Isn't the coutdown associated with the possible date of the Midway's Gamers Convention in mi-April where MK8 will be shown?

I'm pretty sure it's counting down to a big crisis.
Armageddon will destroy the realms, but then there'll be a new bunch of realms, and Scorpion-Prime will go crazy and fight Monster-Scorpion while Inferno-Scorpion comes in from the alternate future, and there'll be all kinds of hardcore multiple Earth crazy.

Also, Liu Kang will die because he's stupid and has girly hair.
