- Eastman Talks "TMNT Annual," Why Movie Will Make Fans "Incredibly Happy"
It's been a four, almost five-year journey to bring the next "Turtles" movie to life since the time we pitched it. I know everybody is like, "Oh, Michael Bay, Michael Bay, Michael Bay, he's gonna ruin it! He's gonna destroy it!" But everyone I have encountered has been nothing more than incredibly sincere to try and bring the Turtles back in a way that's new, fresh and exciting, but with total respect to everything that's come before. I've read the script. I have a cameo in the move. It's awesome -- really fun.
What they've done with the film is going to make fans incredibly happy, including myself. The vision is awesome, the effects are incredible and the story will be something everybody can relate to and like. I'll leave it out there for the fans to let us know what they like in the end, but I'm very proud to be part of it. A lot of people are going to be surprised.
Interesting stamp of approval.

Last time I watched a Michael Bay film that involved CGI characters and a huge budget, I was bored most of the time because it focused mostly on Megan Fox and her boyfriend running around places.
Can't really say I'm looking forward to this.
Can't really say I'm looking forward to this.
I had such high hopes for this movie. I loved the turtles growing up, and really wanted to take my 4 year old son (who loves the old show, as well as the new) to see this. It was going to be his first theatre movie. Not now. We'll wait for Cars 3 or something :(
I hate bandwagon hatred on the internet, but Michael Bay has fully earned it this time around. At least the new show on nickelodeon is still pretty good.

It's easy to hate on Bay because his name is attached to it, but thinking logically,he didn't write the script, he's not directing the movie, he's there to go "Here's the budget, here's the time you have, here's the script. Go make this movie". If the movie turns out to be terrible, it'll be because of Jonathan Liebesman directing it along with Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec writing the thing and the actors involved.

I am sorry, but I don't think it works that way. Bay is finding money for the project, and as far as it can be said, everything in this project reeks of his involvement, from character designs to Bay-like cinematography. Basically he is the one approving of the Liebesmann' decisions. So, he is equally to blame for what going on with this project.
Blaming Bay for TMNT is like blaming Spielberg for the Transformers movies, and I've not seen any of that.
All I'm seeing is people targeting Michael Bay and character assassinating him every chance they get, finding any excuse to do so.
Haters gonna hate.

Sorry, but it actually does work that way. Since Bay is working on Transformers Age of Extinction, also due out this summer, there are 9 other people, 5 more producers and 4 executive producers who would be in charge of TMNT. As much as it might help you sleep at night to blame Bay for anything and everything that's wrong with the movie, truth is he isn't making all of, if any of the decisions. There's about 12 other people you can throw under the bus first before getting to him.

The situation is quite different from the Transformers movie. Whereas both Spielberg and Bay are accomplished directors with blockbusters under their belts and hence both can influence production of the movie, Liebiesmann, realistically speaking, is a noname. Yes, he made several movies, but his blockbusters didn't fare well with critics and he is not even close to the Bay level of influence.
He is more like a hired man to do a movie close to the style of the Transformers. So, it is not a stretch to assume, that it is Bay who calling the shots. And yes, it makes him the main target of the bashing, for obvious reasons to anyone who have seen both Transformers and TMNT trailers.
Haters have right to hate what could be described as rather bad adaption of the TMNT characters.

Yes, yes. Let's whitewash the guy from all responsibilities.
OK, whatever. If it make your appetite healthier and dreams fluffier, than I will not consider Bay the main problem with this project. Still, it doesn't make new TMNT movie look good.

I seem to remember Bay having a hand in the conceptual stages of the film.
If that's true, and there's an objection to be had about the basic conceptual direction of the thing, then Bay may deserve some ire. I'm not really up on it, but it may be the difference between a producer and a production company. One having little involvement, the other being responsible for constructing the franchise.

Like I said, making any and all excuses to target Bay for character assassination.
Bay isn't even an executive producer for TMNT, but ya just gotta throw that hate at an easy target, regardless of whether or not you're even aiming at the right person.
The fact you literally said it's an assumption that Bay is calling the shots proves this.

So, what? I should excuse myself for everything bad I have said and instantly love this movie NOW?! Will not do. Because this movie looks like crap, no matter who involved in production.
But, if it makes you feel better I will blame Liebiesmann for this project.
Not really, really.

- 6 New ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Posters Hit The Streets
Do I sense an attempt to create positive associations with other versions of the beloved Turtles?... The black & white cartoon versions are something I'd probably like to see. I'm not gonna see that.
