To each their own, you can say I'm sucking NRS's dick or whatever but I love every decision they made. The story was written well, the boss was interesting as intimidating, Shinnok was a great villain, they finally made him seem intimidating.

Great game, it met my highest expectations and more

Shinnok was great but I disagree with his boss form being anything near good. I give story mode 7/10 but I give the gameplay and the rest of the features 10/10. I understand why people are disgruntled with the story. Too short, it didn't capture the essence of Kittelson's story development one bit, and some of the lines and even the voice acting just didn't hit the mark. The real positive is that you see the story truly developing into what could be great. I hope to see future spinoffs. Maybe Fire&Ice. But they were really playing up a Special Forces game that could be quite interesting. Kenshi wants his son Takeda to take down Red Dragon together. Scorpion has gotten rid of Quan Chi but he and the Shirai Ryu maybe a new target for the Special Forces to take down and how will Takeda deal with something like that. Hanzo was more a father to him than Kenshi was. Of course Jacqui, Kung Jin, and Cassie would play a role. Then again maybe I have too much hope for the future of MK.

I loved the story mode also, it had pros in cons in it and it should of been longer. But overall, I liked it

Yeah, mix the krypt with story mode elements. The krypt in mkx has a big map, different areas, puzzle elements, secrets and QTE's. unlock stuff while completing story mode, seriously this could work or am i missing something?

Im sure im not the only one dying for exploring realms etc.

wasnt shinnok beaten by johnny cage in the first chapter? Quite an intimidating opponent, lol.

And the great sorcerer Quan chi was K.O by just 1 kick. thats a serious insult to the great sorcerers of NR.

I personally don't celebrate consistent lies and misinformation from the company, constantl bug-filled titles, storylines where the people in charge can't even keep up with canon, and now, nickel-and-dime DLC bullshit. If you're into that, fine.

I personally loathe it.

This

Also, Demon Form Shinnok > Regular Shinnok, imo :)

Demon Shinnok is so painfully generic you could interchange it with whatever mid boss from some dungeon crawler or MMORPG and nobody would even notice.

Been saying it from the start, it's a dangerous thing whenever tie-in products show up; there's always some manner of disconnect unless both works are done by the same people.

Can't really lay this at Kittlesen's or the story writers' feet; marketing strikes again.

Enjoyed boss Shinnok, incidentally. Very happy to see an evolution of sorts on his Mythologies demon form even if the rock/lava uberboss theme is getting old (it really is).

Well I guess its good that I don't play dungeons and dragons or w.e lol

I think he looks sick, especially his win pose. It looks leagues better than his original demon form in MKMSZ and it fits the character imo. For a fallen elder god who was banished to the netherrealm I think he looks just about right in his demon form.

Good gameplay and actually great dialogue between the characters. Compared to other MK's the dialogue is superior in every way. Someone with some actually experience in writing must have created it.
The story for me is a real lowlight of this game. Don't really know why it had to be set so far in the future with some many terrible new characters ( I do like Dvorah, Ferra and Kotal)
Since MK9 spanned 3 games, this could have done a bit more, I would have preferred them show what Shujinko and Taven are doing at this point in time. Blaze could have had some involvement, along with Damashi manipulating things.
I prefer what Virtual fighter do, add a couple of well thought out characters every game not a bunch of uninteresting ones all at once.
All that happens is MK fans complain, they only ones they have really liked since the move to 3d is Reiko, Le Mei, Tanya, Fujin and Havik

The hell it is!

WHAT was the fucking point of the comic if it has fuck all to do with the actual story of the game?

The comic got me excited for one thing but the game actually has something totally different that is boring as paste compared to what I was anticipating.

Well, judging by how completely abysmal the storytelling in the story mode was, it's probably in everyone's best interest that the game and comics are separate.

People are acting as if NRS neglected some civic duty by omitting Havik. When you think about it, he hasn't done anything noteworthy in the games at all.

It's still all a bit new, but on the whole I'm loving it.
I'm not keen on the four new kids, their moves being duplicated by older, better characters.
Kotal, Torr, Black and, to a lesser extent, D'votsit? are good. Kotal I like alot, finding him a little awkward, but I like a challenge.

Story mode seems to exist merely to introduce the new characters and get a feel for the game. Nothing special, but it's not the game's main focus.
Which is a one-on-one(I miss 2v2) fighter and it excels.

Purely on roster, I'm so far preferring 9 because, even though there were characters I wasn't keen on, they were all unique and I enjoyed playing them all. Not the case here, but it's still fun.
