Am i reading this right, midway declaring bankruptcy... Does this mean what i think it does, that there will be no more MK games, unless another company buys the franchise?

Not neccesary true .Midway files chapter 11 which was filled by Marvel years ago .

This chapter provides (if the court approved) protection to the complany and allow it to take its time to repay the debts .

Seeing that Midway has some projects in development eg; MK9,A new MK adventure ,TNA2, this is Vigas and Wheelman also, seeing their success with MKvsDCU I think that it has a very high chance to get the approval .

Also, if Midway went under then I think that a new CO will most likely buy MK IP along with the team given that they are already working on a new version of MK and their records of past games .

You know what ?
What killing me is the wating to see what happens furious

Wish MK team best luck .

Suddenly, my mind goes to Kai's ending from Armageddon.

"He looked back and saw all that had ever been within all the realms. But when he tried to look forward, he saw... nothing."

Could it be? Kai is the prophet? He predicted Chapter 11?

Hard to call bra. But I will say things don't look good. Companies can go any which way at any time.

I got an ich though, that tells me that if or when they do release another MK game, it'll be beautiful.

Not so much as they will "put all their eggs in one basket" so to speak, but damn near. Not to mention finally giving the MkTeam that pure, controversial, and creative control over the game that we have been waiting to see for about 4 years now.

Just an ich though.

Midway is filing for Chapter 11, which means they can continue to run their business without being forced to sell of anything to pay their debts.

That does not mean however that they won't drop or sell off alot of franchises that are no longer making them money.

Mortal Kombat is their biggest franchise so it is safe, especially with the success of MK vs DC ............ but there lies the problem.

MK vs DC was rated T for Teen, and also featured Batman which had the biggest summer movie last year, which had alot to do with its success, alot more than the MK name ...... so Midway is going to want to continue on with a MK vs DC franchise, not the old M rated franchise. They need to do what is going to make them the most money, and a T rated game with Batman and Superman in it, is going to make them money.

Look for MK vs DC 2 in the fall of 2010 ........
