The Tarkatan involement in mkx seems big...so why is it......

OK....I'm noticing that the tarkatans are getting a lot of face time in this game...More focus on them then ever...which will lead me to a big question....

So we have seen them on the portal stage,running into eathrealm and being mowed down.... they make up mileenas rebel army, they are seen numerous times in storymode from what the trailers have shown....Now errons black inclusion puts more emphasis on them...His weapon is a Tarkatan warrior arm and blade....Now....with all this....Here is my question...

Why in FUCK would NRS make baraka nothing but a cameo? With the possibilties that could be achieved from his inclusion, especially in contrast to the tarkatan involvement in mkx?

More so, why exclude him so we can have shitty liu kang with worthless variations?

I already used this image on the Liu Kang thread, but as this topic is specifically about Baraka:

Baraka couldn't even manage to be the coolest character on his own freaking MK9 ending!

If we're getting another tarkata, I'd take any other design from his ending than "I'm just a regular tarkata, cannon fodder with nothing more to offer than these other thousands members of my race" Baraka:

Really, he is literally the only one from that squad that doesn't look interesting. The others steal the show from him, pick anyone and he will be a better character. (I don't know how to scale images, but you can open it on a different tab for the full tarkata squad).

Well the answer is right there in your story...there's a lot of them and they are already involved in the story, just like the foot soldiers of Mileena. NRS thus doesn't see the potential in Baraka and passes him off as just another lackey, which they have done in most games anyway. The post above shows you how a lot of fans perceive him, it's really a shame. Baraka has been teased a lot lately and that is the main reason I'm pissed. This game misses a monster like him badly.

I think a better, less angry question is if Baraka will live through story mode. We've already seen him get speared off a building by D'vorah in the trailer teaser and Erron Black may or may not be using his goddamn arm blade as a sword. This in combination with Baraka most likely NOT being playable on top of his whole relationship with Mileena and leading the Dragon King's army story arcs being seemingly retconned.

So to answer your question more directly, perhaps Baraka is not a heavily featured NPC because he is killed off.

This could be a good thing tho considering what NRS does with their "dead" characters.

actually, i thought, based on the bullshit NRS spouted, about killing the roster to make way for new blood....baraka would be a lock....I had thought that the dead would remain dead...we would have mk4 onward an new new new....

this roster is fucking horrid, i knew it would be an mk9 rehash...

that would be nice...im still in denial hoping, not for an extra row..but at least 4 slots above....at least goro going away to the dlc spot and the question mark going away

I hate to ruin this for you but the 4 slots are going to Jax, Jacqui, Kenshi and Sonya. The question mark is probably going to the unlockable from story mode which is probably gonna be the boss we know nothing about. It could be the blood demon, Reiko, Havik. I don't think Baraka would take that spot because it would make no sense whatsoever. They would either add him to the original roster or have him as DLC if he were to make it. It's not looking good for him right now.

Saw this coming... Although I don't have an answer as to the why... I do know the game comes out in like 2 weeks and the story and game are probably fully completed. Which means it doesn't matter why someone isn't in the game, there just not, and their not going to be... And having an unlockable or DLC of Baraka... That would be whack! So it's over, move on

Don't buy the game CISIS... The roster is horrid so there is no reason at all for you to own it, play it or enjoy it! Problem solved.. Try Dead or alive.. They have a free version on PSN!

Now on to more pressing news... I LOVE the roster and the game and think it's gonna be the best MK game ever! Yayyy

The same can now be said about Goro and the Shokan rebelling in the comic. Look at all those neat spins on the shokan and realize we're only getting shitty generic Goro.

As for Baraka in MKX it looks to be the way it should: Every other Tarkatan looks boring and generic whereas Baraka stands out Among the others
EDIT: Oh and Kittelsen confirmed thats not Baraka's arm Erron has so kiss off to that theory

I won't lie.

Baraka was one of the main characters I was excited to see after I first saw the fatalities of this game. His MK2 Impale fatality has always been a favorite, and the majority of them since have not disappointed.

But what can ya do? Hope for DLC at this point, and that's about it.

Also, speaking of MK races, where the fuck are the Centaurs? Were they just completely eradicated once Goro obtained that position of prestige by Mileena's side?

I just don't understand how Baraka won't be a playable character in this game. We have already seen him a few times in story mode, he is the only MKII player besides Shang Tsung not playable. I understand Shang not being in because of Quan Chi and Shinnok but Baraka is so different from all the other characters and he is a real popular character.

Worse yet you're shafting the characters that were alive and well in MK9 just to go out of your way to bring the dead characters back In the base roster. Why couldn't they be NPCs saved for later? We used to speculate on who the heroes would be after Sindel killed most of them and now there's simply TOO MUCH heroes and not enough villains. The Revenants when freed will go back to being heroes, The Kotal forces aren't portrayed as out and out villains and haven't been for awhile.

Where's Rain, Skarlet, Baraka, Noob Saibot, Sektor (and Cyrax), Why no playable Demon Smoke?

At least there's Tanya....as DLC what the fuck?
