Kitana is a revenant at the end of MK9 but will be resurrected with a few key others towards the opening of the story. I think that's pretty obvious.

So why is an ADULT Cassie Cage fighting a zombie Kitana in the trailer?
because she hasn't been freed yet?

Maybe Kitana isn't freed towards the beginning of the story then? It's hard to tell how they're going to handle the time spans. Regardless, that's Revenant Kitana whose going to get freed as the story progresses. There's no way she stays a wraith for the entire game.

-Quan Chi is a troll
-Kitana, Jade, and Sindel are Edenians.

Add it up and you get the sorcerer trolling us by returning those from Earthrealm and not these three. Smoke is technically a demon, the cops aren't popular enough, and Nightwolf sacrificed himself so they're probably out. We've yet to see Kuai Liang's possible return to being human.

As much as she's my favorite MK female, Kitana's including feels like trolling to me when Tanya fill her role especially with Mournful actually suiting her more as Jade's #1 hater regardless of the timeline. If Kitana is serving Quan for some time, doesn't that also make Sareena redundant in the roster? I'd rather Jacqui was born before 2011's MK3 events and see Kung Lao sit this out too but there's probably a good reason for this.

Would be cool to have an alternate skin, but for the rest, stop whining.

So many possibilities.

Maybe Sindel and Kitana somehow end up using Edenias Kamidogu and are corrupted later in the storyline.

Or they could be some sort of evil clones/dopplegangers conjured up by Quan Chi and they gave Kitana a new look to differentiate from the real Kitana.

Perhaps Cassie/Jin are at some point absorbed into the amulet (like in the scene when Raiden entraps Shinnok) and they have to escape but Shinnok has some warped reality in there.

I really just hope it has nothing to do with time travel sending Cassie/Jin into the past.

I'm intrigued to find put what's going on.

I forgot about Shinnok being able to conjure doppelgangers like he did in Armageddon.
