WWE will be reviving an old WCW tradition, as their PPV for this June will be called "The Great American Bash." The event will take place on the 27th in Norfolk, Virgina

Promotional photos of Torrie Wilson dressed as Uncle Sam will be used to market the event as well. WWE also plan to promote that members of the military will be able to view the PPV for free as well.

The Great American Bash was a series of summer events promoted by Jim Crockett Promotions in the late 1980s.

I bet if blade-tsung was still running this, it would have been posted days ago.

If DDp does come back it'll be on a semi-part time basis like Shawn Michaels. I doub't that DDP's back issues will alow him to go back to a full schedule.

Vince killed DDP's career along with Kanyon, and Perry Saturn. That stupid self motavational/stalker deal was just sad to see. If he were to regain some of his form and he was the DDp from WCW, then he'd make a good fit on Smackdown to give it more credability and depth of talent.

As for tonights Raw, I look for Shelton to get the dupe again, only to turn on his new friends and join EVO at some point, probably the PPV, and probably to help Orton beat Foley or HHH beat HBK/Benoit...

Just my prediction..

Wow, Grand Master Sexay came back on Raw!. One question though. Why the hell didn't he come back on SmackDown! and reunite with Rikishi and Scotty? wouldn't that make more sence?

Coach Vs Tagiri at Backlash sounds stupid. matches like these is why these single brand PPVs are a bad idea.

I read that the SmackDown! PPV in June is going to be called "The Great AMerican Bash". An old WCW PPV name. I think thats awesome!. And makes sence sence Kurt Angle is the SD! GM I guess.

Yea no kidding. Why the WWE does this crap is beyond me...they need tag teams BAD, and a tag team as over as 'Too Cool' would be good...ugh vince vince vince...tsk tsk..

Anyone besides myself find that while watching Raw last night, it was as though I was in another time, like WWF early 90's? I mean come on, the "Evil Coach", and "The Black Ninja", gimme a break. Poor Al Snow, the guy gets stuck with the lamest shit, and Coach is going to get his at Backlash, and how desperate are the WWE that they let Grandmaster Sexy fall back into their good graces? Nothing against him though, he looks alot better than when I last saw him on a TNA show, any way, he should go back to SD and re-team with Hotty and Rikishi.

Thanks to Pwinsiders for the following:

The WWE is very high on Garrison Cade and feel they can develop him into a "player" down the road.

Ric Flair is now off on his media blitz tour in the UK where he will have chats with fans and conduct several interviews.

Victoria and Lita worked on the weekend house shows to get ready for their match at Backlash. They were booked in a four way match where it came down between the two of them.

More news:

Hennan's WWE Return, 2004 Babe Of The Year:

Bobby Hennan met with Vince McMahon last week and there is a slight possibility that Hennan may be signed by WWE in some capacity.

Advertising for the 2004 Babe of the Year contest has officially begun. Check out 2004babe.WWE.com to view the ad, featuring Trish.

WWE (RAW) World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit was mentioned on E! Online's weekly "Watch With Kristin" chat, where Kristin discusses TV gossip and spoilers. Someone asked Kristin whether Chris Benoit would retain the title this Sunday and she pretended it was a question she really cared about then changed the subject saying 'French pastries are yummy.'

Bret Hart At Backlash? Radio Host Mentions Brock Lesnar, More;

A full page layout dedicated to Chris Benoit is set to be featured in Sun Media newspapers across Canada this week.

Unless things change in the next couple of days, Bret Hart will not be appearing at WWE Backlash. As of two days ago there had not even been any talk between Hart and Vince McMahon about the possibility.

The Score 670 AM radio station in Chicago did a post-RAW show and the co-host of the show Laurence Holmes claimed that Brock Lesnar would be dead in seven years. Not sure what context that was said in.

Latest On Kurt Angle's WWE Future; Will He Ever Wrestle Again?

Credit Pro Wrestling Torch:

To update on Kurt Angle's current plight with, he will not be working as a full-time wrestler even though he has been granted full medical clearance.

WWE are weisely playing it safe with the Olympic gold medalist and will only use him as a wrestler for pay-per-view's and occasional special events. Angle is not expected to work the May SmackDown! PPV which is understandable as WWE will be wanting to put his GM gimmick over.

WWE are well aware that Angle puts his all and then some when he steps into the squared circle, and for that reason do not want to risk using him only for his neck to worse and he would have to retire.

