I also wish they would've just stoppped at Cassie and Takeda. KungJin looks Kool, but he definitely could've just been his own character (and yes, a different name, LoL).

I do like the idea of Kano's bastard daughter. If we ever get the green light for expanding the MortaL Kombat comix, they should do something like that. I could see it being quite humorous.

Also, unrelated, but its gonna be weird as fuck to play Jax or Johnny and perform a fatality on their own daughters. I know this has been going on in other MK games with Kitana and Sindel, but in that scenario Sindel is at least evil and more of an enemy to Kitana. Even Cassie performing a nut punch on her dad, Or Johnny nut punching her is gonna be mad awkward.

I'm not going to lie the whole off spring brigade does seem like something you'd read from a fan fiction made up by a 16 year old. Especially with the names.

That doesn't mean that it's bad, however, if it's executed properly without any more actions that would come off as fan fiction worthy.

Most ideas in video game sequel stories are fanfiction-esque ideas that are executed either badly or very well. The next-gen special forces is executed pretty well so far for the concept.

Maybe there's a badass twist near the end where Takeda contributes to Quan Chi's downfall instead of Scorpion. That would be potential character development.

Lol Cassie is a name I just can't take seriously at all. i'd wager a 16 year old can do better- most of this seems like the work of one of the developers 9 year old daughter getting too close to the development lmao.

I like all of the new characters thus far. I like Kung Jin, I like the name and I don't understand people's weird consternation that this particular relative of Kung Lao's has not been mentioned before. Get over it.

The names is another thing bothering me, we understand that the characters are family, so naming them Kung Jin, Jacqui & Cassie when you already have Kung Lao, Jax & Johhny / Sonya (rhymes) is just lazy. At least Takeda is completely different.
