You know, I really thought long and hard about this and I've come to the following decision...

Call it blind optimism, but I truly believe that any character can be salvaged, even the most unpopular ones (Reiko, Stryker, etc.). All it takes is some time and a little effort. Just killing a unpopular character for good is almost like the developers saying "all right, we don't like this guy anymore, so let's toss him out and add such and such". I believe that's part of the reason why Deception was saturated with such generic new characters (with the exception of Havik, but the whole Shao Kahn thing may have screwed that up too). I mean, what are the chances of Darrius, Hotaru, Dariou, and Kira appearing in MK7? I for one am afraid that with Boon's promises of the largest MK roster ever, we'll just be given more bland additions that will be forgotten games later, instead of them trying to repair the ones they already have.

That's what I think at least.

Am I the only one who sees the minor versatility in MKD's newcomers? I mean, mostly the seidans are underdeveloped, but for example: who did we have as a zealot as of yet? No one. Dairou was also a good addition: a self serving mercenary. Untill MKDA all character were plain and bland when considering their aims: henchmen, heroes, assassins, sorcerers, undead, and nothing more exciting.

I advise Boon and co to focus more on MKD's newbies and continue their traits. (and skip cheezefest concepts about their endings. My god, aside from showing how powerful they are, they basicly did nothing unless it is being another spinoff ending-example: Hotaru)

Literal fact: if there is a basis. You can't save a concept that doesn't exist coherently (Reiko: no end, no beginning).

What was Reiko's story? i hate reiko along with some of the other worthless newbies. But, whatever happened to reiko? what was his beginning and what was his end?

All that is known for certain about Reiko is he was a general in Shinnok's army. He led Shinnok's army into battle against the gods and was thought to have been killed during the battle, but mysteriously returned afterward. At some time in his life he was a minion of Shao Kahn. It was also briefly and vaguely hinted he had some sort of connection to Sareena.

That's it.

thas a weird dude. Especially on his mk4 ending where he walks through the portal and thas it. frickin weird. note to self, stay away from reiko. jk. another weird dude is jarek. he shows up, starts crap with sonya, dissapears. in mk7 he oughta show up and fight kano, and kabal for the owner ship of the black dragon, and some how the red dragon gets involed in it, but i don't know how.

Jarek is dead, and one of the least likely characters for a comeback. He was a strong fighter to play as, and I kinda like this guy. But he was basically Kano minus the bionic eye, and was pretty much there as a killable goon. Despite my soft spot for him, Jarek is best kept as a one hit wonder, imo, like Hsu Hao, his time in MK is finished, there's no more purpose he can really serve.

In MK4/MKG, Jarek was supposed to be the last Black Dragon alive (later retconned when we found out Kano was alive and well), and was being chased by Sonya, and he was also probably Kano's only genuine friend. He actually joined in to fight against Shinnok, rather than let him invade Earth. But after Shinnok lost, Jarek wouldn't turn himself in to custody, and tried to attack Sonya on a mountain top. He missed, and fell off the edge to his death.

IMO i kinda like dark raiden, cuz he can open up a whole new story line. Good Guy Go Bad, classic. Maybe thats what mk7 will be about.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that all pre-MK5 (yeah, I still label them by numbers) games were plain and bland, but they weren't anywhere as elaborate as where MK5 and MK6 took them.

And being a sorcerer, undead and et cetera aren't aims, they're character descriptions. And suitable ones at that.

If anything, they should look at pre-MK5 games for characters with massive untapped potential, i.e. Shinnok, Fujin, possibly redo Reiko, Stryker (another member of Special Forces), Kai, Sektor, and the list goes on. We saw where they were able to take a character like Quan Chi from that pathetic shit in MK4, and how magnificent they do character costume revamps like Ermac and Smoke, so I do believe they have latent possibilities.

You're right. They can make shit and turn it into gold, like they did with quan-chi. I'll admit it, back then when i was 8 and playing 4, i used to call him quan-suck-a-chi, or quan-chi-chi. funny, yes? I'm looking for a Shinnok revamp. he has so much potential, its not funny, okay maybe it is, hahahaha. They could use his normal body from mk4 as a sub-boss and use his demon form from mkmsz for the main boss. he is a fallen god, he has a shitload of potential, like, maybe he could possess someone, or beat the crap out of kenshi's ancestors and guide him, him thinking that it is his ancestors guiding him, but that sound like a shujink*ho* *cough*. i really need sum cough medicine.

IMO I really don't think that Frost would be coming back. In Deadly Alliance she was frozen, and in Deception, she was still dead, meaning that her death was canon. But maybe someone will like block the heavens and her soul will come back to her body like Johnny Cage. I really don't want another character ripoff. I really like anologies, here is one right here.

Basically the same. Unless they gave frost this really cool makeover like quan-suck-a-chi. She could be like a bad dudette. She could team up with either Sektor or Noob and be their tag partners, or better yet, she becomes a wraith like noob. that would be badass, imagine yourself in the dark, bitchblack, i mean pitchblack, you're freezin your ass off, and in the corner you see these to blue eyes bouncing around and coming closer to you. you flip on the switch and all you see is a shadow of a woman with blue eyes, then, you wake up in heaven with ice cubes in your pocket. shweet. kickass story.

Howabout this, make up a entirely new storyline for any character that you hate and need to be revamped, if anybody has a different Frost idea don't be afraid to type it and post it, i'll only cuss you out if you type wrong on purpose or don't make in total sense.

I don't really like sindel. she's hot and all, but her story line isn't that good. I could live without sindel.

Here's my list of the damned:
1. Frost- she was unoriginal, let's face it. She played differently, but the concept of a female Sub-Zero (that's all she'll ever be known as) just didn't fly. Maybe if she had been that long-lost sister Sub-Zero supposedly has/had, but they said she wasn't. She died and should stay dead.
2. Jarek- He vanished into obscurity. An unoriginal joke with potential that will never happen.
3. Dairou- I don't know. He was just an ugly character with okay movies but no real drive to the storyline.
4. Darrius- Sorry, the token black-guy role goes to Jax alone. He wasn't designed well or had much lasting influence.
5. Liu Kang- DA's intro was bold and daring... and not completely worthless. Kung Lao's chances with 10,000 year old princess get dashed to pieces again.
6. Kai- Not much to say about him. I forget his name sometimes. That's bad.
7. Shinnok- What a waste of potential. Evil Elder God my @$$... he was lame in design and fighting style.
8. Shang Tsung- Just kill him. He should have never made it past MKI.
9. Goro- As much as I love the four-armed freak, he's like a good dog who won't stay down.
10. Shunjinko- He sucks because he's too good. That guy from "Kill Bill" also wants his hairdo back.

shinnok had the coolest story of any mk boss or villian but he's such pussy
so i don't think should come back.

MK4 newbies = wasted roster space save for Fujin who can be recycled, Quan Chi is ownage, and pretty much the others like Reiko, Kai, Jarek, and so on are nothing but fertilizer.

Egad, remember me to thank God for MKDA and MKD newbies. It could have ended even worse after Mk4 storyline and design wise. A question: which Jax hat are we talking about? The barret or the "rappa" hat?
