So your taking a metaphorical term and trying to make literal sense out of it. Tell me one reason a Lin Kuei dedicated member would say anything referring tot he Shurai Ryu. Your trying to make literal conclusions out of something that's both indirect and contradictory to the canon timeline.

Its an Intro... Meant for a singular character. Why don't you argue with Scorpion claiming Vengeance will be his to the entire roster? Or Ermac claiming a 2P Ermac is only one instead of many? Or Sektor Saying he will show no mercy instead of "me and my tag partner will show no mercy?" Because all of those easily have 100 times more logicality in your direction of argument than your obsession with a METAPHOR. I'd rather eat my own face than even wonder how you can't grasp this. Its your own conscience you cant overcome. Not any fact.

LOL! I still say that MK2011's version of Smoke is the chain-smoking, crazy-haired ninja Christopher Walken. If you've seen Batman Returns, you'll know what I mean.

In all seriousness, Smoke's voice plus the line comes off as a bad execution that just makes things silly. Instead of trying to make a pun of his name, they could have done something similar to what they did for Sub-Zero.

Lol I'm begining to think Coldwindblows is either very, very stoned, or else he (or she) is just pretending to be confused about very simple things to wind everybody up today. Either way it's actually kinda funny.

As Cassleman has said, it's a metaphor. The phrase "Where there is Smoke there is Fire" is an idiom which indicates that if there appears to be trouble, there usually is. He's basically making a reference about his own code name whilst letting the opponent know "If your looking for trouble with me, you've found it".

I personally quite like it because it's relatively impersonal but still threatening, where as the likes of Scorpion's entrance quote would only really make sense or seem to fit him if it was exclusive to a battle with Sub-Zero, Noob Saibot or Quan chi.

I see that people on this site only follow other people thoughts whitout trying to understand indifferences.

Listen I know it's a metaphor BUT it can also be used I'n a creative way.
