Honestly I think those rumors might be b.s., but I wouldn't rule out at least a few returning that weren't in MK9. I'd say maybe Tanya, Kenshi, Bo' Rai Cho, Havik, and Hotaru MIGHT have a chance. Probably not 8 returning but at least 3-5.

Obviously i believe there will be returning characters from those games, but 8 is too many considering there are not many popular ones left. So i never believed the rumor.

There are many great characters from MKDA to MKA. Way more than 8.

I personally dont see them having more than 4 chars from mk4-mk6. I mean if theyt chose the roster spots to max out potential sales then it wouldnt make sense for them to have more than 4 chars from mk4-6 because the most popular chars all are the chars from mk1 and 2, thus more of those chars generate to some degree more sales.

Now the problem with everything i just said is Kano.... Him in the game basically throws out my other paragraph. I like Kano, he actually is a top ten fav mk char of mine so i dont mind his inclusion to mkx at all.... However Kano never has been that popular of a character ever... At least not in the US. I have pondered if he is more popular of a char around the world? Anyways if it was my decision and i wanted to max sales with a good roster for that... And i had decided im gonna go the rout of a lot new characters.... Yeah im not so sure Kano would make the cut.... So since he is in the game, who knows what could be next or who.... I still highly doubt sonya and johnny so we will see soon enough....

So picking only 4 of those would be a challenge. For the record of those i think Quan, Tanya, Kenshi have best chances of being in. And Daegon i think of as a possibility mainly because he makes cameo appearance in mk9 that i think might hint to seeing him in the future.

Hey dont get me mistaken... I dont like Daegon at all nor want him in mkx and i think less than 1% of fans even give a shit about him. However i just get the feeling that they put him fighting on the bridge on pit stage instead of blaze, it makes me wonder if it is hinting they might include him in the future? It could just as likely mean nothing, but that background fight originally with blaze in mk2 turned into meaning a bit to the story line.

I dont buy it either, I agree with the OP's points. From MK4-A I honestly think 1 will return. Shinnok. I strongly believe MKX is striving to differentiate itself from the past; I believe that is the reason for NRS Making the Story a Time Jump in the first place. Since Kenshi and Quan chi were in MK9 they count towards returning MK9. Tanya and fujin will probably be DLC

Fujin - I could possibly see Fujin being in a roster spot due to story. (in which case the [toss up] spot would be eliminated])

There was a rumor some time ago about a leaked X ray move that looked very much like Tanya ́s MK4 Fatality..

Anyway, doing a smart predicition, I would say that at LEAST this post mk4-mkd characters are in:

Quan Chi (obvious reasons, and dying this game)
Shinnok (showed up at the end of MK9, so yeah)
Tanya (has been in more than 2 normal MKgames, plus the leaked xray)
Fujin ( If we get that many god like charactersm why not Fujin?)

These 4 I guess are all shoe in... As much as I would love Reiko, Kenshi, Havik and Sareena to be in, I think the first 4 ones are more likely.

8 seems like a reach. I'd love to believe it though.

Taven (is he skilled in battle only because he's a demigod or did he receive proper training somewhere? and by whom? he was born much earlier than Daegon, probably thousands of years earlier. what has he done all those years? what realms did he cross? what fights did he fight? he didn't just engage lesser Edenians in sporting competitions. what is his relationship with Kitana? did he know Rain before the latter put on the mask?)

Daegon (what tragic event made him go insane? why would he believe Shinnok over his parents? if he grew up in Edenia before it was conquered by Shao Kahn, what is his relationship with Kitana?)

Reiko (why does he hate Quan Chi? what's his relation to Shao Kahn? is there a mutual respect thing? is he evil or does he genuinely believe in the Emperor's actions?)

Havik (how old? who is his god Kochal? what triggered the Tempest? is he immortal?)

Hotaru (immortal? does he occupy the highest position in the Seidan military?)

Ashrah (how did she get into QuanChi's service? what evil did she do in her life that she ended up in the Netherealm? can a demon cleanse its soul or is she destined to remain in the Netherealm?)

Tanya (what was she doing during the Edenian War? we know she's the daughter of an ambassador, which means that she received a high education. probably lived in the palace. what's her relationship with Kitana? she reminds me of Qali from MK Conquest. could she have been forced to change her name after Kahn's occupation of Edenia?)

Blaze (was he a normal Delia worshiper before his transformation? did he give up his life in order to be a vessel for the power of the Elder Gods? did he have a family?)

Drahmin (at which point was he an evil Outworld warlord? did he serve Shao Kahn? what did he do that he was sent to Hell?)

Moloch (is he the Ammonite god worshiped in the ancient Middle East? is he connected to Lucifer, former ruler of the Netherealm?)

The Dragon King (is he from the same race as Orin and Caro? is he related to the Elder Gods? was he a wise ruler, as Hotaru remembers him? why did he become corrupted? how did Shao Kahn manage to kill him? are Shao Kahn's shadow priests dissidents of his holy men?)

I could make similar arguments for Sareena, Nitara, BoRaiCho, Li Mei. If you don't want to find out more about these characters and instead want to have Kano getting his ass kicked AGAIN in storymode by a girl, whether Sonya or her descendent, or have Cyrax and Jax working as cops to stop some silly thugs, then you're not into the same type of MK entertainment I am.

Ok so the theory sprouts from info gathered by some guy that visited the studio..... I call the whole thing bullshit because he says he visited the studio in Chicago........ Correct me if im wrong but they moved the team from chicago to new york when they made mk9.

I'd take out Hotaru for someone new from Orderrealm, or at least give him a complete overhaul. But I think all the realms should be incorporated into the story again.

12 or 14 new characters seems like a bit much, I wouldn't mind it, but it just seems like a lot. I'd be happier with like 8, making more room for some older characters that haven't had a chance to be fleshed out.
