I love the marketing for this game, as well as Injustice and MK9.
That's probably because I have a 40 hour job, I'm a full-time student, committed to 8 hours of table-top games on Sundays, follow other game franchises(Halo, Smash, Arkham etc.), and have a girlfriend.
So quite frankly, I don't want non-stop info to have to keep up-to-date on/discuss, and I'm one of those that still like an element of mystery and freshness with my games leading up to release. I don't want everything exposed, weeks-months before the game comes out, especially not this far out, just so I have "something to keep my interest". It's Mortal Kombat. I've played it since childhood, and have actively come here since 2001. I'm going to buy the game day 1 regardless of what they show/don't show me, and how often/not often they show it.
Patience.

I'm in the same boat.
This isn't poor marketing. You're already sold on the game. The marketing and PR teams succeeded in their mission. This is pure marketing strategy and hype building. Progressive detailing is often a great strategy for companies who have such a successful product, because it gets to a point that people will flock to the check out counter no matter how much they know, and refuse to accept.
Que Rockstar games.
Que Rockstar games.

I never said it wasn't, but they do care about the tournament community, don't forget Raiden was revealed at evo. So again, to the casuals it would be the same, for the tournament community it would be better, so why not do it?

Because, when majority of the users do not care about this, then why bother?
For the highlevel gameplay there are Twitch and other outlets. For the rest of the audience - presentation, good effects and interesting abilities are the utmost importance, not some OTGs, wake-up games e.t.c.

Because it costs you nothing to do so and you get the appeal of a broader audience. I didn't say the have to highlight wakeups or OTGs, but it would be nice to see someone BLOCK for once. As I said before, it looks my granny is playing.
