Their names don't dictate what color their clothes will be. Kitana wore purple for her primary in MKA. The only one who comes close to that is Reptile, because he's a lizard that wears green. Not all Scorpions are yellow, nothing in Mileena's name even suggests pink or purple.

But Rain got his color from that song. It actually dictated what he had to wear.

Scorpion = Yellow for his fire abilities, sub-zero is another one that is always blue because he's about ice. Smoke = Gray, see the color of smoke... Not to begin about Noob Saibot, who has a joke name + the color of shadows. Jade = mostly a green gemstone. Sonya and Tanya are named after the sisters of Boon himself!, Kobra has the K joke! Ermacs name is also based on a joke! Sheeva is named after Shiva. Kintaro is named after a freaking god. Skarlet is red, her entire being is red. Li Mei is named so that she could be put in Tekken. Mileena is mostly a Russian-girl name, but she's Edenian. Kenshi is named after a sword... ect.ect.ect

Well actually it is kind of hard to not think about the whole Prince reference thing when I see Rain because the joke is always there. When I see him wearing purple and see the health bar says Rain, how am I not supposed to remember the joke?

And even without the joke, I hate Rain period. His personality sucks. His gameplay is good but that's it. Can't say I like Rain at all.

But even then why does that bother you? If you hated KL I wouldn't give a shit.

I'd like to point out that not once did anyone even mention Rain being gay. You just came outta nowhere with that. The entire point was that Rain being a Prince reference is so painfully obvious. Honestly, if he wasn't wearing purple I'd probably forget about the joke because purple is so heavily associated with that song.

(And nothing about Noob's name even links to shadows. So no idea where you were going with that. And nobody knew Noob was the creators names spelled backwards at first either. But everybody immediately knew about where Rain's name came from.)

I'd better stop. If you want to judge Rain on his name and color in a cast full of similar jokes, then be my guest. Oh and the gay-thing started on youtube/facebook, where many heterosexual-guys like to hate on rain because they think he looks gay and purple is a gay color for girls. That's why i'm a little bit paranoid about it.

Definitely the hardest decision I've had to make yet, but that's how it goes.

Ermac - UMK3-T, I was never able to master Ermac. He was tied with Masked Subby (Bi Han??) as my least played ninja. In fact, I wasn't even a fan of his period until the Deception debut. I found more love for him in MK9 though, his reveal didn't really excite me, but once I used him and saw him in story mode I swooned. (Great reason why I'm not throwing the newcomers in MKX out yet.)

Rain - Rain was a boss in Trilogy. Flip floppy story but I loved his gameplay so much I didn't care. I thoroughly enjoyed his presence in MK9 too. They managed to revamp everything about him without losing the style I loved in MKT.
