Regarding Sheeva
I love her. Sure, she is underdeveloped but that sexy 2 toed horned head 4 armed beast has potential. I personally want to see more of her role as Sindel's body guard and her turning on Kahn, etc.
Regarding Jade
I agree with most of the things Jaded-Raven said. And its true as hell that Shao Kahn must had trusted her a lot and considered her a great tool for the role he gave her in MK3 and MK2. Can't wait to see her, specially 'cause I fell in love with her amazing costumes in MKD. Easily some of the best!
I completely disagree.
If anything, Sonya is one of the few characters who has received the most number of special moves and one of the few that has a big variety of them. Not to mention that she has some of the most recognizable classic/trademark moves of MK.
I do hope she gets at least 2 new ones on top of her best special moves:
Leg Grab, Energy Ring Toss, Kiss of Death, Vertical Bicycle kicks (also from the air downward, wow, that was a brilliant addition!), Cartwheel Kicks, Leg Grab Air throw, and 2 new ones.
Too bad she will loose the special move she stole from Mileena??? I certainly hope she does, as well as all the other specials that didn't belong to her originally. There is a lot of potential with her steel fans, so, they should give her a new set of moves instead of copy/paste from otehr characters.

Yeah she definitely shouldn't have the roll thingy. Although I hope she keeps the teleport, I'm beginning to think all the assassin girls can do it considering how purple and misty Mileena's specials are looking. I wouldn't mind getting a peek at Tanya in this game. If only so we can know what she was up to during Shao Kahn's invasion.

i also dont get all the hate for sheeva...
i personally think she is a great character and stands out
a lot from the rest of the girls for obvious reasons!
i think she has potential to turn out great, they just need
to polish her moves up a bit and give her a good storyline, maybe
some other interesting characters to interact with (like sindel,
shao kahn, tanya, mileena, rain...basically all edenians could do!)
and sheeva is easily in!

I think in this new game, it would be a perfect come-back for Sheeva. Since they are trying to make the characters more unique, Sheeva would be perfect. Plus, she might have that crazy scream that she had in MK3. I still remember it, don't tell me you don't.

That's what I mean.
Out of all the characters she's had the most additions and subtractions to her specials, they've never settled on anything
She even had Liu Kang's Dragon Kick for a hot second
I think they should build off of the leg grab and make her the game's fragile speedster...just give her a theme like everybody else.

I love Sonya, but does she really need more specials? That's a grab move, an air throw, a projectile, a stun, a multi-hit, an advancing pop-up, and an air punisher/distancer (I'm talking about her Square Wave Punch on the last one, of course). It might just be me, but it looks like she has all of her bases covered, functionally speaking.

Be fair, queve would prefer it if Sonya had pretty much every move.
OmniSonya for DLC?

Tanya allied with Onaga because Baraka "forced" her, but she still had other plans on mind, she was NOT going to be faithful to Onaga.

Tanya stealing the super Kami from Onaga wasn't smarts, it was a mixture of luck, Onaga's stupidity, and most importantly, Midway's lazyness.
Again, another example of how they could have done something creative but instead went with leap of faith jump and snatch. Yeah, that's makes sense.

I must have stun kiss! Being able to stun with Sonya made her a hell of a lot more fun. I like the range MKDC had, very effective, very fair.
Ring Toss... Well yeah, she needs a projectile like everyone else. I'd like it to be a little flashier. Not stronger or anything like that, but have a flashier animation.
Vertical Kicks is also needed. This and the Stun Kiss were my main weapons in MKDC. So much ass whooped. I couldn't tell you how many times I caught people by surprise by jumping back and coming down with the kick when they tried to knock me out of the air. Also very useful when I was knocked down, and got back up with the kicks, which hit before they could follow up. So yes, I will have to kidnap Boon's family members if this is not there.
Leg Grab can very well be a throw. I do think they need to make it flashier, though, just a little bit, given that the MK9 characters so far have pretty flashy throws. A simple handstand might not do it. And I see no problem in making this throw accessible in the air. Scorpion has it!
If it comes down to it, I would like them to take away her Cartwheel and her Square Wave Punch and replace them with new moves. The moves above are her most iconic ones, and she needs something new like everyone else.

I don't care who she stole it from. Having that move to go under projectiles on reaction was awesome. That's partly why she was one of the best zoning characters in that game.

