Li Mei was designed to be MK Deadly Alliance's "sexy" female. Kitana, Mileena, and Sonya were and are not designed to be outrageously showing skin like they are now. Kitana and Mileena should have been a balance something sexy and assassins, they aren't in this game. Again , from their looks in this game I don't take them seriously. Sonya doesn't look like Sonya. There is nothing military about that outfit. Also this retelling pretty much destroys classic look and feel of many of the classic MK females

They could at least TRY and make her look attractive and still like a proper military officer without making her look like a slut, can it really be that hard? Least she doesnt have man-jaw this time. No one here has mentioned being offended by the costume, most people that dislike the costume agreed with me, that it simply did not seem to fit Sonya. You don't have to speak directly to a person to make an implication, which is what you did. Go through this topic and find someone "offended by boobs". Eh, not for everybody. I always differentiate my statements of fact from my opinions because I make a LOT of statements of fact when discussing character and plot and some people have trouble telling the difference and try to argue.

Damn, I feel like every time Crow posts in the boards someone is taking a virtual dump on what he says lmao. Everyone is entitled to their opinions! It's the point of a forum! I'll have to say the look is growing on me by the second, though! I think it kind of looks like a mix of all her costumes. It has the jacket style of her previous costumes, the revealing of boob like in MK4 and the white stripe along the legs like in her earliest renditions. Sonya had side boob hanging out of her MK4 version, but it would seem that it's universally regarded as one of her best by Sonya fans. I like it!

I'm glad I'm not alone in seeing this. Not to feel sorry for myself, but this is technically my website now. I don't want to be treated differently for being the webmaster, but it does get a little old to actually get treated worse than a regular member would be whenever I post my opinion on something.

I'm fine with agreeing to disagree on aspects of character design, which is all opinion based, but I feel its unfair to label people are prudish or make a joke of their concerns by making them out to be foolish.

Give it time, and I am sure the MK team will throw that in too because, just like the REST of the outfit, that would COMPLETELY scream "I'm a high ranking officer in the military".

I would be completely fine with this look if they just through a top on her under that vest. Theres no reason a special forces officer would or should ever be flaunting herself like that. Throw that simple white shirt on from MKDC on under that vest, so the little boys cant be happy and see at least a bit of cleavage. Make her vest a bit more conventional and tactical looking so its not just something to accent her breast and prevent nipples from showing -_- which is all it really is at the moment.

For Mileena I completely understand and dig her flaunting nature, she's just that one little whore out of the group that even has a story related reason for why she would dress like that. Kitana isn't that bad considering her back round, I would prefer her outfit to be a slight less revealing, but I still dig it and find it suitable.

But this? I feel like theyre designs are just getting lazy and more simpler the further this progresses. Throwing together a makeshift character design that they find simply appealing and sexy, rather than suitable to something that would fit that character personality wise. Scoprion and Sub-zero both have lots of character, use of color and bits of detail throughout each of their looks. Sonya being special forces officer for the U.S government wearing something like that? Come on! Stop trying to appeal to the raging hormone side of the fan base so much. Theres other characters that can do that. Does the team lack that much in creativity wear they can't make the girl look properly dressed for a combat mission, yet still have undertones of sex appeal that accent the costume?

This is by far my least favorite character redesign so for. Shao Kahn might be worse though, hard to be sure. All the others are Alright to Great in my opinion.

No, problem being that the MK team is sacrificing creative design in favor of sex appeal. They don't have to be mutually exclusive. Chun-Li is the damn poster girl for "video game hottie" and has held that title for nearly 20 years now despite her iconic (and rather conservative) costume not going through that many changes.

Meanwhile, Sonya looks boring. Adding some side boob might make it "sexier" but that doesn't stop it from being forgettable.

I think the costume is too dark and too revealing. There's no military aspect to it in the slightest and it makes her look too much like Kira. Maybe when we get a decent look at her I'll change my mind but thus far she's gets my least improved stamp for the revealed characters.

The model does look sexy and feminine which is good, but the outfit is a let down- too bland. She could really use a shirt as many have said already.

Guys we've seen this vest ever since that one person noticed Sonya in the background of the GT special where they revealed Jax. Sometimes a still picture isn't as good as an animated game model, you could notice some stuff you didn't in the picture, or forget about something that you saw in the picture.

The way things are now though, I agree with the people who think Sonya's 2011 costume could use an undershirt, but I think it would improve it overall if they added some sleeves to the vest, because you're more likely to look past a simple white shirt when she's punching and jumping around. I like the way they did the Shaolin Monks costume, although I didn't like the color scheme.

Either way, I think this shouldbe edited a bit. I'd expect to see that much revealed from Sonya's costume after some hardcore battle damage.

It is early, I agree. I guess I can remain hopeful this costume could be altered before the game is released, or even that this model is in fact an old one and not even being currently used. Now that Sonya is officially out in the air, hopefully in the near future we'll see more content involving her.
