Having a character be a certain gender/race/species/nationality just for the sake of having a character of that gender/race/species/nationality is not something good. It tends to leave to really bad stereotypes.

Brazilian women have the BEST butts. I have a huge liking for their women. Not to mention the Favelas. Maybe it's a terrible place but the fact it's little houses built inside a mountain is way f'n cool to me! Let's not forget Brazilian Jujitsu. I'd like to see that at some point as well.

The same way they're pushing the white race with so many white characters? Yes, I understand why would you wouldn't want the same thing done with other types of people.

"But all these white characters aren't defined by their race" you might say. Well sure they aren't, but don't kid yourself, chances are all the characters' races were chosen deliberatly. To the developers, Kabal, Stryker, Johnny, Sonya, etc, are partially defined by their race. Sonya was included in MK1 specifically so they could have a woman on the roster.

Then there's Nightwolf. He is an interesting character, but he is largely defined by being Native American. Jax, like it or not, was created so they could have a black man.

Another possibility they just made the white characters, well, white, only because it came naturally to them, not because they decided Sonya couldn't be Hispanic, but that would show how strongly influenced by stereotypes the developers are, and how yes, all the human or human-looking characters are partially defined by their race as a result.

There's nothing wrong with asking for a Brazilian character, so long as they put the same effort in designing that character as they did for Sonya and Nightwolf.

I took it that the Brazil treat from Mk would be some bonus with the game, or an earlier release or something,

The way I see it is:

We have Kotal already, who is a shoutout to the history of south america and the heritage of the people that live there.

THAT is much more powerful in my eyes than having a single person of "Brazilian" decent. Because as DG10A has made it outstandingly clear: you can never satisfy people. If you give people "green" there will be some who wanted forest green and others who wanted seafoam green.

It is much better (especially in a FIGHTING VIDEO GAME) to have archetypal character's rather than a specific demographic. It is impossible for one character to meet everyone's wishes.
