The 1954 original Gojira is still one of the greatest and most symbolic movies ever, no matter how outdated the effects are.

Since then, some of the films have been good (Mothra vs. Godzilla, Ghidrah:TTHM, Detroy All Monsters, Godzilla vs. Destroyah, and GMK) an some have been wy too corny (GvsMegalon, Gvs.Gigan, GvsSpaceGodzilla), but there is no character in the world with the history and reputation greater than Godzilla.

Yes, GFW should be great. I have both Azumi and Versus, and while Versus is a bit wierd, Azumi is one of the greatest films I have watched. So, I definitely have faith in Kitamura.

Oh, and for those of you hoping to see Ghidorah, it was confirmed that Monster X is going to turn into the most powerful Ghidorah of all: KaiserGhidorah!

As for the costumes, Gigan and Rodan look great. As does Monster X, Ebirah, Kamacuras, Hedrah, and Rodan. Godzilla looks ok, but I hoped he looked either like he did in 1954 or they gave him a more evil, sinister look. More menacing. I'm dissappointed with Angilas, he looked much more fierce in 1955 and the 60's. Kumonga is dull and Seesar looks more or less the same to me. And Minya should just die.

Finally, no matterwhat the outcome and fate of all the monsters, 2004 is definitely the year of the Godzilla.

The movie is looking great so far. Same with Save the Earth. However, I wonder why they decided to bring all of these abstract monsters back with Final Wars...you would think fan favorites such as King Ghidorah and Mecha Godzila would make the cut.

Also, can anyone fill me on this 2002 Godzilla film? The last (true) Godzilla movie that I know of was Godzilla Vs. Destroyah.

I'm a huge fan of Godzilla, only problem with the next film is the rumors that the big G will die at the end, the new suits are great, except for Minya, I'd like to know how many people were disappointed at Godzilla against Mechagodzilla after seeing the (in my eyes) great Godzilla, mothra, King Guidorah: Giant monster all-out attack.Mebe I was expecting too much.

I think it would be cooler if they had some of the new looks for the monsters in save the earth. That would be my only gripe with the game, aside from that I think I'd enjoy beating ass with Gigan, Space Godzilla, and godzilla. The movie is looking cool and I love how Gigan looks, that is one of the main reasons I'd want updated monster looks in save the earth would be to have that Gigan playable.

Nice to see a little healthy obsessiveness in the world every now and again. Not making fun of you I have areas of interest I lose my mind over as well. This thread is cool though, I didn't know about the new Godzilla movie till you posted this so thanks. Definitely something I'll be looking into.

I'm surprised you missed Godzilla 2000 since it was released in U.S. theaters. Then the next film was Godzilla x Megaguirus, where Godzilla battled a huge mutated dragonfly. Then came the LEGENDARY GMK. You have to watch this one. In i, Godzilla is the most powerful and the evil of all time. Mothra, Baragon, and King Ghidorah are the three guardian beasts. Godzilla in this movie is so bad-ass. Then came Godzilla against MechaGodzilla. This MechaGodzilla is constructed from the skeleton of the Godzilla that appeared in 1954. He is built to battle the new, less-impressive Godzilla. Then came GMMG:Tokyo SOS. I have not seen this one yet, but it is a direct sequal to Godzilla against MechaGodzilla and Mothra is thrown into the mix. I heard the fight is incredible.

Bearing this in mind, I can actually back up my previous statement:
xcarnagex Wrote:
Godzilla would be a better president than Bush.

"The era of humans fight [sic] against each other is over, and the new era of humans fight [sic] against the menace of Kaijus has begun".

Dubya, meanwhile, is responsible for the most polarized nation since at least Vietnam, and the most polarized world since the Cold War.

Godzilla, on the other hand, is a uniter, not a divider!

And when the "Earth Defense Force was born," I guarantee you NOBODY- not Canada, not France, not even Michael Moore- was saying we were being led to war for fictitious reasons.

Also, unlike Bush, Godzilla himself has actually SEEN combat himself: with the military, with Destroyah, with Mechagodzilla, with Mothra, with King Ghidorah, with Gigan, with Hedora, shit, even with King Kong; and no doubt a shitload more. I'm not a huge Godzilla fan, and I don't know his whole resume, but I made that list with a quick check on IMDb.com, so with their undoubtably superior research methods, I'm confident the Democrats won't be accusing Godzilla of being AWOL.

GODZILLA FOR PRESIDENT!

On a more serious note...or maybe it's less serious, but more on-topic...

Anyway, I feel I should mention that I'm not a really big Godzilla fan; I've barely seen any of the Toho Godzilla movies. I know I kinda saw the original 1954 one, but that was several years ago, when the WB channel (I THINK it was WB) was showing a Godzilla marathon, and I don't remember if I saw all of it, most of it, or just a tiny bit of it. I also saw tiny bits of a couple other random Godzilla movies, and I saw the one with Matthew Broderick that everyone apparently hates.

I do kinda like the Godzilla franchise, partly because of the whole Japanese sci-fi, poorly-dubbed cheesiness of it all, and partly because Godzilla himself is just damn cool. But I never really liked the idea of him being a man in a suit, or his complete and utter lack of agility (ie. his mostrously, disproportionately think legs), and that's one thing I actually found appealing about the aforementioned '98 version with Matthew Broderick, since the computer-generated Godzilla there was so much more swift and agile.

Very interesting. I really liked those first pictures of the monsters. My favorite has to be that sea-mk-like dragon! It looked awesome!

I remember that butterfly, I really liked the design for it even though it wasn’t that original.

I have always liked Godzilla, Im not a big fan, but I like it. grin

Great thread dude and thanks for all those awesome pics!!

The new GFW Godzilla will be more agile. His legs are skinnier so he can run with ease if he needs too. His arms are also slimmer. In one scene, Godzilla is supposed to be fighting Angilas in Shangai and they run towards each other. As they do this, Godzilla leaps onto Angilas and jumps off of him. Then Godzilla lands and slides across the ground from the momentum. Right before Godzilla collides with a mountain, he quickly spins around and glares at his enemy.
