Match 1: N'hikin

This one was tough, but overall, I think N'hikin has a better story and fits the MK universe better.

Match 2: Destroyer I

Another tough one...This one is just about even. However, I feel Destroyer I's story is better than Kimya's, and that's just enough to push him over the edge, even though Kimya is more original. Also, Kimya has two teleports, which is unnecessary.

Match 3: Fu Lei

Lucci was up against N'hikin, not Kimya.

The artwork on Lucci is insane, but looks more like a Blaze Blu / Guilty Gear character ..... and I wonder if X-cutter is the actual artist ? If you are, don't worry about this contest because you can be making real money somewhere with skills like that. The only reason I didn't vote for Lucci is because the story is just to far off from Mortal Kombat. I wasn't crazy about N'hikin but he fits in better with the universe, and I voted as such.

2: Kimya

Kimya was my favorite in the initial round, and I just love him as an MK character. Destroyer was pretty bad ass, but seemed a little to close to Robo-smoke in design.

And crow, I think one thing that might help voting is if you put it up as front page news to get peoples attention.

I think another problem is voter fatigue. Not to be a dick, but the majority of the entries I have read are either too long, to the point I don't even want to read anymore, or the stories behind these characters are just too far from the actual MK story.

I understand people put a ton of work into these creations, and they are all great in their own right, but I can only read so many stories about MADE PERSON from MADE UP LAND, fought MADE UP PERSON, and MADE UP PERSON'S uncle is Shao Khan or Quan Chi.

I was under the impression that these stories were supposed to tie in with MK 9 as a prelude, during or epilogue, or at least acknowledge the current game. Too many characters are trying to be one off stories, instead of actually meshing with MK9.

Isn't that the point of having them have X-rays's and the like ? I'm not saying my character is better than anyone else's, but I took the time to actually try to fit him into MK9's story in a very meaningful way, where you could actually imagine him being a DLC character because he would make sense within the context of the story, makes nods to previous games, and could still potentially be in a sequel or spin off game.

I don't think we should clutter up the voting thread with suggestions for increasing voter turn out. We should bring it back to the main KaK thread. Also jpetrunak, it would take a lot of screening to make sure that all characters fit the criteria you're suggesting, plus it would be purely subjective of who fits into the MK9 mythos and who doesn't.

The contest is open to everyone and to limit the entries would take away the freedom for people to try their hands at character creation, drawing, designing and I think that's what the point of this all is in the end. Winning doesn't net you much; putting yourself out there against entries or all different skill levels does.

N'hikin: wickedness to mix shokan and zaterran together. Ruthless creation, got me thinkin Oni for some reason. I liked the x rays and story could be great with work. Like shang tsungs association with another "creation" here

Kimya: still like him from prelims. Looking at him again, moves could be more versatile, but so could mine. Animals and savageness a plus.


Fu Lei; yeah voting for another shadow priests, but all of them are reallt unique in their own rite. Both of these were really long, but filled with detail. I still feel fu Lei was more original, Shingai used a little too much telekinesis type and fu lei was heavy on teleports, but story n ending fit

Lucci-I like his fighting style, though I wish there was some sort of tactical description with his special moves, because moves like "Water Spike" seem a little unnecessary when paired with his thunder moves(Thunder Storm sounds overpowered as it is described... Sounds like it is unblockable and hits... Everywhere.)

Fiery Noose is good, because it has a purpose other than damage, though I like Flaming Disappearence less because I've seen a lot of teleports in this k-a-k that replicate Raiden's super teleport, which this seems to do... Two things that show up constantly are the Raiden teleport and being enslaved/rescued by Quan Chi.... If this guy had both I'd have to boo him.

I like Water Choke, it's kind of fun, hehe.

The story is good too, though it lacks any sort of impact. I feel like I have no reason to want him to succeed.

All in all a good character, definitely.

I chose Lucci over N'hikin because N'hikin's ending was unfortunately weak. Other than that, N'hikin is a passable character.

I can't really make a decision in the second round. I'm not really feeling either of them....

And by the third match I was a bit bored of reading.... But I did read them, and judged accordingly, I just didn't feel up for giving feedback.

Crow asked for ideas / suggestions in this thread as to why people havemt been voting / voting is dropping off, so I gave him my thoughts. Look on page 17.

Crow, About the votes falling off alittle. Just a suggestion but do you think it may be a good idea to post pone the tournament for the holiday weekend. Alot of people may be takeing off for vacation or what not for the 4th of july and we may not get a big turn out on the votes. But of course the council gets the final say so, so its up to you guys... THX.
