I hate RAP and I hate METAL even more. I hope they use 90ties dance again next.

I freaking hate it how Americans always put Metal underneath youtube video's... Every freaking game-playthrough has metal on it, every freaking video creation has metal with it, even fucking smurfs and little pony video's have metal on it, and even pokemon video's are made even worse with that annoying music.

For this i'm happy i'm European, there is far less metal here.

I see Metal as the music for the true-male, males who are afraid that if they don't like metal, or put metal underneath their youtube creation, they are called gay. And of course there is nothing worse than be called a gay... (and yes i'm being sarcastic, because i'm gay myself)

And there it is....looking for their first opportunity to announce that they're gay. Lol what an attention whore. Nobody gives a fuck, pal.

And I promise you...nobody gives a cunt's whisker about your shitty musical tastes either. Metal>>>>>your existence.

...he already mentioned that he's gay awhile back, actually...in a long buried thread...so yeah, not really the coming out party you're implying.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, like other folks have pointed out we're getting Dan for the musical score so this is really all moot. There likely won't be any metal OR hip-hop in MKX. Probably more along the lines of what MK9 gave us.

Too bad, but not deal-breaking for me. I'll enjoy MKX all the same. tongue

It was probably just as fucking annoying back when he really announced it too.

As though anybody gives a fuck. Did he want a dick shaped medal or something? I don't fucking get these people.

Wtf is this?

Someone might've taken a minute to stop being crazy and mention the trailer soundtrack. Unless this isn't all just a joke.

Get back on topic.

There are times where I am ashamed to be called a metal head. This is one of those times.

Aside from the trailer, I see no connections to hip hop influences in MKX. Not that I didn't mind the song. I thought it was actually pretty good, and I don't listen to Kalifa. It would be interesting though to spice up the tunes with some little funky beats though for a stage or two.

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
Someone mentioned SF3's soundtrack too and I'll say that I dug it. Some sweet music came from that game, especially the SF3TS remixed theme. Something like that. Too many SF's lol

Well, don't stop with the trailer, put some rap in the game. Like for instance make Jax's friendship battle rap the opponent :D

Kai, can make some break-dance or battle break.
Cyrax can make some beat box.
Darrius can make graffiti :D
Noob can make some Turntabling.

You can come up with more ideas on that. I'm not really serious so you shouldn't be too. Just go with flow yo!

Unless you want Bill Cosby to go Ghost Dad on you, I don't think this would work.

It's still Forden doing the score, you'll get bland orchestral music with occasional creepy horror stings and like it.

It's really weird that it's him doing the music since the music is very different in the NetherRealm era. It all comes off as underwhelming while the music from some of the other games has more of an innovative and exciting feel. To be fair, from hearing a bit of music from MKX, it does sound better than what we got in MK 2011. Then again, it's too early to say for sure until the game comes out.

Like curing a stab wound with a gunshot.

Anywho, back to the topic at hand. I really hate when thematic games have music that doesn't fit the theme of the game. Rap music just doesn't make sense for a game set in other realms and that is (kind of) rooted in East Asian folklore. It makes about as much sense for Rap to be in Mortal Kombat as it did for rap to be in that abomination they dared to call "The Great Gatsby." Like I said earlier, put it in the trailers, put in the commercials, hell make a music video and put it as an extra feature in the game, just don't make it the soundtrack to the game.

Its not too far-fetched to have some form of hip hop in MK. I mean MK3's The Street theme was kinda hip-hop ish.

Remember this guys? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iRgQoOEmzwBB

The more restricted you are in what you can do, the more creative you have to be. And chiptunes have clearer, sharper sounds than the soft, all-blends-together sound a room full of horns and strings will produce.

Take away Forden's access to a real orchestra and force him to make MIDIs and I bet the result would be as strongly defined and memorable as it was in MK1 thru 3.

In all honesty, the series stopped being rooted in Asian folklore by MKII.

I remember when Disturbed played in the MK9 trailer. Fans will NEVER agree on the music NRS uses for MK.

It's the principle. The series became a phenomenon on its own just fine without NRS resorting to whoring it out to third-party properties like musicians or DC crossovers or idiotic character inclusions like Kratos and Freddy Krueger.

Metal is bad for your brains, but hip hop cures your ears? Hahahahaha!! Yo yo bitch, dawg, I'm a gangsta, I'll kill that mofo, and on and on. You don't have to like metal, but don't imply that it's bad for you to listen to, but hip hop is good for your ears. It makes you sound foolish.wink

I can't quite agree, because I felt MK: Deception's music had a fair bit of creativity as the composers were able to draw from various sources. The track that was intended for the Golden Desert used traditional African drums. The track for the Mines and the Pit used Japanese taiko.

From what I've heard in MKX, the music does sound better so far. I just don't want the music to be drowned out like in the last two NRS games.
