But everyone in Outworld is fighting to get their hands on that amulet holding Shinnok. He might be defeated in the beginning ala Shang Tsung in MK9 only to come back on a murder spree like Sindel (with Shang in her) near the end of the game.

I think mileena,kung jin,takeda,jackie briggs and erron black will be the playable characters on the roster.
Everyone one else in the trailer will be npc for plot reasons.

This is why i believe we need more than just 4 dlc kharacters since 2 r guest. Way too many great kharacters missing the cut on this amazing game. I really hope alot of ppl buy dlc so they can put out more.

Its between shinnok and erron black. I think shinnok is in.

I think this is the most likely case which is a bummer as I'm not really excited about any of them. I'd take Shinnok, Baraka, and Rain over these chumps any day. Maybe I'll like them over time tho.

My guess is that Erron`s DLC.

Erron doesn't fit "iconic guest" or "klassic kombatant".

And it doesn't make a lot of sense to sell new characters as DLC. More familiar entities make more money.

I hope Sindel is at least un-zombified in story, and she has a tearful reunion with Kitana.

We do not know for a fact that`s all we`re getting. Skarlet sold well enough, and judging by the reaction, Erron would do even better.

You can't use Skarlet. The whole point of her inclusion was because she has always been a famous rumor and or glitch. Erron is just some random new guy. Sure, he looks great, but why have a completely new character as DLC when he can just be in the core game?

Erran could be a DLC comic character. Its possible that he'll be the focus of an upcoming chapter, and be DLC to coincide with that. Just a possibility.

I'd be very surprised if he wasn't in the game at the start, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility of DLC.

I absolutely can. Rumors aside, she was a brand new character at the time; which shows they`re willing to do it.

And introducing a badass cowboy henchman (likely with low story time) into the comics to encourage the fans to develop an attachment to him, only to charge extra $ for him later would be a masterful marketing tactic. I can really see it.

Can you see Shinnok as DLC? I can`t. The guy has never been what you`d call a popular character.

I`m not saying everyone aside from 2 other characters we saw today aren`t necessarily playable, but if I had to make that decision today, that`s how I sees it.

I looked at all of the screen shots and based on my analysis the 5 are definitely:

Came to this conclusion because he's obviously apart of the team (Kotal), he shows up in THREE different screenshots and there's one screenshot where it's Takeda, Jacqui and Kung Jin walking with him leading them somewhere, so that's my logical conclusion.

Idk if not showing any gameplay for him was deliberate or not but either way that was genius on NRS part. Had us really on some detective stuff lol

I really hope Shinnok is playable.

He's front and centre so many times that it's like NRS are just rubbing him in our face, which is a good thing

Hardly. Skarlet was thrown into MK9 after 18 years only as fan service, and was actually the worst-selling of the four DLCs.

Asking casual players to pay for a no-name like Erron Black would not be good business. Shinnok as DLC is a far safer bet.

Not to be a Debbie downer but Baraka may not have even been seen. We see Tarkatan but they all have the same costume. Are there any places that one Tarkatan stands out from the rest?

And I am a big Baraka fan too, I just see minion Tarkatans tho.

The five clearly are Jacky Briggs, Takeda, Jin, Erran Black and Mileena. Being that Boon said 5 playable, I believe everyone else in that trailer is just for story purpose. Including Sonya Blade, JC and Shinnok..

It is unless the Kombat Pack sells well enough for more. They wouldn't be working on DLC that far ahead that might not ever see the light of day.

I sure as hell wouldn't pay for Erron. Tbh, he's more interesting disguised as someone else. I mean, the cowboy thing, woohoo...but how many different ways can you make use of a pistol? Cassie's got that covered multiple ways. Pistol shot across all variations and an air shot in Hollywood variation. But meh, who knows, maybe they'll surprise me.

Tanya/Reiko/Fujin are looking like DLC primes atm. Considering the lack there-of in the trailer.

And I'm with @KenshiMaster16 that Shinnok is unlockable.

I've worked for a few game companies over the last decade, and let me assure you that I've seen plans for DLC for titles that are guaranteed bestsellers well up to months after the game's release, planned fully half a year before the game even comes out. DLC planned for 30 days out, DLC planned for 60 days out, DLC planned for 90 days out. Happens all the time.

Whoever and whatever they're selling, the wheels are spinning as we speak. Trust me on that.

And I would absolutely NOT consider Shinnok a good DLC candidate. He's been greeted with lukewarm reception to moderate enthusiasm from MK4 day one, and they know it.