Yeah, i see where your coming from, a great move, is a great move...but its Mileena's move and it makes her moveset original.
if the team wants to give Kitana i nice evasion type move... then they should make her an original one. Mileena has returned..and she wants her move back

Well, apart from Mileena, the female characters i'd consider absolutely needed to show up are:
- Kitana;
- Jade;
- Sonya;
- Sindel;
- Sheeva;
- Khameleon (she's got pottential. LOADS of it. She's got a very good basys for an interesting storyline, also.)
AND, although chronologically innaccurate,
- Frost.
Out of the bunch of "new generation" characters we got in the 3D games, Frost just strikes me as the most interesting of all. She's definitely got the looks, the moves, and a good chance to have a very interesting storyline, with the right "reset" switch turned on.

I'd like to see Kitana, Sonya, and Jade *honestly though, how are Kitana and Sonya not going to be in the game? They're the female faces of MK*. I really hope Kitana's costume isn't exactly like Mileena's. There was a debate earlier in the thread about Mileena's attire. I don't think it's so much of her wearing less, just that it doesn't look too functional lol. I could she her fighting with the outfits from MK2-Gold, but anything after that... if she moved the wrong way, SOMETHING was going to pop out lol. Besides, that doesn't seem like Kitana's personality, so hopefully they will be different.
As for Sonya, I hope she doesn't look like a man lol. The MK girls have looked like extras from Ru Paul's Drag race ever since Deadly Alliance. I remember falling head over heels for Sonya in MK3 and 4, but looking at Mileena's model, I think they'll get it right. It looks like a whole new modeling team, which is a breath of fresh air!

I wish Sonya would rely more on the legs that made her famous.
If all characters have individual move sets, I ́d love Sonya ́s to be kick-intensive. I wish she had more attacks like flip-kicks.
I wouldnt mind her losing her rings in favor of the poison cloud kiss either.
I also wish Kitana and Mileena used their weapons more. It just doesn ́t make sense that they wouldnt use their weapons at all times! it doesnt have to always mean larger range and power, it can be just aesthetic, but i think it ́d give them a lot more dimention.
Sindel ́s situation is similar to sonya, I wish her regular hits would use hair, and scratches and stuff like that. Make every character as individual as possible.
Sindel also needs more Super specials. That ankle grab thing was complete and utter generic BULLSHIT and very VERY offensive considering the shitload of powers she has... Hair, Scream, Flight, Blue fire

Not really a rant, but it's annoying when people compare her to Raiden. The only thing they have in common is ownership of wide hats.....oh, and that they both have white in their outfits.
Their powers/abilities are completely different. Ashrah uses holy fire/religious powers, Raiden uses lightning.
Ashrah is an ascending demon, Raiden is an elemental god. She is on (what she believes to be) a personal quest to purify her soul, Raiden is (what he believes to be) trying to protect Earthrealm.
Just because two characters have a few superficial physical similarities doesn't make them similar.

Personally, I found that the problem with Ashrah was never really her outfit being similar to Raiden's.
It was that her personality is so damn bland. You'd think a demon trying to purify herself would show more emotion and not act so goddamn cardboard.
That's why I like Sareena so much better. You can actually tell how Sareena FEELS about being a demon, how much she hates it or feels desperate or loses hope or this or that.
And it's not like Sareena has gotten more screentime just 'cause she was in Mythologies. She only has a handful of lines in the whole game, she's just plain better acted. Ashrah got much more screentime while training Shujinko in Deception Konquest, plenty of chance to develop her and make her interesting, and they completely blew it. She just comes across one-dimensional and lifeless.

To each his own, I guess. But I felt that Ashrah's "stiff" librarian-ish personality was fitting of her being a no-nonsense crusader of righteousness. I could easily see her becoming a zealot full of righteous fury in future installments.

0
I didn't even get a "librarian" vibe off her. I just felt like she was a hollow, unfinished character and no thought was put into her dialogue or voice acting.
I think if you DID want to actually characterize her as very stiff and serious about fighting evil and taking her holy warrior job seriously though, there are much better ways to do that.
What I would have done when introducing her in Deception is to show what she was like BEFORE she found the Kriss. Don't have her already owning it when the game starts, have her start the story without it and finding it early on, and THEN realize what it does and decide to start using it to purify herself. The Ashrah we meet in Deception feels like her story is already in the last act, all her character growth happened before we even met her. And that's no good.

Well the voice and acting can change dramatically, as we've seen with Mileena. In Deception and Armageddon she sounds monstrous, but she sounds more smooth and sexy from what we've seen from the newest footage.
I agree with her feeling somewhat "finished" in Deception, but her Armageddon bio opened up a new possibility for her, turning from the holy, just warrior with a benevolent feel to a crusader madly obsessed with purging evil. Though with this revamp, they could backtrack and elaborate on her life as a demon and flesh her out more, but that's probably not going to happen just yet, if at all.
