Now people are making petitions to exclude characters from DLC? I've literally seen it all.

She's a fiercely underrepresented character who could have had a bigger role if she was developed properly. As it so happens she was part of the MK4 vortex of tremendously underdeveloped characters. They tried in Deception but...eh. Deception was basically like "Hey! Remember these one-game wonders?! Here they are again!" and Tanya was part of that. I don't even remember the point of her involvement...wasn't she a Dragon King lackey that turned on him and killed him when she was pretending to help the resistance fighters? Basically the "She's good...oh no she's not she's a double agent!" story from MK4.

Tanya and Reiko were both last-minute, rushjob replacements for Kitana and Noob Saibot in MK4 which is why both of those characters became red herrings for the MK series. As much as I hated Armageddon, it did one thing right - turned Reiko into a duplicitous strategist and gave him a real purpose. I've been a big fan of Reiko ever since, and I'm seriously hoping we see him in the game, and that he's not just fodder in the comic.

For some reason, there was something about Tanya, people wanted more. I never understood it myself, but she's far more of a legit character than tremor who deserves a shot...though, as DLC, she's probably completely irrelevant to the MKX story, or has only a bit part in it. Maybe she'll make it into the next game as a main (sort of like how Kenshi went from DLC in MK9 to main roster in MKX).

Not exactly. She became the ambassador of the deadly alliance and when they died the dragon King forced her to serve him. She didn't want to die so she did it. Her job was to find the way to combine the kamidogu by reading ancient text. She is pretty much a sorceress who likes to know more about magic. That is how she became a part of the brother hood of shadow. Shinnok got her into the dark arts. That is probably why her eyes changed after mk 4. Also she came out being nothing like kitana in the end. In mk u thought she was a total good guy before u got her end which was really cool. Also in mk 4 she helped shinnok take her home realm so he could have more power to take the others. People don't like her cus they don't know anything about her and they don't try to. Oh and also some people just think she is crazy. She also killed the dragon King cus no one forces tanya to do something. No one.
