Raiden was not the first & only character in MK history to use an updated version of their "classic" costume as an alt.

In fairness it's also his MKDA primary not just his MK3 look. We've only seen all white Raiden in the past.

Shinnok can still be playable

Sub-Zero didn't go back. At this point, he's supposed to be wearing that outfit by now.

Shinnonk was banished during the time of the dinosaurs. Then the mk4 plot (post-mk9, NetherRealm War) has Shinnok escape thanx to QuanChi. The trailer we saw shows him being defeated after this. I assume the amulet is now equivalent to the Phantom-Zone projector from Superman Comix. So Raiden imprisons him a second time. This is also stated to be fact on the very 1st page of comic issues 2 and 3.

Regardless of the new timeline everything that happened in pre MK1 cannon still happened. In regards to Shinnok he was banished to the neatherrrealm. Quan chi helps him well have, a, small portion of story devoted to it. But this game will not and shouldn't be a complete rehash of MK4. Which is, why I don't think shinnok is the, major threat. I believe Mileena with the Amulet is final boss. Unless the red cloud is something. Course that could, be related to the demon Raiden is after in the comics. Unless that's only comic related

And that basically deconfirms him as playable since thats johnny and sonya with raiden.

Those alternate costumes where simply nostalgia fan service and has no meaning compared to what we are discussing here. Where in MKX, seeing this oldschool Raiden in the trailer means SOMETHING.

UNLESS his MKX blue & gold outfit is some kinda award from the elder gods for beating Shinnok a 2nd time? Then storywisie, the new fit gives raiden a powerboost, allowing his new variations. I won't get in to the story debate as none of us know. However, Shinnok clearly is wearing a new, gorgeous outfit, and that bodes well that he is playable. My guess is the red mist in the trailer is Shinnok being freed from the amulet. Whatever the meaning of the amulet scene, and the red mist scene, I find it hard to believe they would end MK9 with Shinnok and Quan Chi talking about how things are going as planned, then start MK10 by just offing Shinnok at the start. Guess we will all know on, or before, the middle of April! Until the, let the debate(s) rage on.

Raiden spent the span of 3 games wearing the same wardrobe. After MK9 he went home and changed his clothes.

Because I highly doubt there will be any time travel involved. They may have been mum on story specifics but the one thing they drilled into everybody's heads is the fact the game takes place 25 years after MK9 and that the flashbacks are merely just going to fill in the gaps about what happened after MK9 so that the story jumps around a bit. That's all it is. Raiden traps Shinnok's ugly self, Johnny weakens him and Sonya's passed out on the floor. If anything, Raiden wearing his alternate (MK1 outfit) just makes him look more badass doing it. Besides, we can already assume characters will have more than one alternate. Kitana sure does.

Uhhhhh........you DO realize they showed off that exact costume as Kitana concept art on the KombatKast stream....right?

That escene was the end of the netherrealm War, that costume is not from mk1, in the neww time line, Raiden MK1 outfit is MK9 outfit, Also the ones helping him are cleary Jhonny and Sonya, Why? Because they where the only survivors of team raiden from MK9. Nevertheless I think Shinnok will be playble, maybe he will scape from the amulet in another part of the game and will co operate with (or manipulate) the "Big bad guy".
