Hard to believe it's been 9 months since the game was first announced at E3 last June, and now we're just one month away from getting the tenth incarnation of Mortal Kombat.

Much like Christmas, I feel like the wait and "journey" is half the fun every time an MK game is announced. From the announcement and first trailer, to the character announcements, to the fatality debuts, and so-on. Even as far back as when MKII was first announced for arcades, I would get so excited when a new magazine would come out discussing newly discovered elements.

As others have said, the "high speed internet age" has spoiled us a bit, making us all want news right away... and then when we *do* get news, we want more right away :-p And then we bicker about what we like, what we don't like, what we get, and what we don't get wink

All of this being said, who's sticking around here until the game comes out and who's going to take a break from MKO? I'll admit, I've been addicted to coming here everyday and reading up on news/rumors. However, as we get closer, I get paranoid about major leaks exploding out, much like the last MK. I'm on the fence about which way I'm headed, but I may try to sneak away from MKO until I have my hands on MKX, and then come back a week later. But then again, I may weaken and rush back here within a week if I do try to leave wink

I intend to stick around at least until the game goes gold. After that, the game will inevitably leak, and spoilers will rain down upon this forum. Hopefully people around here can respect those that don't want to be spoiled, but I highly doubt it.

I'll definately come here when the games out, and after, but I plan to stay away from story spoilers. It's really hard to believe the game comes out in a month. I remember sitting on my bed when Boon simply tweeted;

"The name of the game is Mortal Kombat X"

And then said nothing for about 10 minutes. I thought that was the actual announcement and was so pissed off until he posted the Who's Next trailer grin

Despite all the arguments, different opinions about somethings, the users we've lost and the general bullshit, I've quite enjoyed the build up for this game. I do plan to stick around after MKX comes out next month but I just hope this place doesn't become a goddamn ghost town again.

Good call, and isn't it usually around the "month to go" mark when it goes gold? I figured sometime this coming week we'd hear something about that. And yeah, there could very well be new users suddenly registering to run in here and spoil things in the headers sad

Yeah, it does get quite quiet around here between MK games. However, hopefully the ongoing Faction Wars and constantly changing towers will keep people coming back here. If I do head out, I'll probably come back after I finish story mode... of course, there's the risk of seeing arcade ending spoilers (and even brutality spoilers), but I'm now as worried about that tongue

I'll stick around probably until all the DLC is released and then I'll disappear for the next four years, possibly returning to only post once or twice a year. It's my pattern.

My guess is there may be some rumblings again when the next Injustice comes out... but let's be realistic, this is first and foremost an MK site.

Yes indeed. I read somewhere on twitter that the game had been turned in for approval, so an announcement can't be far off.

I will only leave if I get banned. I plan on staying here until the launch, when we get there I will take the day off, finish the arcade ladder with Sonya then go to the Story Mode, after I'm done with it, I will make a topic talking about what I throught. (I will warn about spoilers of course). Then i will do a few challenges, finish arcade with others and only then I will go online.

I thought the same thing.

The Environments
The Music
The characters
The story mode.

All of these are things I don't want to know before I get the game and might hold off on coming to MKO, as hard as that would be, bc its always exciting to watch the streams and the reveals, but I feel like I already know too much...even if it was just 4 minues of story, lol.

I'll probably occupy my time doing other things to get my mind off it and check back at MKO after the release.

Yeah I wasn't here during the Injustice hype so I doubt I'll be for the next DC outing.

I'm obligated with the Netherkast, if it keeps going.

In years past however, I stick around 'til the game comes out, maybe a couple weeks after just out of habit and seeing everyone's thoughts, but eventually I start phasing out how often I look at the actual forum. Then I just occasionally check it, since the main site is my home page I'll usually click on the forum section, look at the top few thread titles, then carry on elsewhere. That'll carry on 'til a few weeks before the next game is announced(the following year's e3).

I think I may go on hiatus about two weeks from release.

I remember checking twitter after class and watching the trailer, and freaking out silently inside lol

Does anybody else think that NRS making another Injustice game is a waste of time?

Sure injustice was fun and all. But seriously. Wouldn't all of us prefer another MK game or maybe an ultimate MKX? Since there are a lot of people complaining about the roster. I wish NRS would do something similar to Street fighter and keep adding characters to MKX.

Or here is a better idea, a brand new fighting game. I really don't want to go back to superheros. They are sooooooo boring.

Honestly superheros are the most boring characters ever. No depth to them. All they do is save shit and if they are not saving shit they are turning evil for shock value.

Come the fuck on, I want to see the team create a whole different game with an awesome story, if not. Give me another MK game. But let's be realistic Injustice 2 is coming and then after that we will finally have our next MK Game.

It sucks to know that. But it is what it is.

I'll stay until release then come back once i beat story mode

then try to speculate future things to come for a few weeks.

