Edit: after reading the little blurb, I'm going with Taven.

Taven is boring, but Daegon is such a try-hard attempt at Cool that I gotta vote Taven.

If any brother needs a redemption, its Daegon. Affleck's look alike can go away.

Taven is super bland in design and personality, but has an interesting backstory.
Daegon has a better design, but bland personality. However the deciding factor for me is Daegon's ties to the Red Dragon. I never liked that whole faction being added in when the Black Dragons needed much more development themselves.
Taven wins the only round I think he could.

My vote is going to Daegon. Nothing against his brother, I just like Daegon more.

That's a though one. Taven has the potential to become the main good character from Edenia now that everyone from that realms is either dead or evil but his moveset needs an overhaul. With a fireball, shoulder dash, dash combo and jumping ground pound he has nothing original or befitting the son of a god.
Daegon has a lot of potential too. I think it would be weird to see the main drive behind Armageddon get unceremoniously killed off in a arcade ending without more development. Just like Taven, Daegon's moves are nothing special.
I would love to see them both make a proper come back. But as of now, how they were seen in X and how the story went, I'm gonna go with Taven. Edenia needs a hero.

They are both absolutely terrible characters. I guess I'll go with Raven.

Taven hands down but I do like both characters though.
Daegon should have a more prominent role in MKXI than just being killed off by Kenshi in the latter's ending. I like Daegon to be more of a suave Lex Luthor archetype in disguise, the reason he's been hiding in Earthrealm for so long in the 21st century is that he's running a faux international aid enterprise under a faux CEO duplicate of him running this faux company. As the Special Forces are trying to hunt for Red Dragon guerillas, Daegon was just standing in plain sight and unleashes a crippling worldwide terrorist attack on Special Forces, the Lin Kuei, and the Black Dragon. However the main objective wasn't to cripple them, but to break into SF HQ, stealing confidential info on a secret project in which a scientific unit contained Blaze instead of Blaze being imprisoned near the Dragon Egg in the original timeline so Daegon can use this intel to locate the firespawn and use him to initiate Armageddon. Also to free former Netherrealm lackeys like D'vorah and make her part of the team as well as capturing Kano (who is under Special Forces custody) for experimentation. I also want Daegon to be the one to kill Jacqui so Takeda can have another reason to hate Daegon and have his spotlight battle with him.
But if I want to give a great potential bonus to someone it's Taven. It's nice to see the deadpan snarking, but naïve and tragic demigod to have a potential run in MKXI. I want to see him team up with Takeda (not Kenshi because I have a feeling he won't last long against Daegon) to stop his brother while at least trying to win Daegon back to sanity. Of course when Taven figures out Daegon willingly killed both their parents and enslaved Caro, he gets really pissed off and hunts him down. I want Takeda and Daegon to have a nearly gory and grueling battle until Daegon upgrades to his godly powers and almost kills Takeda, not before Taven arrives, and being the older brother beats the living shit out of Daegon and kills him. One thing that Armageddon lacked was Taven interacting with OTHER EDENIANS. I want Taven to finally interact with Kitana and Sindel once they're out of the brink. Plus I have an idea for Taven and Jade to actually develop a friendship (given her strange circumstances being alive and some hidden backstory potential for her powers) that gradually develops into a romance given that both have sarcastic personalities, Jade playing off Taven's naïveness and him playing off Jade's thickheadedness not to mention both have tragic backstories so Jade can be the one to help Taven confront his past and move on. I can see both Taven and Jade initially as allies descend into the Netherrealm, bringing back the revenants where Emperor Liu Kang being an annoying villain finally gets his ass kicked by a pissed-off Taven, this badass fire demigod who has unlimited magic usage and is stronger than Liu. Afterwards, Taven does have a major distrust towards Liu given the shit he's done for the Netherrealm, but overtime he can have a friendly rivalry with Liu once the latter tries so hard to redeem himself.
Overall I'm going for Taven.

Voted for Daegon. I like both of them and thought Taven was a good protagonist, but Daegon has a bit more appeal right now with all of the Red Dragon murmuring in the comics.
I would like to see either of them return in a future game.

Damn, I guess Ermac better go back to that ninja clone costume lol. I liked his look in MKX but the floating and his gameplay was disappointing. Brutal fatalities though! I voted for Goro
I like Jacqui, i never cared for Stryker but i liked him in MK 9. They're both fun characters to use But Jacqui gets my vote
I don't like either Taven or Daegon. Both whatever, I voted for Taven

A grudge match born of broken blind hearts! Hsu Hao is a soldier of the ancient Red Dragon Clan. His treachery and penchant for evil makes him the perfect enforcer for the criminal cult. With their ranks infiltrated by a double agent, he hunts Kenshi! The blind sword saint learned humility and with it the ability to see the strength of his mind! As a member of the Special Forces, he was targeted while embedded within the Red Dragon. With his wife murdered, Kenshi is forced to flee Hsu Hao to save his son. Who endures in this grudge match of deception & death? Choose their destiny! ... FIGHT!

I've never understood the over the top hate-on for Hsu Hao, who I think is actually a fair sight better than many of the other PS2 era additions -- he certainly tops Kobra, Dairou and Darrius for me, at the very least.
That said, Kenshi is far and away the best character invented for the PS2 era, though he didn't really win me over until MKX. They've done a great job differentiating him from Ermac's gameplay, finally, in this game. I went with Kenshi.
