Couldn't stand Cassie Cage and that idiotic "Kombat Kids" angle in MKX from day one.
Went with Kenshi. I'm willing to forgive his being reduced to a plot device for his kid in MKX.
I voted for Nitara last year, but she's beyond the "potential" stage at this point. Her dipstick is pretty much dry now in terms of storyline relevance.
On a side note, it was nice to see a little Dairou love on the forum if not in the poll itself.
I agree. Some good points on the last few!
Cassie Cage made a big impact in MKX but Kitana has been making an impact for almost 25 years. She is one of the great icons and still fresh in MKX! She has an interesting future too.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Cassie Cage is the worst character in MK history.
One of the worst, yes, but I think the worst has to go to Jacqui Briggs.
At least Cassie has something resembling charisma (as unoriginal as it is), while Jacqui is just a wet sock.

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 1:
Triborg versus Takeda
#57 Supreme Ranking #34
0 wins 1 loss Record 1 win 2 losses
Round 1 (2016) Best Result Round 2 (2016)
Triborg rounded out a new generation of kombat as the final addition included in MKXL! With Lin Kuei cyborgs destroyed or missing; Triborg took advantage of the three style Variation system to combine the cyber skills of Sektor, Cyrax, Smoke and even Sub-Zero! The result was a gestalt artifical intelligence accidentally created in the Special Forces weapons lab! Intent on wiping out organic life, Triborg introduces a deadly new incarnation of the Tekunin to the rebooted timeline!
Takahashi Takeda is the son of blind sword saint Kenshi. Part of a new era of heroes introduced in MKX, Takeda is a whip wielding ninja with natural fighting acumen honed by the teachings of Scorpion's reborn Shirai Ryu clan! Despite his feelings of abandonment, Takeda joins his father within the ranks of the Outerworld Investigation Agency. Part of Earthrealm's last line of defense against extra-realm attack, he ventured into Outworld during MKX to oppose the growing hostilities of Kotal Kahn and his warriors, and the looming threat of Shinnok's Netherrealm! The battle almost cost him his sight, but he recovered from his wounds in the arms of Jacqui Briggs, ready to continue the good fight into the future!
Nurtured in the ways of old clans, they are warriors each exemplifying a new generation of Kombat! Drawing from multiple mentors they synthesize a bold new fighting style - but whose skills are supreme? Choose their destiny! FIGHT!
Cassie was a boring mish-mash of her father and awful mother. Some of her intro dialogues were amusing but most were just stupid and infantile version of her fathers humour. I really don't think she worked. Such a forced character. Yaaaawn another boring special forces character. Just what we don't need.
Not a fan of either of these two characters Triborg/Taked in this round actually. So Im going to sit this one out as I really cant find any reason to vote one over the other.
Triborg - a plot device used to get the cyborgs into MKX cause all the cyber fanbois cried about them being missing too much, and they were all either dead or not in cyber form anymore. A pretty lame story. I only like Cyrax but wasn't too fussed he was missing in MKX so wasn't overly fussed when they added him.
Takeda - one of the children forced on us throughout story mode. I really didn't find any redeeming qualities in him, his story just didn't interest me enough to care about his 'you weren't a real father' story. Its obvious he will be back with the other children but I really wouldn't mind him being a one hit wonder. Id rather they focused on keeping Kenshi around until he was a really old kick-ass blind telepathic ninja.
There was no reason for Triborg to be included in the game except because Boon and NRS once again caved in to the rabid fanboys who continue to display dubious taste in character preferences.
Because Triborg kind of made up for the cybers not being in MKX he seems like he would never come back again but I actually think it would be cool if they could make him work in a sequel. It might be interesting if Sektor comes back and they work together or something. If nobody comes back he could have a mix of moves or he could develop new moves and get weirder and less human.
Takeda was pretty good. I like that he isnt just a straight mini Kenshi. The whips are a really good new addition to fighting gimmicks and I like that he trained with Scorpion. It gives Scorpion a new detail and makes Takeda just a little bit of a wildcard. He's MKSF but he has loyalty to a pretty volatile character. He could help Kenshi fight Daegon and Red Dragon or he could help Scorpion with Netherrealm fights or defending Earth.
Initially I hated the idea, but once he was released and I got to play him I actually see some potential in future releases. They could easily write in a story about how he drops the Sektor, Cyrax and Smoke movesets as he considers them inferior and gives himself three new different upgrades.
I hated Takeda's design in this game. His stance is awful too. It's a shame because bladed whips sound so cool in concept.
Dairou was not in MKDA.
He was designed for that game but never made the cut.

Midway concept art by (I think) Herman Sanchez.
Shao Kahn did nothing wrong
Vote goes to Takeda. (I think I tied it)

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 1:
Kotal Kahn versus Kung Jin
#20 Supreme Ranking #55
2 wins 2 losses Record 0 wins 2 losses
Round 2 ('15/'16) Best Result Round 1 (2015)
Kotal Kahn ushered in a new era for the realm of Outworld in Mortal Kombat X! A warrior of the Osh-Tekk; Kotal witnessed Shao Kahn's conquest of his home world as a small boy. He earned his apprenticeship through a secret portal to Earthrealm's South America, where he was worshipped as a god. Kotal returned to the merged realm of Outworld, serving Mileena after The Emperor's fatal fall. He soon launched a coup of his own, forcing him into constant battles with warriors loyal to the would-be Empress. Ruling with a warrior's code of honor, he struggles to maintain order in the tumultuous realm. Tie-in comics tell of his tense associations with the heroes of Earthrealm, and his war with the Shokan and Quan Chi. It remains to be seen if war between realms will be avoided under Kotal Kahn's rule.
Kung Jin is the young cousin of the once great Shaolin warrior Kung Lao. When Kung Lao died defending Earthrealm from Outworld invasion, the family entered an age of misfortune. Kung Jin travelled to the United States, turning his skills to a life of theft until the thunder god Raiden inspired him to choose a grander destiny. A highly skilled archer, Kung Jin pledges his abilities to the defense of Earthrealm as a member of the Special Forces. Keenly attuned to life on the streets, and a highly skilled fighter in his own right, he is part of a new generation of kombatants responsible for thwarting Shinnok. It remains to be seen if his good heart can succeed in redeeming the corrupt soul of the revenant Kung Lao.
They are icons of a new generation of Mortal Kombat. Restless hearts reconciling the conflict of their own soul, and the realms around them. They have the potential for great good. Choose their destiny! FIGHT!
Kotal was a breath of fresh air really. A new race. A new ruler. A new ruling style. A new era for Outworld.
Kung Jin felt like more of a natural addition that the rest of the forced Scooby gang. I like the archer style and the he played differently from how Nightwolf ever did, and I liked hi main and alt costumes. Also it was sort of refreshing that they have introduced an LGBT representative but didn't allow that to define him as a character.
Im going to go with Kung Jin for this one. Mainly because he hasn't had a win yet so rooting for the underdog. But wont be too upset if Kotal takes it.

Kung Jin was ok, but you already know my opinion of the Kombat Kids.

This.
Kotal Kahn is on another level though. He feels like he could be on the level of becoming an MK icon. So much of him feels really different too. I want to see him in the next game and I hope he sticks around. I vote for Kotal!
