The Terminator? That's a really weird choice for a MK game. How are crushing blows supposed to work on that? How are fatalities?

The same way it works with Frost. She is a cyborg (just watch the intro) but if you finish her with a fatality she has normal flesh, bones, intestines.... so... doesn't matter :D

For me it’s the best Easter egg to get Ash Williams into Mortal Kombat.

Groovy :)

His dialogues are gonna be fucking awesome. They better be at least. It's Ash. I have high expectations.

Hail to the King, baby!

I think he fits better than many guest characters in previous games.

But how? Mechanically it doesn't even fit.

Yes, but she doesn't have a nearly indestructible skeleton. She's got mechanical bits inside her but still has soft squishy parts along with normal bones. Terminators don't work like that. They're all machine under a thin veil of flesh. Punch one and you'll break your hand. It won't even flinch.

In an intro Frost get a head sticked on her body. Teher is nor blood or flesh but if you decapitate her then blood and flesh is everywhere. It just makes no sense.

The Terminator will most assuredly be Arnold, several intro dialogues suggest as much (He's referred to by the model # of Arnold's Terminator, and they make several references to Arnold's movies)

That said, he bleeds. Terminators are living tissue grown on top of a mechanical skeleton. Anything that's superficial and or surface damage would still work, and he could still spurt blood, as zooming in and/or X-Raying on him would just show the mechanical skeleton instead of a real one (and I imagine that excites NRS, as the mechanical skeleton is iconic in and of itself.)

I doubt he'll have organs, they'll probably have to do some custom internals for him similar to Predator & Alien, but more mechanical. Ripping out CPU's and power cores and such.

As to the idea his skeleton should be indestructable.... ehhhhhhh debatable. Putting him in a trash compacter in the first movie seemed to work pretty well. Seemed pretty destructible after taking a beating in most of the movies actually. Think he lost a limb or two in some of those crappy sequels. If by Terminator lore it shouldn't be breakable, I believe we're filing this one under suspension of disbelief. The characters will most assuredly be able to cut through his body and sever his limbs. That's just a given. Most people aren't going to split hairs over what exact metal he's made of, just go with the idea he's metal, and metal is destructible in most people's eyes.

But for what it's worth, he does have an intro dialogue where he asks if Kabal's swords can cut through "whatever whatever Terminator alloy" and Kabal then verifies they can... so... by god if Kabal's swords can, I guess everyone else's weapons can.

As for movement, and not showing damage, while he's normally a fairly slow and lumbering tank, if they made Jason Voorhees work, I doubt he'll be a problem. Probably move & react largely similar.

SO ANYWAY... I think he'll work. He bleeds. He has a skeleton. People scoffed at the idea of Jason moving quickly or taking a beating and he worked. It's a game. It'll be fine.

So is this actually legit?? Or fake/rumour??

Im surprised we get Terminator and Ash.... If we are getting guest characters, i HOPE we get Pennywise, since the new IT movie will be out this October!
There will be so much to do with this character! <3

Another thing that makes The Terminator fitting as a guest character in MK is that when MK first hit was the same era as Terminator's heyday of popularity back in the early 90's, and Boon and others have pointed out multiple times that the character of Kano was inspired by The Terminator movies.

They probably tried for Pennywise but couldn't reach a deal. Same for Michael Myers. Either licensing costs or fatalities or how the character would be used.

Most likely the latter. Pennywise is owned by WB.

Are you sure they own the character? Or do they just own the film rights to It?

Yeah, I'm honestly not sure, but I have to imagine Stephen King still has some legal say-so in Pennywise, even if WB does have the movie rights.

I don't think Stephen King would say no to Penny in Mortal Kombat. Sai King would probably be honored.

But who knows. If anything though- I think it probably was a technical/time issue. Pennywise is such a complicated character with infinite possibilities that surpass the limits of a fighting game. NRS probably didn't know what angle to go with him and decided to go for what was easier- The Joker.

Speaking of Joker, I really, really, REALLY hope we get a more classic Joker. I hated his design in Injustice 2.

That said, given the expansive costumes & gear in MK11, we may very well get both those Jokers and then some.

I personally would prefer at least one MK inspired design for The Joker. Something with a bit of a cool Outworld type flare.

What if The Joker originated from Mortal Kombat, rather than DC.

They can have the Classic Joker for an alternate. The DLC better have alternate looks.

People remember, when it comes to Mileena, yes, I'm sure NRS knows she'd be a HUGE seller. I have said multiple times across various threads that Mileena as DLC would probably outsell all the guests. She's a huge iconic character and for many she's the driving force behind the purchase of the entire game.

So no, I think it's obvious Mileena is going to sit this one out and it'll most likely play a huge role into her return in MK12. Especially after giving Kitana her moves. Why would they give Kitana her moves if they knew she would be DLC? Just for funsies? Just to throw us off? They're not going to go through all of that for some big charade. Mileena's not in.

Kollector has Mileena's brain as a weapon, Kitana has Mileena's sai and several of her iconic moves, and several characters mention Mileena's death numerous times in story mode and intros. I think it's safe to say she is sitting this one out. That said, I will be happy if NRS throws us a surprise curve ball, but I highly doubt it.

It's very obvious Skarlet is taking over Mileena's role in MK11 as the fully evil character that was created to serve Shao Kahn, and Kollector is taking over Reptile's role as the creature lackey.

Great points, Kollector and Skarlet definitely are filling Mileena and Reptile's roles. Johnny calling Skarlet a "man-eater" is totally something he'd say to Mileena if she was present.

Yep, and not to be salty to their fans, but that's why I'm not too bothered that Reptile and Mileena are taking a break. Skarlet has some moderately sexy skins, her ending is pure evil, and Kollector serves whoever can benefit his species. Very similar themes.

Freddy Krueger had infinite possibilities. They managed to settle on moves for him.

Managing to create a moveset likely isn't an issue. As Masahiro Sakurai stated many a time, the hardest part about getting a guest character is securing the licensing.

Yes "he" bleeds but it's only surface level, yes it can be destroyed, with heavy artillery and equipment but it's a bit of a stretch- You know what cool I don't care.
