Sektor
As much as I love Frost, Sektor has much more potential to him and has a great backstory. It's a shame we never got to see the Tekunin story flesh out more as it had the potential to be a big part of the story. Gameplay wise, he's always been fun to play.

Gotta agree with tgrant on this one, took the words right out of my mouth. Probably the one thing that I don't like is that his story went from his tech being corrupted after so many battles with Outworld warriors into making humans inferior to rule the Lin Kuei, to him just being a sinister guy accumulating more power because he's so close to the leader anyway and then seize control once he believes he has surpassed his master... Just like Frost tried in DA. Seriously, Sektor stole Frost's story, except the connection between him and the Grandmaster is familial instead of power-related. Still, Sektor actually succeeded in creating a powerful clan and conquering Japan, so I have to give him props for that.

I don't like the cyber ninjas, but reading people's analysis of Sektor made me appreciate him more!

Basically, all of this. Frost is great but Sektor gets my vote and he's insanely fun to play as.

Royalty battles brutality when Sheeva rises from her role as bodyguard & jailer to represent her people in battle! Motaro's hatreds go beyond ancient blood feuds, fuelled by the treachery that turned him briefly into a minotaur! Tribal hatreds boil to the surface as Shokan challenges Centaur in a super-sized Round 1 clash!

Disclamer: I am fucking wasted off my god damned ass right now. So I reserve the right to spelling and grammatical errors (thought I am using spellcheck).
I voted for Sheeva.
I love Motaro. I thought he was an amazing sub-boss in MK3. He looked bad ass and he was super challenging.
BUT
Sheeva edges him out just a bit. She has two firsts. She was the first Shokan we were given the opportunity to play AND she was the first female Shokan. Her conception just makes her really amazing in my eyes. We had two games that gave us two incredibly amazing Shokan characters as sub-bosses. I remember thinking to myself, "Oh my god, I wish I could play as these characters".
Then Sheeva came along. I really felt like she looked kick ass! But she also gave me the ability to use classic Shokan moves like the teleport-stomp. I love the idea of taking well established sub-bosses and giving players the chance to experience their moves in a regulated form. I'm pretty damn sure that was one of MK's pioneering ideas.
While Bison (dictator) was given to us in Street Fighter, he remained the same as his boss form. Mortal Kombat established the Shokans as this incredibly badass race that we all wished we could control. Sheeva gave us a chance to use those abilities in a more balanced rendition. Add to the fact that she was the first female Shokan and looked really cool and sexy (in a weird sort of way) and you've got a character that is extremely underappreciated.
Like I said, I love Motaro. He's incredibly cool and stylish. But Sheeva represented a bit more in Mortal Kombat's history.

(seriously, I hope I conveyed my thoughts well enough in this post... I'm seriously hammered right now.)

Sheeva
I've never been a fan of Motaro. As a character he's always remained dull to me and the MKA curse plot didn't do much to change that. That said, he was fun to play as but Sheeva was even more fun.
I always hated Sheeva up until MKA which leaves Khameleon as the only MK female I dislike. Sheeva looked great. Her gameplay was fun and she was powerful. She showcased the power of the Shokan perfectly and in a much better way than Goro and Kintaro did in that game imo. I feel that she wasn't utilised as well as she could have been story wise and MKA set some characters up for future plots that were never to be achieved given recent releases. Sheeva is another character with unexplored potential. Hopefully that will change in the future.

Both have been screwed over repeadetly storywise but Sheeva has the advantage of always being extremely fun to play as, especially in MK9. I definitely hope to see more of her. Sheeva gets my vote.
@Luca Turilli you should get wasted more often. You guys made me realized how much Sheeva and Motaro impacted MK3. We get to play as a Shokan for the 1st time and we get this ridiculous new race of sub-boss who is bad ass and nothing we have seen before.
I don't see how Motaro worked in MK3, but was "halfed" in MKA and nothing in MK9. So you mean to tell me that the technology of old outshines the new when it comes to including Motaro, I don't get it.

Motaro never made an impact on me. Sheeva did. I mained her in MK9 and I loved every minute of kicking every Scorpion's, Sub Zero's, Kung Lao's, etc, @ss! She is one of the most underrated characters ever so I hope NRS does her justice next time when it comes to the story.

Goro never intimidated me. He looks kinda cool, but not scary in any way. Kintaro I only dreaded because of the gameplay.
But in 1995, when little 11 year old Razor saw Motaro in the arcade for the first time, there were chills up his spine. Something about that dude's design grabbed me by the balls. The attract screen which painted the Outworld invasion as mostly consisting of giant hordes of armed and armored centaurs certainly didn't hurt making the dudes look like badass elite either. That's one of the many things I'll never be able to forgive MK9 for retconning out.
His story, difficulty, and lack of subsequent appearances may make him pretty lame in retrospect, but I still remember that memory vividly and will always think the dude should have gotten a lot fairer shake than he has.
I might like Sheeva better if MK9 hadn't removed all the important story shit she ever had going for her. Her honor and nobility thing is cool, potential as an antihero is certainly there...but not in MK9, it ain't.
