LOL you are thinking that horrible cartoon series MK: Defenders of the Realm is canon which it isn't, since in one episode Sonya was starting to have romantic feelings for Jax and even got jealous when that Jade rip off character, "Ruby" started showing Jax affection when he visited his hometown. As far as I know even in the old timeline games and the MK movies, it showed that things were heating up between Sonya and Johnny not Sonya and Jax
