What does he mean? He doesn't use fire moves, right?

My only theories is that maybe it's a phrase he would use because he's a good match up with scorpion In the tag team battles.

Or maybe it's deeper and involves his ending, which was having him have two souls? But that's a little Farfetch I know but that's all I got.

Or maybe it's a stupid line that belongs in Defenders of the Realm.

Unless it's Christopher Walken who's saying it. Then it's awesome.

Where there's SMOKE... there's,y'know... FIYAH.

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
YOU ARE READING THIS IN CHRISTOPHER WALKEN VOICE

Fact: Quoting game designers in an attempt to prove or disprove a theory about the future of the MK franchise is a fool's errand. Sometimes what they say on the subject proves to be accurate, other times it does not. Somehow life goes on.

"What does he mean? He doesn't use fire moves, right?"

You're being too literal.

Then what does he mean? I can understand maybe if he said where there's fire there is smoke, but thatS still unclear.

I mean he doesn't literally mean fire. He's just using the expression to indicate that he's dangerous.

It's an expression. You know, like "Time to pay the piper." When someone says that, they're not talking about a literal piper that needs to get money from you. They're talking about facing consequences.

Where there's smoke, there's fire is one such expression. In this case though, they just used it as a pun on his name.

That's kind of lame if that's the case but why would he be literal about the smoke part and not fire?

Do you know what a "pun" is?

Where there's smoke, there's fire. = When there is an indication or sign of something bad, usually the indication is correct.

Like *Kano* said, he's probably just warning his opponent. Plus, it's a lame joke about his codename.

His fatalities in the game are as close to fire as he'll get. Both of them give me chills.

I was really hoping it was something mystical and not so plain. I'm kind of disappointed now --------> sad face :(

But I would have to Somewhat disagree with what everyone is saying. Yes I do believe that it can be some cheesy line but I feel that it would be better when your playing against someone I'n tag team and your team is smoke & scropion. IMO

After seeing him call Kitana Kahn's housewife or some such in Story mode, I'm of the opinion he's a bit of a smartass.

And I love it.

Fire is being used as a Metaphor. Not hard to see, I never even gave it a second thought. He is speaking of the shit thats about to go down.

Better than him saying 'Stop drop and roll!' or 'I'll give YOU lung cancer''.

Quoted for truth Interesting thing though about Smoke. Since we know what he is from his ending, can Quan Chi actually own his soul, since, you know,he is not human at all.

Maybe your failing to read.

What in the hell does a metaphor being said have to do with ANY kind of circumstances? Hes claiming hes about to unleash an onslaught. What would it matter if somebody is fighting by his side?

Open your brain, Let the clarity flow in.

And do you really think NRS said "oh he should only say that if hes alone"

Lol

It's a dumb metaphor and is not clever or whatever you said it was. It's SOUNDS better if he is in a tag team with scropion. Just because it may be meant one way doesn't mean it can't have more than one purpose.

So maybe you need to get your head out of a fish bowl, and think. It's called being creative

Smoke's line is just fine, I'd be more concerned about something more important like story or gameplay than a simple fight intro. They coulda just not given him anything to say like Baraka, Reptile, and Kano. Really, no snappy slang, Kano? Just playing with your knives? :P

I just wanted some insight on why he said that and thought how creative it would be to pair him with scropion. That's all... Some guys take life to serious...