Official WWE.com Smackdown Preview:

From WWE.com:

SmackDown! comes to you next week from Indianapolis, where former World Tag Team Champions will face each other in one-on-one action. Rob Van Dam and Booker T used to be the closest of friends, but Booker T’s recent attitude change has put him at odds with nearly everybody – including his friends. Last week, RVD and Booker T were once again a tag team, when Booker suddenly abandoned RVD, leaving Van Dam to be defeated by the Big Show and Charlie Haas. Immediately, General Manager Kurt Angle set this match up for Thursday night.

As announced a week ago, Rico and Miss Jackie will make their runway arrival this week on SmackDown! Rico and Miss Jackie were once known as two of the most flamboyant RAW Superstars to ever enter the ring. Their introduction to SmackDown! fans should be every bit as wild as their best moments on RAW. Don’t miss the debut of this duo on SmackDown!

Last week, Angle announced John Bradshaw Layfield as the winner of the Great American Award and No. 1 Contender for the WWE Championship. Almost immediately, the stakes between JBL and Eddie Guerrero were raised when Guerrero stole and destroyed Bradshaw’s trophy. After two straight weeks of Guerrero destroying property of JBL, will the new No. 1 Contender have a reaction? When will these two finally meet for the WWE Championship? Look to SmackDown! for the answers.

All of this and more on SmackDown! at 8/7 CT on UPN!

For those that question his sincerity, Cena has been spotted with Freddie Foxxx, Melle Mel, Brand Nubian and others. Cena's album is scheduled to be released June 8th.

LOL! That's funny, cause it's true!

My money is on Benoit winning, because that's what all of the internet rumors are pointing to, and besides, old Trips is off to film another movie or finish Blade 3, or something, so either Benoit or Micheals.

Anyone besides me not going to shell out the big bucks to get Backlash? I'm only looking forward to just that match, and in the past, I've said I ain't gonna get a PPV for one lousy match, not when I can just hear/watch it on Raw the next night.

An In-Depth Update on the Steve Austin/WWE Situation:

Headline Posted by Chris Walters on 3:46:09 PM Apr/13/2004

Last we heard on Stone Cold Steve Austin is that he was in negotiations with WWE for a new signing. He had hired a new high powered, highly paid lawyer to do the negotiations for him.

From what we’ve heard, Austin and WWE right now are at a business stand off. The biggest problem, at this point, is who will have ownership of the “Stone Cold” name. Austin and company met with WWE last week and from what we hear the meeting went “well”. Both parties were said to be affable and left on good terms.

Some internally with the company are perplexed with the fact that Austin hired such an expensive lawyer who’s not at all experienced with negotiating wrestlers’ contracts. It is well known that with WWE you often take as much as you can get and give it up, because WWE is more than willing to move on without you.

As they have showed as of late, there has been absolutely no mention of Steve Austin on RAW nor on the WWE website.

Also, many wrestlers are torn between Austin taking his ball and going home again, and WWE being a bit harsh with a name Austin’s wife came up with and Austin made infamous. However, WWE legally trademarked the name and have all rights to it.

Austin wants full control over the name, while WWE wants a piece of any action Austin makes out side the company using “Stone Cold” Steve Austin as his name. Internally, WWE feels that they should just move on. As they see it, fans will not see Steve Austin in the public eye and forget about him, which will make negotiations much more difficult for Austin and his lawyer.

I won't mind if Chris Benoit retains the title, or if Shawn Michaels wins it. just as long as Triple H doesn't win.

Anyways, Spoilers regarding SmackDown! below....

In one of the more stranger moments of the night, a promo was aired
regarding a man named Mordecai. He wears a white robe, all of his hair
is white, and he says he is working for the father. His logo is a
variation of the Christian cross. I really have no idea who the
wrestler is.

I think this is pretty badass. WWE is going to debute a new goth-like charater. and even better is thats hes going to debute on SmackDown!. Maybe he'll have a feud with The Undertaker or something. If you wanna see the wrestler whos going to play the charater. hes on the OVW website as "Seven"

Yeah when I read the spoilers, and I read that part, it seemed pretty cool. I can't wait to see what this new character is, reminds me of Raiden from the first MK movie. This week Smackdown seems decent, better than the past weeks, but then again that ain't saying much. RVD getting the DQ win sucks though and Kurt falling two stories high seems crazy.

Heh, I actually downloaded a couple of WWE Originals songs. Rikishi's slow dance song is the most corniest/funniest/stupidest song I ever heard. Jericho's song is pretty decent, Booker T's song just sucks, and Cena's song is exactlly the same as his theme music. So its a pretty cool song. I've been trying to get Kurt Angle's song because I heard it was the funniest one but dammit, no luck.

The rest of the song I couldn't give a rats ass about.
