TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 1:
Wu Lae versus Frost
#NA Supreme Ranking #33
0 wins 0 losses Record 4 wins 6 losses
Round 1 (2018) Best Result Round 3 (2016)
Wu Lae is the leader of an elusive clan known as the Tengu. Residing in the wintery mountains of Arcktika, the clan shares uneasy proximity with their rivals: the Lin Kuei! Wu Lae has not been seen in the new timeline, but battled Taven during the konquest mode of Armageddon, mistaking him for an ally of Noob Saibot. Little is known of this mysterious armored warrior. Could a new conflict draw Wu Lae and the Tengu into the spotlight?
The cryomancer Frost returned as a student of Sub-Zero in the Mortal Kombat X story mode. Comic books told of her secret history as champion in underground death matches. She narrowly escaped the Black Dragon clan when they came for her opponent - Cassie Cage. As arrogant and self-serving as ever, Frost nearly re-ignited tensions with the Shirai-Ryu by attacking Scorpion during a visit to the Lin Kuei. Grandmaster Sub-Zero put her on ice to await a much needed lesson in discipline. Her fate remains unknown.
Wu Lae has the potential to be a friend or enemy to the reformed Lin Kuei - as does Frost! Could the threat of a new tournament between Earthrealm and Outworld unite them with a new generation of warriors? Or would they choose personal animosity over defending the world? Choose their destiny! FIGHT!
Anyway
Given that Frost is pretty much my least favourite character (joint with one other) of the series my vote goes to the nobody Wu Lae by default. As even a random one shot background character is better than the Sub Zero rip off.
Shao Kahn did nothing wrong

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 1:
Chameleon versus Scorpion
#56 Supreme Ranking #15
1 win 3 losses Record 9 wins 6 losses
Round 2 (2013) Best Result Semis (2013)
It's been said Chameleon was present throughout the major events of the original timeline. Little is known about the mysterious warrior, who first appeared as a lost treasure in MK Trilogy. He hasn't been seen in the reboot timeline, but that's nothing new for a fighter who can hide in plain sight. Reptile referenced Chameleon during MKX mirror matches, but will he show his true colours to be that of a Zaterran warrior?
Scorpion once again learned of the manipulations of Quan Chi as true killer of his family and clan. Having served the necromancer closely in the new timeline - the fire of his rage burned brighter than ever before! Revenge nearly damned Earthrealm as he led his blade to Quan Chi's neck! His MKX ending described a heavy remorse that Raiden channelled into making Scorpion a protector of the realm. In MKX comics he proved his value as a defender, thwarting the machinations of Havik despite the murder of a new class of Shirai-Ryu warriors.
The threat of a new tournament between Earthrealm and Outworld looms! Could Chameleon be persuaded to confirm his status and join the last of Zaterra at Kotal Kahn's side? Will Scorpion complete his redemption to become Earthrealm's new champion? Choose their destiny! FIGHT!

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 1:
Shang Tsung versus Triborg
#10 Supreme Ranking #52
13 wins 6 losses Record 0 wins 2 losses
Semis (2014) Best Result Round 1 (2017)
As its former host; Shang Tsung used his influence to corrupt the spirit of the Mortal Kombat tournament. His knowledge of the dark arts was expanded by Kahn, but serving the interests of Outworld's Emperor came at a cost! When plans for invasion escalated: Shang Tsung was returned to a decrepit old man -- stripped of energy to infuse it in Sindel! Many presumed the sorcerer perished that day, but wouldn't it be foolish to under estimate one as devious as he? Whispers of his return already echo through Outworld's underground...
The Lin Kuei cybernetic program stripped its warriors of humanity, but their data lives on in Triborg! The clan's automated ranks were destroyed by Sub-Zero, with tie-in comics revealing the self-sacrificing assistance of Cyrax. The Special Forces collected their off-site data, inadvertently triggering the manifestation of Triborg: a gestalt robotic contingency possessing the data of deceased Cyrax, Sektor, and Smoke! Triborg also possess other skills, using them to fight towards a future hinted at in his MKX ending - the rise of the Tekunin!
Their existence is defined by their abilities to acquire the essence of other warriors -- but they are very different! If rumors of Shang Tsung's death are exaggerated, will his return unleash a deadly new reign -- or will the cold, soulless march of Triborg's generation crush him once and for all? Choose their destiny! FIGHT!
Triborg was cool but, nothing beats Shang. I sincerely hope Shang returns, possibly as the big bad, in the next MK.

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 1:
Cassie Cage versus Kira
#48 Supreme Ranking #64
1 win 4 losses Record 0 wins 3 losses
Round 2 (2015) Best Result Round 1 (2014)
Cassie Cage leads the next generation of heroes defending the realm of Earth! With the cocksure attitude of her father Johnny Cage, and the Special Forces training of her mother Sonya Blade; Cassie battles the forces of darkness at home - and beyond! The Cage bloodline is fated to battle gods in the new timeline. Cassie's unique aura allowed her to defeat Shinnok in his second invasion of the Sky Temple. She inadvertently stirred new hostilities with Outworld. Will she defend or doom the future?
Kira hasn't been seen in the new timeline, but in Deception she was the first recruit to Kabal's new Black Dragon clan. The tale of her daring spread from the mountains of Afghanistan, where she sold weapons to terrorists while disguised as a man. Her deception earned many enemies, but none as deadly as the Red Dragon clan, who she fought with the discipline of a soldier, and the brutality of a criminal. Kira was last seen defending the Black Dragon stronghold in Armageddon, before joining the battle of the Pyramid of Argus. With Kabal a revenant in the Netherrealm, Kira's whereabouts in the new timeline are unknown.
Their fighting styles are the fusion of well known warriors of the original game, but they fight for very different things. Will Cassie Cage lead the heroes into the future, or will Kira be drawn out of the mountains to betray her realm? Choose their destiny! FIGHT!
Shao Kahn did nothing wrong
I voted Cassie.
This round......
Not a fan of either.
So I went with Kira, because I dislike Cassie more.

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 1:
Tasia versus Tanya
#66 Supreme Ranking #43
0 wins 2 losses Record 2 wins 6 losses
Round 1 (2016) Best Result Round 2 (2014)
Tasia is a card carrying member of the Black Dragon clan. She first appeared as a sub-boss in Special Forces, but in more recent years was seen in the Mortal Kombat X tie-in comics. Wielding twin swords, she accompanied Jarek in slaughtering the audience of an underground cage fighting ring in pursuit of Cassie and Jacqui. The Black Dragon lent their services to Kotal Kahn, leading to the defeat of the Shokan, but also their incarceration by the Special Forces. Tasia's current status remains unknown.
Edenian noble Tanya served the Empress Mileena during Outworld's civil conflict for the throne. She fought Kotal Kahn in MKX, opposing his refusal to unmerge her home realm from the empire established by Shao Kahn. In retreat, she learned of her fellow Edenian's plot to bring about Mileena's ultimate downfall. Tanya was last seen pursuing Rain into an uncertain future, where her DLC MKX ending posited a future where Rain's life was bargained for her own.
These devious warriors both face a fate of imprisonment - but will they find freedom in MK's future? Tasia and Tanya both fight for personal gain, but will they be allies or enemies as tension builds between realms? Choose their destiny! FIGHT!
