Johnny. The decent and not stupid character from the previous game.

To be fair Johnny was one of the few to survive Raiden's Blunderness. That's gotta count for something.
He has survived the Blunder God (for now) so I gotta vote for him.

This is a no brainer. Nice to see one of the newbies getting their rears handed to them for a change.
Tomorrow will be Kotex...er, Kotal Kahn vs. Shao Kahn.

I think is a first family battle in history of tournament Mortal Kombat,i hope to,some succesor may be of Sonya who we never see to she married for Johnny Cace, but, every story about that is know,Cassie is combination of Sonya like another Special Forces, and Johnny Cage who is fun, imaginative, but very arrogant,Cassie is really cool and she have everything what have a Sonya, sorry father Cage, but your time is up,young characters have a advantage!!!

...because the thread-starter wishes it to be so?

Yeah. Reptile vs. Hotaru or something like that.

Johnny Cage, easily.
Way more charismatic, iconic and cooler than the cheap Jill Valentine/Nina Williams rip-off that is meant to replace him and Sonya Blade, two characters that are way more legitimate to be in Mortal Kombat than she is.

I think I'll get in trouble if I say what I really want to say, so I'll make it PG:
SCREW Cassie Cage!
SCREW Cassie Cage!

Cassie wins for me.
She's more diverse combat wise than he's ever been, and she's got the Military on her side, with all the training and resouces that go with it. She has to be formidable to have the military clout that she obviously does. She's probably a better strategist as well.
Only thing Cage really has that she doesn't is combat experience. Yeah, after weighing everything, Cassie wins.

How can you even determine that on just a few minutes of footage for a game that won't even be out until next year??

The ultimate survivor! The ultimate threat! Kabal - a masterless nomad fighting for the light with a darkened soul. Through technology and sheer force of will he resisted fatality once, but in a twisted timeline, no one is safe. Shinnok - fallen Elder God who conquered the throne of Netherrealm. Peering out from the inferno he watches with envious eyes, manipulating fates through his many agents in the mortal world. Will Shinnok claim Kabal's corrupt soul, or will the nomad spirit resist death once again? Who's next? Choose their destiny!... FIGHT!

Voting for my man, Shinnok. One of my top ten favorites and had a kick ass design in Armageddon (Alt costume with robes). Very cool character.

I have to say Kabal. I think he's one of the coolest characters in all of MK. He's just so fucking weird. Also, hookswords.
