First all I want to point out to all those confused by the gender mix ups and the Matthius at the end , long and short of it is I just made some mistakes when I changed her from a male to female character and forget to or didnt notice I hadn't changed them. I had infact mentiond this mentiond this a while ago though.
Thanks for the input and I'm taking onbord what you have said.
The first thing about Malice was that her design had to represent restraint which is why belts are featured heavily in both her design. The idea behind her head brace/crown was that its embedded into her brain controlling her uncontrollable violent personality but they sometimes release causing her tortured mind persona to break free.
Her first costume was supposed to reflect her once high position within the Edenian Royale family while at the same time it having the appearance of a victorian straight jacket, I also wanted it to look old, faded and tatterd to show that shes been imprisoned for a long time.
The idea of Iron lances and her gothic nature was supposed to be rather symbolic, they are supposed be extension to her insanity and violence as well as her own torment
lastly it isn't just Shao Khans betrayle that sent Malice insane but the thousands of years of solitude aswell, Shao Kahn would have turned into her main obsession as she had to have something to aim and focus on.
To say that Shao kahn's abandoning her doesnt really makes sense to her going insane is a little unfire after all just ask Glenn Close ;) but more seriously, love is a powerfull thing it does make people to crazy things, many people have killed for it.
Again thanks for your honest opinion.

I'm glad you explained a few things to me, because really that was what I was looking for with the character was just a bit of elaboration. She's quite good and all, but I feel as though she has been praised quite a bit so far(even before her round began) and that none of her flaws that ordinarly would make an impact had been adressed at all. It made me think the art work was heavily influencing the judgment, and not many were really looking objectively at the character. Again, she is not massively flawed like so many characters, but I do think everything should be addressed when critiquing one.
Good luck, not that it's needed, apparently.

Match 6, Bracket 3: Merrick
I've chosen Merrick not out of default but because he's a strong character with a very unique angle. I hope he goes far in the tournament.
Adder, I will give you a critique that goes beyond 'he's awesome!' soon.

Match 1- Malice
This is probably the hardest day of voting for me. I thought both of these characters were really good, but I have to give the edge to Malice because her story was better in my opinion. Also I wasn't a big fan of Oksana being the mother of Quan Chi. It seemed to come out of nowhere and it didn't really add too much to the story of either character.
Match 2- Shoulen
This was another tough call but I went with Shoulen. I thought both characters were fantastic but in the end I liked Shoulen's gameplay a little bit better. Shame both of you can't move on.
Match 3- Merrik
Hands down. I don't know why you would enter a character in a Mortal Kombat fan fiction contest who has nothing to do with Mortal Kombat. However that aside I am a big fan of Merrik. I liked the idea of him being a healer and I liked his primary costume, not so much the alt. My only real complaint is that you gave him the whole corrupted by evil thing and he takes over the universe. I don't really like these kind of endings. It just seems kind of lazy IMHO

Thanks.
Also, to quote myself in regards to his ending:
I chose the name Merrick for a few reasons. First, and least importantly, we only know one male Edenian by name, Jerrod. Merrick sounds like a name that could feasibly come from the language that produced Jerrod. Merrick is an Arabic name. It has relation to death and was used to name the fourth planet from the sun. That planet is also named 'Mars' after the Roman God of War. In other words, Merrick's name is a representation of the path he's being inexorably drawn to. He goes from a pacifistic healer, to a hypocritical doctor and, were his ending to be true, all the way to a death-dealing conqueror. A march leading from his name being completely wrong for him to describing him perfectly.
Now, the thing about his ending is that it is, of course, not true. But Merrick is headed that way regardless. I like to think Merrick is suffering from millenia long cases of both PTSD and survivor's guilt and, as such, he's subtly unhinged. While he is not some raving violent lunatic he's already managed to change into a completely different person from who he was and all he really needs is another little push, negative or positive, to go off the deep end. A villain just waiting to happen.
He's not really corrupted by evil, he's just one big event from going completely off his nut. He's spent the past 10,000 years in Earthrealm, isolated from the bigger events going on in the background, so nothing's triggered the ticking time bomb that is his damaged psyche, but once he's on the front lines it's only a matter of time.

Allow me to return the compliment.
Malice is an amazing character, and I can easily see her in a variety of fighting games. I would most certainly not be ashamed if she wins. As I've stated before, if she does, I will be entirely in her corner from then on.
Until then, may the best woman win!

I would like to know some of the people's critiques toward my character "Black Widow". I understand that her specialty moves were a bit excessive but I thought that it would showcase the thoroughness of her game play and her story.

I'm sort of mired in off and on site work, and a little backed up, but just hang around and I will give you my feedback in time. Keep in mind the Council (the judges) split your match 2-2, so I didn't necessary vote against you (not going to say either way, as judge votes are intentionally a secret ballot).

Notes:
- Malice is one of (if not the) best executed aesthetic design of a character in this competition. Outside of the innovative artwork though, I found aspects of her Bio unnecessarily convoluted (such as the split personalities) and her Specials a bit technically impractical. Regardless, I liked the theme, art design, and feel of Malice substantially more than Oksana.
- Shoulen and Merrick got votes because their overall design was more cohesive than their competition's even if I wasn't too keen on it.
