Notice the 'S after the personal noun Jade? I the English language we call those things POSSESSIVES. In one way or another it belongs to her, though I highly doubt Outworld has a good parcellation administration.

That's a bit silly to be honest. I don't think this had much to do with anything. Jade was a totally different character when she first debuted than she actually turned out to be (in a game like MKD). Even if it makes sense to you, it's still an assumption since nothing has ever been mentioned about Jade's relationship, if any, with Shao Kahn.

What do you mean with that there's never been mentioned anything about their relationship? Jade was Shao Kahn's assassin along with Kitana and Mileena, that is no assumption.
The whole desert-thing, as said, it was something I had read some time, however, it may not have been official information. Then I would have based my assumption on someone else's assumption, so I could be wrong, I admit that. However, to say that Jade had no relation to Kahn what-so-ever would be a wrong statement.
If I misunderstood what you're saying, then please correct me.

Hah, well thank you for the lesson on English grammar. And I agree on the bit that though, if it is the case, Kahn gave Jade the desert, then it would be given to her by word and not through a contract or whatever.

Y'know...maybe it's Jade's desert just 'cause that's where she lives. Doesn't mean she owns the entire desert or that there's some story of how she got the place.

That is indeed plausible as well.
I guess we cannot tell until the MK team confirms anything. That's why I hope Jade is in the upcoming game and I hope her character and story is fleshed out more.

Realistically, I reckon there will be...
- Sonya
- Kitana
- Mileena
- Sindel
- Jade
- maybe 1 or 2 new characters.
I know the storyline is going back to mk1-3 era, but isn't there meant to be something about Raiden trying to change the past? I think that the introduction of new character kinda works along with that, plus they should have some good ideas by now considering the last 4 years only introduced Taven, Daegon and DC people - no really interesting concepts.
I would like Sheeva to make it, but I highly doubt in unfortunately.

You obviously haven't been checking out the interviews.
New character's may not be completely out of the picture but clue have been leading to their absence from the game.
Sheeva has just as big a chance as the rest of the MK3 cast, I guarentee she'll be in.

Fuck me if we are looking at a possibility of Stryker being in as well as Nightwolf then Sheeva better be fucking in.

Oh, I wouldn't say that. Stryker is interesting at least in concept, even if he hasn't done anything, and Nightwolf has a damn PhD in history (that is the technical definition of "historian" BTW). And frankly, Nightwolf's appearance/moves are simply badass.
That said, Sheeva isn't a terrible character. She actually was kinda popular in the very early days being that she was the first playable shokan. We got over that pretty quickly.
Sheeva has no fanbase. Sure, there may be people who LIKE her, or "wouldn't mind if she returned," but a fanbase is something constant. It's the group of people who actively complain when the character DOESN'T show up in the new installment. Based off what I've read at this forum for the past years, Sheeva went totally un-missed after her departure.
I don't hate the character. By canon, she defeated Motaro and overall, she doesn't look half bad in any of her incarnations. But overall, she's one of the bottom five MK characters. Jarek and Hsu Hao may have been horrible, but at least we remembered them after their departure.
Ed has said multiple times, "if you have a favorite from MK1-MK3, s/he is probably in the game." It's starting to sound like the Trilogy roster isn't the given we once thought it was, and I wouldn't mind if we never saw Sheeva again. She has not EARNED her place in a future game.

Yehh... I read the front page of the site once but thats about it to be honest :p
But yeh, really? I always thought Sheeva was disliked and always considered just some wannabe Goro? I'd love it if she made it, but she's one of my fave characters and even I think she's a but bland and pointless to the storyline at times. I just find her fun to use!
I hope they bring new characters though. Personally, I dont want just a mk trilogy remake with a slightly different story =/

Look, I do like Sheeva, I'm biased in that respect, but at the very least, her return would be interesting in gameplay terms at the very least. And that's what I care about more.
This is a storyline reboot, they should be able to make every single character a bit more interesting. Stryker and Nightwolf included and allow them to make personalities deeper and have more of an impact.
I would say the only reason Sheeva went unmissed was because a) she was killed off screen and b) no Shokans had returned or appeared until Deception Gamecube.
One thing I do seem to remember was a few people saying Sheeva kicked ass in the Armageddon intro.
Also bottom 5? A bit harsh.
Also I realise I have bitten at the bait. lol.

