I wouldn't be surprised if the next game turns out to be a piece of trash. They will probably have characters share alot of the same moves and will have characters claiming to be using authentic fighting styles that dont hold up to what their supposed to look like. Also alot of the characters will turn out to look generic and unoriginal. Not to mention a broken ass fighting system and clunky animations. Hell, I bet the gameplay will be alot like the 2d games again, you know very simplistic. hahahaha!!! It will probaly turn out an mmorpg. stupid fans

first off midway signed a deal with DC back in 2002 for the rights to use the DC characters in there games.

In 2004 the canceled production of the justce league game they were suppose to make, but have been in finical troubles, so the plug was pulled.

so to say this so called rumor is untrue, is not as far fetched as u peopel think.. they already have the contract with dc since 2002 and it would make perfect sense for them to finally use and make money off something they signed in 2002.

Which DC game specifically are you referring to here in 04? Because in 06 they made Justice League Heroes which was a pretty good game so what other game are you referring to?

Also, if you don't mind do you have a link where I can read this Midway/DC contract? And is this with all DC characters or certain ones? Anyone here that follows DC knows there's literally TONS of characters in the DC universe just as much if not more actually then Marvel Comics.

I happen to personally like both franchises and said this months ago that I wouldn't mind it IF it happened but just can't see it happening due to MK's style and DC's flagship characters not wanting to have their head ripped off or something lol. If DC agrees to that and there really is a contract that Midway/DC agreed to in 02 there has to be some proof of this.

I'm going to check this out right now online to see what I can find, this whole thing has me very curious now....

Ahh, come on MK has not been a pos since MK3, that's just your own view. It's one of the few fighting games out there that actually introduces good new characters and not shitty ones like other games have over the years

MK's made good money over the years, it did better years ago of course with the 2D games but is still good enough to go on and I noticed especially on this site lots of fans like different MK games...I love all of them(won't find many fans like that) I'm the same way with DC, anything Superman, GL or Batman I like way more then Marvel. X-men is Marvel's version of the Justice League more or less but does have some cool characters.

Last two MK's could have been better, still fun but MK:DA was awesome. And I personally feel MK4 is way underrated, yeah it's not the "best" MK but it's not nearly as bad as some fans make it out to be.

Characters, well that's another fan thing. I like Quan, Kenshi, Dairou, Havik and a few others

Red is right on this one. This game is happening. I work next door to Midway in Austin at the Domain, and those guys talk alot on their smoke breaks.

MK vs DC is real. The main reason why we haven't seen character models and any sneak peaks is because Midway artists suck, and DC wanted them to remake the character models.

Believe what you want guys, but Red and I have been on the mk scene for quite a longtime, and we wouldn't blow smoke up your ass

This isnt really a situation where I ask questions, and they just blurt out answers. We just share a common area with Midway's building, and I listen to them bitch about current projects at the Austin studio and internal politics.

I think Boon is trying to create a buzz, which is his job as he oversees the MK projects as an adviser.

We'll see about that, not going to call anyone a liar or believe anything either way..just yet until Midway or DC actually confirm something either way.

To be fair to everyone since we know nothing for "sure" yet I'll believe it when I see it, but won't be against it IF is does happen. Being a big fan of both franchises, don't care what anyone says it'll be interesting to see. BTW, midway artists don't suck? lol the revamped looks of tons of MK characters were freaking awesome as an artist myself, I feel Midway's artists for the most part have done a pretty good job. The reason we haven't seen anything yet is because Midway is keeping a lid on things keeping everyone in suspense. Not to mention I also know a friend who works for EA that I met thru someone from xbox live and developers with a big name sometimes do this, they have to keep a lid on things until a certain point depending on the game and what they're told to do.

From what I gathered during the conversations I overheard...is DC was unhappy with the art direction of the models of superheroes, and told midway to redo them. And from the tone, it seems DC felt Midway could have done better.

MK isn't dead storyline wise....just one chapter ended, big difference. They're starting fresh and will bring back some of the returning cast from MK. Crossover or not with DC, they can do lots of things with the storyline now. Pre-MK, Post MKA, a whole new storyline all together, many years in the future if MK8 turns out to be a crossover, obviously Midway and DC could cook up something good.



lol, even if that's true which no offense but we only have your word for that that doesn't make it fact. Why the hell would DC allow Midway to draw their concepts because each company should just do their own characters first off, second off if this "merge" is true, then that means that both would be working together obviously....

I'm not in denial of anything, just stating a good point. And if you're referring to MK vs. DC, like I said I'll believe it when I see it. There's a guy on here that used to work for midway, he's even said nothing of the source and I'm sure he has inside sources so like I said, hardly in denial when there's no facts or substantial evidence to back it up in this point in time.

On the art concept, like I said, I'm a huge fan of both series and I know darn well that neither company would allow the other do to the artwork for a character they don't have the rights to in the first place, not without some kind of supervision from the other company.

Example, I'm sure midway doens't want Capcom to alter Sub-Zero's MK8 design if it's not true to his background and character, and nor would DC want Midway to redo Superman I'm sure.

Just a theory I have personally, since you're saying you know due to midway sources employees right next to you chatting with you on coffee and smoke breaks. So whoever told you this would get in trouble a lot more then an ex-midway worker by far in this case leaking info on a new game that's supposed to be "closed" to public knowledge.......so if that's true that someones telling you this, then A. They either don't care much about risk and losing their job or B. They're bsing you

Also, just so you know ex-employees can't get in trouble for speculation or possible information unless it's company security or stock information. My father works for a worldwide known company that I won't give so I've become aware of this legal stuff the past few years lol

Although I agree with you on the idea of the crossover not being a good one for these two franchises(despite the fact that I'm a fan of both) since MK's so dark and serious and all but at the same time, I wouldn't just call DC's flagship characters cartoony comic characters, DC/JL inspired the Marvel comics X-men, Spider-man and everything after it. Even Superman since he's existed since the late 1930's/1940's is still known as the most iconic fictional character ever made to this day.(him and mickey mouse for those wondering lol)

Both series nothing in common other then there's heroes and villians...in which every series has. If it does happen, it won't be the first time a silly crossover has been done, Darth Vader and Yoda will be in SC4, Capcom/SF characters vs. X-men characters in MvC2 was dumb in concept with match ups like Hulk vs. Ryu? or Spider-man vs. Megaman? umm ok then lol....

Superman vs. Raiden, hmmm can you say pointless? lol

Batman vs. Kung Lao(good match up actually if you think about it)

Wonder Woman vs. any female in MK, she'd still win

GL vs. Quan or Shang, Sorcery vs. anything you can think of because GL's ring is just sick

Some matchs ups might be interesting but most will be silly if you think about it

First off, I'm not trying to make this about DC Comics being stupid. The fact that I don't like them is not why I think it's a stupid idea. In fact, I like the new Batman movies and how they look and Superman could have been good, too.

But when you mix them with MK, it's retarded. Doesn't even need to be said, really. Scorpion and Wonder Woman don't go together. It's absolutely no contest as far as coolness goes. An extremely dark concept of Batman is the only one that is feasible, and even then, it's ridiculous.

As for other crossover games like Marvel vs. Capcom... those are all cartoons anyway. While the story makes no sense (another reason I don't see DC being part of MK's "rebirth") it was doable due to similar animations and such. Actually, the reason it's doable is because Street Fighter had no story to consider. Or if it did, it was nowhere near MK's level.

And about Soul Calibur 4... while I'm not a big fan of the series anyway(didn't play it much), the fact that they decided to add Darth Vader and Yoda to the game is 100% lame. How could that be cool? I don't get it.
