The current style of story mode worked fucking wonders for the Trilogy era because it was something we only had one bio and ending per character to piece things together.

Deception and Deadly Alliance had two bios per character and a lot of them connected, and then Deception's Konquest mode was fucking awesome.

The current style of story telling could really flesh things out too on the level of Deception's konquest but they'd have to make it six hours long and have each character playable, which they're not gonna do.

Deadly Alliance was a decent set up, Deception was an absolutely awesome continuation, and Armageddon was a fun party game, but lacked the story to conclude that era nicely.
