLC guests are fine because I have a choice.

Um...why?

Taking up the spot of a potential character, either new or returning, maybe? :/

I would rather have Kratos again than the majority of the MK3-Trilogy-MK4 newcomers. Seriously, I could not care about Reiko and Shinnok even if they paid me.

Well, thank fuck you're probably in the minority there.

Nobody said you had to use that character. You might play against them in the Arcade ladder every once in a while, but that's it. They're not hurting the brand or the experience. Matter of fact they are beneficial.

This.

I didn't play as Kratos that much because I wasn't fond of his gameplay at all. However, nothing forced me to play as him. I didn't mind at all that he was in the arcade mode. Heck, would it have bothered me if he was in story mode? No, I would have found that quite laughable because it really would have made my day.

I'm also tired of hearing "because it takes away a spot for a character." What character deserves more of a chance to be in than a different character? Every character has a 50/50 chance on making it in, it's not like one has more of a chance than others. And, everyone who's going to be in this game has been planned from the start. It's their roster, not ours.

Again, no one is forcing you you buy DLC, to get very angry about one measly guest character as a DLC is quite silly. If you don't need to get it, then don't worry about it.

A character that's actually from this franchise? But yeah I agree actually, roster is more than likely one of the first things decided upon.

For me they are. I'm not alone either. Of course they're going to sale well and of course people would be fine with it- but there's always the rest of us who don't want to have non-mk characters in our game.

So I applaud them making the guest DLC. It's a way of making everyone happy- not just what you want. I want to play Mortal Kombat- not Super Smash Bro with blood.

I think the main point about "they take away a roster spot" is this:

- If they spend resources on a guest character, that's time and work used on something that isn't related to the main universe. It's a guest character, a lot of people will see it as breaking the game universe in the first place, and even if they don't, it isn't moving the game forward because it's something that won't be ever related to the story and probably won't appear ever again.

- If they spend the same exact amount of time and resources on a character, returning or new, liked or not, that belongs to the MK universe, it's time and work used on something that makes the game move forward, bringing new elements to the story and making it richer with the possibility of seeing more of that character and his impact on the overal story in future games.

Same exact amount of work, the first one won't help the game moving forward and many fans won't like it because it doesn't belong to the game universe, the second one belongs to the universe and can be a tool to move multiple stories and characters forward.

If they have enough time and resources to make an extra character, I will always prefer a character that belongs to the game universe even if it isn't a character that I like.

I really don't understand peoples hate of Kratos.. He's a god so he fits with MK's mythology.. He's a fighter and he's violent.. As far as "guests" go, I thought he was pretty good.

I'm all for guest characters as long as we get a big roster of MK characters.

My guess is that we will get someone from DC that would fit MK's violence and wouldn't be a console exclusive.. Like Lobo or Deathstrike. Also.. Guests are lucrative money makers.. You want WB to give money and resources to NetherRealm to make the best games possible, guests enable that. Accept that they aren't going away and hope they give us one worthy of MK

So you're telling me that a character that you'll never use and has no place in the canon ruins the ENTIRE game for you? I just want to know if I'm reading that right. If that's true, that seems extremely anal. But if that's how you feel then that's fine.

And I wouldn't say it pleases everyone. Even with guests as DLC, with online play there's a chance you'd still have to face them. So unless you play exclusively offline or quit before a match starts, you might end up playing against a guest character.

Plus it ruins the chance of having some pretty cool characters in MK that can't appear on other platforms due to licensing. Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal is a perfect fit for MK. And KI fans will probably never see a crossover between KI and MK. But a KI character appearing in MKX is about as close as they'll get. Granted, I haven't watched the interview because I'm on my iPod, so he might have debunked console exclusive guests altogether.

I think he did pretty much. We'll just agree to disagree. Like I said I'm fine with having a guest- I just like having the option of rather or not I want to see them on my select screen is all. To each their own. *shrugs*

Hoping it's either Predator or Spawn.
Not Predator, for one he is a 20th Century Fox property , not WB's. I don't even want that guy in the game, and I like Predator. I just don't want that fucking thing in an MK game. I only want Ash from Evil Dead, even though he isn't even owned by WB. He's the only character i'd be happy with. Other than Hellboy.

D'Vorah looks like she belongs in MK. I fail to see what makes her so out of place in people's mind. In a game full of four armed tigers, cyborgs, and vampires, an insect lady is hardly a big deal.

Really? So the most hated characters that not everyone wants to see back has more of a deserving chance for a DLC spot than a guest character? Especially since their last guest character was the most paid? I mean, Mokap has a deserving chance??? And he could be something that will give them money?

I get that the company is doing well and that but... god forbids that a character that you don't need to get at all has been planned to be released as DLC. And there are people out there who still want a crossover with Street Fighter....

I'm glad i played MK9 on 360 because Kratos is a shitty character, and from what i've seen he was popular. But for MKX i'll probably go Sony, so if we get a guest character, i hope it's a cool one. Xbox should get a KI character, they're cool characters and some like Sabrewulf or Spinal or Orchid may fit.

*facepalm*

Why would NRS waste their time and resources fleshing out unpopular characters like Mokap in the first place? Do you really fucking think they'd even get a shot at being in the roster? And I was talking about guest characters being in the initial roster, not as DLC, so I don't even know what you're trying to argue here.
