From the Ed Boon Giantbomb interview, I'd say Sonya, and or Johnny Cage.

Reptile also has a possible chance of returning, along with Quan Chi and of course Raiden. I don't think too many more will, however.

Possibly, but its not the first time the devs had said those that died in MK9 aren't necessarily gone for good. They mentioned it in a few interviews after MK9's release.

Sub-Zero (Kuai Liang) became a cyborg and then died, and he's (probably) back as a human, BUT his soul was taken by Quan Chi and was resurrected, along with Kung Lao, Smoke, Jax, Kitana, Nightwolf, Jade, Kabal, Sindel and Stryker at the end of MK9.
And there's no chance that MK X's SZ is Bi-Han because he became Noob Saibot and was killed by Nightwolf.

- Raiden, Mileena, Sektor, Quan Chi, Reptile, Kenshi, Skarlet, Rain, Smoke, Scorpion and Sub Zero.

I can tell you guys now that Sonya & Johnny will probably not be playable, Cassie is a mixture of them why waste Kharacters slots for 2 characters that we already own in one already?
More room for lets say Tremor or maybe Kenshi or another fan favorite etc etc

I don't think we will see Jade, but it would be cool to see if there was something to her Arcade Ladder ending, with that woman in her dream who possessed her... I'd like to know what that was all about.

If I'm not wrong, the voice who says "Fight!" and "Finish Him!" is still Shao Kahn. Also Ed Boon said that the boss will be a surprise character, someone we can't guess. Everybody thinks he's dead and can't come back, now.
We'll fight an elder god Shao Kahn in MKX.

That's the people who I think will return from MK9. Basing this theory off there being 24 character (i think they'll be more, but we'll just roll with it for a while) I think it will be 12 pre-existing MK characters and 12 brand new characters. I think the 12 returning will be split into seven MK9 characters, five MK4-MKD characters. That list, imo, goes like this;

Tanya
Reiko
Fujin
Havik

The rest will be new characters. If this was the roster list, I would be more than happy!
