Alright Let's say they actually implement back to block...

What is the next desire? having six button controls with 3 varying upon strengths of punches/kicks?

Let's not stop there! Do you also want their attack properties to vary upon which button is pressed via faster projectiles? and stronger hits?

Also. Would you like it if you have to crouch to sweep?

Would you're desires be fulfilled if all attacks, including MK's iconic uppercut, hits the opponent, however they still stand on their feet? Oh yeah! so you can cancel it into a special move! silly me...

Would you also be in favor of having the characters shout out their attacks?

Would you sleep better at night knowing that your favorite MK character can speak in a language, that is favored by the entire hardcore fighting game community, known as japanese? or their native tongue like every other autistic person on the gamefaqs message board want's to have applied towards every friggin game on the market.

& finally, would you like for the blood to be removed, having no finishers at all?

this is applied towards those who want every fighting game to be like street fighter so they can complain about it later.

Preach.

MK9 had PERFECT gameplay, IMO. It fit so well with the Mortal Kombat feel, they should just expand on it a bit, and for fucks sake keep the block button. I'm surprised we're still having this conversation. I want MK to distance itself from Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom, all of it. Mortal Kombat is its own game and it does it best. If the block button is removed, and eventually the rest of the controls become as you've mentioned, It would be a disaster.

Sarcasm and all, this is actually not a bad idea lmao. Who cares about fatalities the next day after release?

Are you joking? I love fatalities, to this day I'll go to the fatality trainer in MK9 just to enjoy how awesome they are.

I had some trouble with the quotes, but my points should all follow in order.

The problem with that type of dash cancelling is that you're still stuck in block animation the moment there's a projectile in range. Even beyond projectiles, games that utilize back-to-block have designated ranges which will make characters go into a block state once the opponent's attacks are active. Only dash-blocking gives you full control of both your mobility and defense. That goes a long way in a zoning match.

As for the stuffing cross-ups with D+jab, that only works because cross-ups operate on a set arc in MK. To get the ambiguous cross-ups people are asking for, you have to remove that feature. Otherwise, my down jab isn't going to do shit if your air medium kick isn't landing on my hitbox properly. Hence why it doesn't work in Injustice (anti-airing in general isn't that great in Injustice).

As for why MK9 had those features, my best guess was rushed patches and insufficient communication between developers. It's possible they were due to incompetence, but if that's the case, why is Injustice such a well-made game?

The proximity blocking, I get how it works, but if I remember correctly, no fighting game has incorporated full on block animation cancel on dash. On paper it would work like dash blocking, since you're in dashing animation you wouldn't block until you get hit by the attack, it would effectively make every dash safe, but that's how it works in MK9.

Yeah I get the thing about MK9's cross up arc, but I remember that in SFxT they incorporated air crushing attacks, like an aerial hitbox invincibility, it helped a lot of those characters who lacked a proper anti air. Anti airing was really lacking in Injustice, that's true.

Injustice ended up being good but it needed several patches for that. Remember at the beginning the Superman and Black Adam army? I still think that without the DLC characters and interactibles that game would be better. However, Injustice showed that NRS is learning from their mistakes, so there's that.

I never got the back-block system. People can block punches without having to retreat...