I'll still come on to talk about the comics every 2 weeks since most of the comic character wont be in the game, especially when they start focusing on the non main mkx story and shows what other people are up to

and ill be on here looking for some online tournies and what not

Ever since the days before MKvsDC i always did the exact same thing before each MK game is released. I usually stay on MKOnline religiously to discover all the characters/level reveals. Then when the game finally comes to stores I leave MKOnline for quite some time. Sure i'll come back every so often to see whats going on, but no where near to the extent as before when the game was being developed. Im one of those guys that stays when info is being released then leaves when there's nothing to look forward to. I've been doing this before the release of MKvsDC. I'll be back when i hear Netherrealm studios is creating MK11.

I've made a habit out of this site. Ill probably disappear the night before and day of MKX's release to avoid any spoilers. Then ill beat story mode and arcade ladder with every character and occasionally come back to discuss those things, and to keep an eye out for DLC release dates, patches, and other miscellaneous info regarding the game .

I agree with everything you said here, except for the Street Fighter DLC approach (Street Fighter is actually quite hated for releasing characters for one game over a few years under a new 'edition'). I've already promised myself to not buy Injustice 2. I've moved over to Marvel now and DC just does nothing for me anymore. I would rather we had a new IP instead and replace it with Injustice. Seeing as we have Horror characters as DLC Guest Characters, I'd like NRS to do a horror icons fighting game. Have Jason, Freddy, Michael Myers, Pinhead ect. in an MK style fighting game would be fucking amazing and I think it would sell A LOT more than Injustice ever will. This'll probably never happen so it looks like the next three years are going to be wasted on Injustice. sad

OMG! Shaolin monks 2: Fire and Ice. Would be great! I would take that game over any game. Just imagine how amazing it'll look with this gen's graphics and game mechanics. I could already imagine an awesome Shadow of Mordor cross Shaolin Monks 1 type system for fighting. Or something similar to Batman arkham system, only more brutal.

Point is, it'll look freaking amazing.

Never thought about a horror icons fighting game, but now that I actually thought about it. It's an awesome Idea and it'll look great, especially because NRS would be handling it and they are super awesome when it comes to fun fighting games.

If they are going to not do MK next then this would be fucking awesome and a lot of fun to see happen. Also the point you make about it selling well is great. Let's just hope NRS realize that. Freddy was the highest selling DLC. and if the two guest characters in MKX are the highest. Then I think they might consider it :D.

As for what you said about Street fighter, Yeah I understand. But maybe they should do it and add a few more chapters of a specific story for one character. Maybe an origin story or secret story. Or they can add something that'll make it worth buying and plus about 10-12 characters.

I dunno MKX looks awesome and so far everybody who appeared in it looks GREAT. It would be a shame to see characters like Kabal,Baraka,Smoke,Tanya,Fujin or even Bo, Miss this game :(.

And we don't even have Cyborgs yet, although I am hoping we will get a cyborg DLC pack with Sektor and Cyrax together.

To sum it up. I like your idea for a horror characters fighting game, I originally wanted a totally new fighting game with original characters and story. but your idea is actually a lot of fun. I hope it happens :).

A NRS produced Horror icon fighting game would be amazing, but the true horror would lie in the damn licensing for such a game to happen lol trust me I would literally toss money at NRS to have that game, but getting the rights to use all of those characters in one game would probably be tedious and expensive as hell.

As for Injustice, I loved the first one and I will certainly purchase another one if they make it, but I agree that I would much prefer NRS work on another MK game instead, be it a new adventure/beat em up or another main series entry (MK11).

"injustice was fun" Never said it wasn't fun and that I didn't enjoy it. But if I was given the choice, I would have took another MK over Injustice.

Don't get me wrong, Injustice was a cool game. But I fear it's not because who was in it, It's because the fighting system was a lot of fun.

Because for me at least, The heros in Injustice had no real depth to them and they weren't interesting what so ever. But I don't think it's the writers fault, heros are automatically boring and unless you see them in some DBZ fight scene they never really get interesting.

In Movies/Animation they shine, but in a video game like MK they are just boring. I played injustice and loved it. But I honestly would rather have a new fighting game or MK Game.

If you are looking forward to Injustice 2, I'm happy for you and hopefully you'll get to play it someday. But I'm just saying, I'd pick MK over Injustice any day of the week. I still play MK9 but I no longer play Injustice and it doesn't seem that it's only me.

If you go online, Injustice has 12 people online and that's the max.

MK9 has always at least over 100 people online and this is a 4 year old game. Just goes to show. MK characters > Superheros.

No more fucking Injustice. I played it for a week, and went back to MK9. Couldn't get into that shit.

NRS needs to expand MK - make it more than just a fighting game. Shaolin Monks 2, Special Forces game, anything but Injustice please.
