lol you mean you like playing on your low resolution tv not some silly high resolution monitor and superior control keyboard?

Some people love to sit back on their couch 100 feet away from their 60" TV when in perspective it's the same as sitting normal distance from your monitor, and keyboard thing, that's a matter of coordination.

Keyboard has definite advantages for sure, and it can't be beat for precision control. I stick to my arcade stick but I recognize the benefits of of the KB. One thing I like about the stick is that I take advantage of the "snap-back" effect for certain moves. The stick requires very little motion to register the input, so for a "down-up" teleport move I just flick the stick all the way down. By moving it down all the way, the extra "swing" momentum on the way back causes it to go slightly past the center and register an "up" input. So when I pick Raiden, I abuse teleports like a mofo. His superman can also be whipped out with lightening speed, using the same snap-back principle.
Agreed that this is all moot if you are skilled enough with a keyboard, but... I ain't skilled enough And of course the KB also gives you advantage of "illegal" buffering, which is always fun.

I try not to use the illegal buffering, if I catch myself using it, I'll just stop what I'm doing and do it the legal way, it is possible to buffer things like teleport punches and harpoons while ducking in the arcade, but it is very difficult. Overall, the KB is great in all aspects, except maybe run jabbing cause it can tend to stick. It's especially easy to get dragon punche motions sorta like slams with Ermac and stuff on the keyoard, but you have to learn how to get it to work right, once you do, you can't be any more accurate.

My umk3 on mame32 .67 is quite choppy, how should i set it so that its as crisp as possible? thanks guys.
woooooot! a kaillera mk community! When kaillera was still fairly new it was near impossible to find someone who would play mortal kombat (and when you did it wouldn't last more then a few matches). Everyone who was on only wanted to play SF or KOF.
How's the lag now? you used to not be able to go outside of your state for a decent game. are macros and illegal key registering a problem? is there still weird in game crashes?
As soon as I get the money to replace the cpu in my cab I'll setup kaillera for some battles and post my info on here, as long as I don't have to fight that guy ripping everyone a new anal cavity with H.Smoke in umk3. you're seriously sick man.
You should add controller preference to the list of players. I'll play anyone on any type of controller but I'd perfer fighting someone who is using the same type of controller as me (arcade). location would be good too if lag is still a problem.

If you can get someone who lives within a server area where you both get under 50ms, and no one in the room, late at night...lol..you can have near perfect netplay. It's just inherently bad.
I use the keyboard, and so do a lot of other people, but I can use a stick (even with a sprained hand in the most recent match videos I posted from the break), or gamepad as well on PSX MKT, but I also have a stick for PSX that I can use on the comp. It's just easier to use the keyboard and also a lot more accurate. On most sticks I can rarely get Telekinetic lifts to work with Ermac so I never use him, same goes for Kung Lao, no spins = no juggles. The PSX stick I have is like a Jap stick so it's a lot better than the abused sticks you come across in arcades.
I was thinking about actually adding a game preference column to the list as well, stick/controller preference I really don't think is necessary as this is mainly for getting people to know who plays, and who plays what might be a good idea.
Where abouts do you live?

Go ahead and add my names there too. Same as on here. You can put that info in an HTML table so it's less of a hassle to use that "-" all the time.
On that throught, how about a Zbattle list for anyone who uses that too?

That's why you get lag, but it could also have something to do with your computer, unfortunately you're never going to have a decent game against anyone from the states, a Mexico server would be the best and there's usually one on there, however, try to get in some games with the guys from Venezuela, you should be able to have decent games with them on maybe a Brazil server.

BustaUppa and I had some more great matches again earlier! All very close, and very exciting. Seems we usualy play about 30 matches, and I gotta say it must be close to 15-15 every time, we are pretty evenly matched. The end was crazy though, playing some sick randper games, those are always great fun
Oh, and when we were playing something crossed my mind that I have been meaning to ask... A lot of games I play on Kailerra, me and my opponent put in the "Throwing Encouraged" code, and I never really know why...Sure it sounds cool when u pull a throw, but is there any real reason as to why you guys put in 010-010? I've been wondering for a while now...

Yeah from playing the 2 of you I'm not surprised at the 50/50 outcomes.
We do throwing encouraged mostly in spite of people who say throwing is stupid and turn it off to "enhance" gameplay. It's a tradition now. It doesn't change anything about the game except adds a little flavor to the matches in terms of commentary.

Yeah man those were some hot games. And after all those intense close matches, it was sweet to unwind with some Randper Kombat silliness. I had totally forgotten about that code. Would that work with a 2-on-2 match? We should try that next time.BustaUppa and I had some more great matches again earlier! All very close, and very exciting. Ah, cool I never knew. I just did it cus my opponents press 010 at the KK screen and I'd seen it in gameplay vids, plus like you said - the extra commentary is nice It's cool to know there a reason and some history behind it too...

Yeah, our matches were intense - gets me all worked up sometimes, especialy when it's the 3rd round and both are 1 hit away from dyin Gotta love the games that go down to the wire in the 3rd round, that's what playing UMK3 is all about. I like finishing with the randper silliness too, it's a cool way to conclude the match I dunno if it works on 2 on 2, hopefully someone can say, but if it does for sure we'll do that next time...

WinUAE? Isn't that an Amiga emulator or something? Go to MK2KB's site for the right version, there's links for it somewhere in this thread. i gotta get in with u guys on UMK3 sometime

I have a better more reliable internet connection now and tested it last night vs Matt. I had 70ms compared to my usual 100-140ms ping times and wow, I could actually do some anti air lol...I'll be playing more Kaillera now that I can actually play.
