My favorite Male character is Stryker: He became my favorite when I first played MK3! Also I use to watch Defenders Of The Realm everytime it came on and he was my favorite character on the show!! :) I love Stryker because of his moves and his differential persona compared to the Ninjas,Cyborgs,Monsters,Sorcerers,Gods,Monks and other MK creatures! He didn't need special powers or magical elements within his armor or suit! All he needed to be was Kurtis Stryker, the riot cop who relied on common sense,guns,taser,batons/nightsticks, grenades.ALL his police tactical knowledge and experience from dealing with big riots or a swarm of enemies! A lot of people bag on Stryker for not having powers or so called not fitting into the MK Universe but I say to those people their all wrong! Stryker was the Soul Survivor of Kahn's Invasion so in my eyes that means he had some form of knowledge to survive plus he was one of the chosen warriors to not have their soul taken! I will always adore Stryker more than any other character for that reason alone. But the coolest thing of all is this: Ron "FUCKING" Perlman voiced Stryker for Defenders Of The Realm!!!! Ron Perlman is the damn man I wish he was doing the voice over for this upcoming game as Stryker but hey it's cool! So yes am I a bit obsessed with Stryker yes but so be it!!! Also my Great Grandfather was a Riot Officer and I've seen him in action so hell yeah Stryker is the man! I also just want to say I hope that Stryker has his throwable nightsticks like he did in Defenders Of The Realm too bad they never implemented them in any of the games :( And I want Stryker in more MK games after this one! Not a one trick pony!

I think gay people do everything straight people do and rightfully so. I'm not really surprised there is a decent "gayming" community period.

Yeah same hear I never knew there were alot of gay MK fans, but hey my uncle is gay and he is the biggest Star Trek fan I have ever seen haha.

Though I have seen some people like freak on here out just because there were gay people, which I think it's cool that there are because I have many gay friends that play video games and arent just "ponies and fashion" as someone said above haha.

As a little black boy playing MK2, I was no doubt instantly drawn to Jax. He still remains my favorite male now that im an all grown up black boy lol. If you see a Jax/Mileena tag team - you know you are up against a fellow MKO gaymer!

Sometimes I wish Storm and Catwoman were Mortal Kombat creations. They definitely give Mileena a run for her money. I guess they can equate to Rihanna and Lady Gaga

As for the LGBT community like MK universe... I don't get why people would think we would not like MK, or StarTrek, or CSI... or Dexter... I mean, we are human who like... stuff. Our realm does't turn around DesperateHousewives, Will and Grace and RuPaul's DragRace.

What a fantastic thread this is! Thrilled to see so many of my fellow gaymers up here. And plus--we've made it to two pages without a homophobic comment! Considering that this is the Internet and all, that's actually pretty impressive.

I am a life-long, die-hard Sindel fan. She's fuckin' awesome. I'm actually surprised that more gay guys don't like her as much as Kitana or Sonya...I mean, in MK3 she basically looked like a (super hot) drag queen.

After that, my favorite is an even split between Sub-Zero and Johnny Cage. I've always been fascinated with people who manipulate ice, which explains the Sub-Zero fascination, and--to be frank--Johnny Cage is sexy and always, always shirtless. Chris Alexander as Cage in MKT? I'd eat him alive.



Mostly I think this is because the media suffers a tragic dearth of powerful gay characters. Think real hard about gay men on TV or in popular culture that you'd have as a role model. The only character that comes to mind for me is Will Truman from Will and Grace, who's basically a neutered twit...generally, gay men in the media are the female main character's floofy sidekick. That same character is also always cripplingly effeminate, devoid of all sexuality, and dumb as a box of hair.

So where do we go when there are no role models that resemble us? For a lot of us, that means going to the closest alternative--powerful women. These women remind us of what we would like to be capable of (be it shooting fireballs from our mouths or running for President), and do it while resembling the kind of people we already are (deviating from a masculine norm, sexual interest in men, dressing fantastic).

That, and it's really hard to keep a role model that you're sexually attracted to. The lines cross and the attraction gets all wonky.

I don't find it strange at all that there's a big gay population. The world is majority straight, and out of the gay people left there are bound to be a bunch on a fantasy game with powerful male and female characters, magic, and surrealism. Everyone wants an escape.

Favorite Female Character : Jade!!! I've loved her in all honesty since MKD. I PERSONALLY saw her as being Black in that game, and I NEVER see Black female characters kicking ass. She was authoritative in Konquest mode and powerful without being in your face about it. As Nicki Minaj would say "She's a bad bitch, she's uh she's uh bad bitch!" Sheeva is definitely a close second though.

Favorite Male Character: MAJOR tossup between Rain and Reptile. Rain was amazing in MKA. (As amazing as you can get with those gameplay mechanics anyway.) I loved his speed and his elemental powers. Reptile just also always struck me as cool. He's not human, and I've always had a thing for the underdog, beastly kind of characters.

Based on the first 2 pages of this thread, Jade seems to be a really popular choice, followed by Kitana and Sindel. I did think Mileena and Sonya would get a little more love so far, but I am happy Sheeva's been mentioned a couple times. Proud Gaymer here too, I'm surprised MK has so many gay fans! I wonder if it's the same with Street Fighter? (though having said that I know way too many Gay Jill Valentine fans...and Chris Redfield fans too, but for other reasons ;)

My favourite characters have always been Reptile and Mileena. Both are really fun to play with, I love the colours Purple and Green too so picking them wasn't a hard choice haha! Reptile always appealed to me because he's the underdog who gets treated like shit, yet despite this I know Reptile will get his day where he grows a pair of balls and kicks the shit out of his oppressors.

As for Mileena, I fell in love with her in Deception. Prior to that I was a huge Kitana fan, but although I love Kitana, Mileena totally stole the show in Deception. She was sassy, vampy, sexy and seductive and despite her flaws she was a very confident and alluring character. Plus she's shit crazy, what can you not like about that? :)

I'm also oddly drawn to Rain as a fighter, I think it's because not a lot of fans like him which makes me like him all the more, and (again) he wears Purple
which is cool! His playstyle is excellent and his moves are cool, I just hope we get to see more of him in future. Very fond of Smoke too, but his storyline in Deception was very bland, so as a result he was very underplayed in that game.

My three favourite females are: Mileena, Kitana and Jade (I love her too!)

Gaymer here as well, and always have been. My favorite male is Reptile, hands down. Female is probably a toss up with Kitana and Jade. They both are just too fucking fierce for words, but not to kick ass.

I've also taken much notice of other gaymers on this site. It's really cool, and I enjoy the connection we all have just because of that.
