I wanted to share something I've been thinking for a while now.

I admit I'm in love with Mileena in MK9 but when I first saw her new attire I thought to myself: how is she going to pass as Kitana's twin? They are supposed to look identical when the masks are on and now Mileena has yellow demonic eyes.. I thought that the eyes defeated her reason for existing, that reason being Mileena is Kitana's twin/clone.
Now that Kitana is revealed, this argument grew exponentially so I think I found a way to make it credible. Don't quote me on this one but I remember something about the MK team wanting to re-tell the MK1-3 history adding details to the plot/characters that they couldn't add before because of the technology restriction. Ok here it goes:

So Kahn orders Shang Tsung to make Mileena and she ends up flawed yeah, but what if after Shang Tsung screwed up, he used his magic to make Mileena beautiful for her to be able to pass of as Kitana's sister. (This would be before MK 1)
Then with the death of Shang Tsung in the first tournament, the spell would break making Mileena horrid again, and Kitana finding the truth about her.(This would be in MK2)

That can all be explained with a cut scene showing a beautiful maskless Mileena next to Kitana, another cut scene showing Kitana discover her after the spell is broken followed by a fight between them. It could be part of Kitana's story mode. This would make the story more believable. I mean, how can Kitana live with her and not discover she has Tarkatan fangs? I always thought that 'she has a mask and she never takes it off' was a bad excuse for her not finding out. Comments?

Where is it confirmed or even hinted to that characters will have individual "story modes" or that there even will be a "story mode"???? All I expect is the story to be in the bio's and endings, and that's it.

The story mode will be like MK VS DC, but much much longer.

We know there will be a story mode, and that story mode will be like the one MKvsDC had, only way longer. Now, if you try to remember, in MKvsDC the story was divided by chapters, each with a different character. So a longer story = more chapters with more characters are to be included. Do the math. Read your news.

So I don't read every single article or see every single video concerning the game. I've seen all E3 and PAX news though and don't recall seeing or hearing any thing official about any story mode or if there is one, how it is implemented exactly. I guess that is because I don't like to make assumptions........

lol k man. I don't got a problem with being wrong. Just ever since the official announcement of the game I've constantly seen story mode this, story mode that, without any kind of official information. So it all has seemed like assumptions to me that people have just because MKvsDC had a "Story Mode".

Hey I did go take a look at the Facts and Info thread and honestly I question its credibility. Says Kano, Raiden, and Shang Tsung are confirmed, but in no way are they officially confirmed. Not that I have doubts they will be in, but with no links provided to source of information, I can only take what is said in the post with a grain of salt.

While I don't think we have any official confirmation on Kano, Raiden and Tsung, they've been hinted at a lot. Hector Sanchez literally said Raiden would be playable in the game when questioned about it. He also said that Shang Tsung wouldn't have a character model if he wasn't in the game (he appears in the throne room) and Kano was "confirmed" in some German magazine, although that could be a misquote or something. Either way Kano is almost a lock to be in this game anyways so no harm done in adding him to the list

I think I remember that Raiden was confirmed by one of the developers, don't know about the other 2 tough.. anyway, we should get back on topic. I really hope the new story expands on the characters' backgrounds. Seriously, I think Mileena not getting caught is ridiculous. Thank God there's no more memory limits.

And that is why I think it is a shame there isn't a bunch of links in the post. I'd like to see original source of info so I know it is credible. But whatev...

lol thanks I believe I've found the info.... Hell I even found a video with Ed Boon himself confirming Raiden.... and I guess the story mode stuff was in the original WB press release.... anyways YAY!

K Mileena...... I wish I had some thing to say about her.... I guess I never really cared for her. And now she only reminds me of my girl friend with almost the same name lol.

The ONLY thing I don't like about Mileena thus far in this game is the fact that they seemed to have completely forgotten that fact that she is supposed to be the twin/clone and or duplicate of Kitana, at least from a physical stand point. Therefore I am not liking nor understanding why they went and gave her these yellow demon-cat eyes. To me the lack of physical similarities between Mileena and Kitana as of late almost make their entire story seem void. As far as I am concerned, the exact same models should have been used for both Kitana and Mileena, with only changes to necessary things like Mileena's Tarkatan mouth, hair, costume and move set.

Mileena I'll give credit to in MK2 as she is badass in the game, but then who in that game isn't? (rhetorical question) However I don't understand why she even has as much as a fanbase as she does? Makes me feel like there is a lot of sick fucks around..... sorry....

I guess I'm looking to be enlightened about what the appeal is with this character anyways?

As for her in MK9, I seriously haven't been impressed with any thing from her. Her fatality fucking sucks hard dry shit through a hose..... I mean her Fatalities in MKD are awesome, so comparing to them, the one seen of hers for MK9 imo does suck.

Now yes perhaps I've posted this in a aggressive way, but please Mileena fans, I honestly just want to know what specifically draws you to this character? (If I never were on forums, I would of always thought Kitana fans outnumbered Mileena fans by at least 3-1. So I've always been surprised by her popularity.)

When MKD came out and Mileena looked way different from Kitana in MKDA I was wondering how any could be fooled by her impersonating Kitana. I guess they mean to imply that they're twins but not identical now.

Because she eats faces...half-naked...not necessarily in that order.

But seriously I think her popularity can be attributed to:

1. She's been in the series for a while.
2. She's got the evil monster thing going for her (people like villains and anti-heroes) yet still retains sex appeal.
3. Saw a good deal of publicity and story focus in later games.
4. Has a sort of twisted sympathetic backstory.

I'm just a casual fan so I'm sure others better versed in her lore could elaborate.

Sorry but as far as I have notice Mileena has always had a larger fan base. Not saying Kitana doesn't have her fans, because she clearly does.

Mileena is imo, flat out the better character of the twins. She actually has a personality. Kitana was always just Liu Kang as a female to me. Kinda boring.

I have to agree with TheDarkPrince, Kitana is blander than Mileena. Plus, if you've seen the new Sub Zero/Scorpion and Mileena/Kitana tag match, Mileena was much more noticeable than Kitana .... plus that victory pose she did was sexy! ^^

I do believe the devs at Pax said that Kitana was not complete. So she didn't have all of her moves, or Xray in that version.

Ah, excuse me then, I did not know. Either way, I prefer Mileena over Kitana in this game anyway, Kitana just looks so weird with that hair...

Because not all people on earth are Sub-Zero and Scorpion fan boys, other characters can have fans too.

And kitana is a good girl, which is pretty boring.

Why is it that Mileena threads always turn into talking about how Mileena is better than Kitana? That right there should prove how much she isn't if her own fanbase needs to constantly compare her to Kitana. She should be strong enough to stand on her own without constantly having to be compared to another character like she's attached at the hip to her storyline (even though she is, but that's beside the point). I rarely see Kitana threads delve into why Kitana is better than Mileena.