Sheeva's problem is an unoriginal storyline. She's just another one of Shao Kahn's goons, and as Chrome stated she doesn't even have a movelist that gives her even a small saving grace. A character like Stryker or Nightwolf is at least "original" in terms of there's no one else like them, and their stories aren't just something you could give to anyone and say "here".

I hope they don't forget about Tanya. If she's not in the initial cast then as DLC she would be a great addition.

I think all MK1-MK3 female characters will make it except Sheeva. I hope Tanya makes it though. Other than Quan Chi and Shinnok. She seemed like the only other new character who was important to the story. Jarrek and Kai were nobodies and non-existant in the series for a reason. We already have Kano and Kung Lao in the series. What were they needed for? As for Fujin. For a wind god he doesn't seem to do much either.

Actually, he was probably the most productive new mk4 character in preparing the attack against Shinnok. Tanya didn't really do anything in MK4 other than fail to trap Liu Kang.

All these Sheeva comments are very true. It's not her fault that she's so disliked, it's the MK team that didn't focus enough time on her. A fresh new movelist and a never-before-seen gamepla style would at least help her gain some fans.
Not to mention a story. I've always wanted to see her interact with Sindel more often. Hopefully not another "BLARG I WANT REVENGE" story, but it will give them both something to deal with for a single title. Hopefully throw in another more popular character because unpopular character vs. unpopular character = unpopular match up.
I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but surely it can't be that hard with the nature of the characters.
Oh, and I must add, I loved her MKA look, but I didn't like how they beefed her up. She looked much more nimble as a slim Shokan in MK3 and it wasn't until you played with her that you realized she was a heavyweight powerhouse. Female heavyweights don't come along often so that's one thing that gives Sheeva uniqueness.
moving on...
I kind of wish Tanya had been an UMK3 character, just so that she can be in the game and considered a "classic" character. She does have nearly all of the elements that make the other female palette-swaps including growing into a completely different character once MK Deception came out.
Personally, I'd take away the fire ball business. We have enough fire ball characters and this didn't exactly help give her a creative edge over the other females. Some sort of strange, unexplainable yellow and green energy ball would have done her much better than fire.
The cannon drill adds to her individuality as well. at least they gave her a move that she can be slightly known for. And they sealed the deal with her MKD weapon. Although she was too bland for people to notice, if she had been more interesting in MKD with a better thought out story, then she would have been known as the female who carries the elbow blades, just like how Kitana is known for the fans, and so on.

Didn't Shinnok's invasion start thanks to Tanya?

yeah Tanya conned Sindel into opening the portal that let Shinnok out.
All I ask for is for Kitana to be good. She was great in MKDC so I have hope. Keep the air fans the way they were in that, where you can dash up and combo when they hit a jumping opponent. Keep the d/f+2 fan swipe uppercut. Too bad she probably will lose having Mileena's roll.
And Sindel would be nice. Especially with a new costume. Something that actually looks like a queen instead of the leotard thing all the Edenian girls wear.

My problem with Tanya is that she seems to have be a typical, "Hey, I'm a bad guy crony!" sort of person. She allied with Shinnok and then with Onaga, and really what exactly is the reason for it? She's just the female Baraka to me, a follower of whoever the big bad guy happens to be that game.

Sonya needs a new moveset...you can't even tell where they're going with her when it comes to her specials
0
Except Tanya is smart enough to take over by herself. In her MKD ending, though not canon, it still showed how she is hungry for power and would turn on her "bosses" if needed. Baraka has done nothing but to ally with the bad guys really, he's just a puppet. That's just the way he lives. Tanya allied with Onaga because Baraka "forced" her, but she still had other plans on mind, she was NOT going to be faithful to Onaga.

To me, Tanya comes off as more of a "female Kano", because she has the "backstabber" quality about her. Perhaps it's best if they make her a kind of villain that does bad things simply because she likes being a bitch.
