If You put an MK spin on a Capoeira fighter, give him the jumping rising fireballs again or a more unique way of throwing them out like chucking them at you like baseballs.

Y'know how Liu Kang's motif is basically Dragon? Well How bout Kai's motif being Tiger?

And the setting seems like a modified telling of MK4 which is a great time to bring him in...along with Tanya and hopefully Fujin in the future. With Reiko and Jarek being in the comic.

Story cameo likely. Same boat as Bo Rai Cho, "Li Mei", Fujin, and the revenants who do not get a 2nd chance at life.

MK4 Kai - an African spiritual warrior with body marks and paint would've been great over Takeda. They could give him a spear so a weapon variation with all kinds of combos, some type of spiritual variation where his eyes are white and he uses magic powder and a last variation which is focused on a African mixed martial arts style (with a stick, like they use in Zulu culture).

MK Armageddon - hell no, that was Darrius with cornrows and far from the original concept and back story of Kai.

I always laugh when I think about Kai because my friend hates him so much.

We'll probably see him either used as cannon fodder in the story mode of in the comic. Or not at all.

I would've loved Kai for a return. A more prominent representative of my ethnicity. Especially If he used Raiden's lightning staff as a variation. Sadly, him having Raiden's staff was his only relevancy.

I would'nt mind seeing Kai over some of the other heroes, but the problem is NRS likely looks at him as a dud. They probably felt it was safer to have a clean slate of new heroes rather than revamping Kai. Of course this has kind of backfired already because of the inexplicable decision to make them all descendants of existing heroes.

God, Sindel stans can be just as uptight as Fujin stans. So no one else can levitate/fly other than her, even if it fits said character like an old shoe?

Anyway, I agree that Kai > Jax. But NRS already has their token black guy, so let's just chuck the others into the refuse pile (Kai and Darrius).
Then again, they really coasted with this roster by scraping up a bunch of newbies and making them either Special Forces or relatives, rather than put forth the effort to actually fix up those who desperately need fixing up. Like...Kai.

The point of this game was NEVER to revitalize existing characters from previous games, the goal was here was to usher in the next generation of fighters, which is exactly what they have delivered.

Fuck Kai. He'll get a cameo, and the story will progress just fine without him.

Well now we have New Kai only without the capoeira moveset and a shitty bow.

Was it... Really? Who said the point was just to revitalize existing characters. I think the point was to breathe new life into MK as a whole. They COULD have done that with members of the MK4 cast, while included some newbz.

I guess my point is that, sadly, every game has some filler characters that end up being not used or just miss.

In MK it happened to Stryker, to Jarek, to Kai, to Drahmin, to Mavado and Dairou to name a few...

When Armaggeddon came along, way to many bland character wre in the MK universe, Boon said how many time " next game w are gonne clean the slate and start anew!".
They kinda did, but with the same story line, same charater... some got a new developpment.

Now the story continue and It looks like some ne characters will get the same "bland" treatement.

Kun Jin is pretty different. The archer thing is great... Takeda however, what I feel he has for him is... a mentor that people think is so badass. Will that make Takeda badass?

I guess I would like btter to develop what they have instead of filling the MK with has-been before their prime.

For the moves and abilities that are given to other... Quan Chi is a sorcerer. MK had a sorcerer, Shang Tsung. But both of them play so differently. When they give Kenshi telekenesis power or Sindel's flight to Ermac, Freezing power to Frost, laser eye to Jarek or even the whole "sparkle dazzle" and whole look of Raiden (hat included) to Ashrah, it kind of dilude the originality.

That's all.
I still think the games look great and will be awesome. Probably the best of the serie.

Kenshi is the Kai of the new story line.

It was clear by watching the whole Chapter 1 of story mode. He is the spiritual guide of the group and while being asian, Kenshi is also westernized.

(the elevator one liner with Cage was a good example of this).

I liked Kai but I think his train was mk Deadly alliance and that train was long time missed.

But to your own point... A lot of ppl think that KungJin and the rest of the Teen Titans are THIS game's "filler/miss" characters that won't matter in the future.

Obviously I never played the game yet, but IMO, Kai > KungJin

Kai was a decent character. It was a mistake not to include his handstand stance in MKA, and the Gurkha knife was a more suitable weapon for him. If he returned, he's need his leather jacket as an alt again. I liked that one.

I'm a little bummed that he likely won't make the cut as a playable character, so I hope he gets at least a cameo.

That's pretty accurate

There is some speculation indicating that "Fox" was Kai. Fox obviously wasn't his name so much as it was his codename. I doubt this was the case especially given the timeline, since Kai was an adult during the netherrealm war.
