Also starting to think Fujin isn't going to back him up for much longer either.

This ought to be a separate game on its own. The Red Dragon would be the main villains instead of the Black Dragon or the same old Outworld/Netherealm minions.
I'm under the impression that that scene takes place pre Kitana becoming alive again. I'm actually going to be bummed if Kitana ends up just helping the heroes again for no reason. We've had the same Kitana for 20 years. Let's see dark Kitana for once.
I would like there to be some reference to Kitana being the rightful heir to Outworld. I also hope to see Jade in story mode. I don't think she's dead for good, she'll be back at some point in the future.

I think that part takes place towards the end of the game. At the very least Jax is revived before that since he has a daughter and was seen training her.I'm under the impression that that scene takes place pre Kitana becoming alive again.

There's also a possibility that Kitana was corrupted in that scene and not necessarily undead.

Haha that is actually a pretty good point. Very similar story where nobody really dies-dies and then total Deus Ex who keeps to live

If the temple scene is at the end of the story then perhaps she got corrupted again by the kamidogu.

I got the screen of the part where Erron is escorting the SF team through the courtyard to first meet Kotal Kahn while an execution is taking place, I zoomed in on the execution part and... the head looks like Kitana's, I noticed her hair bun, then I adjusted the resolution and saw what looke dlike her hair pins.

I'm probably wrong but I still think the revenant we saw was Jade. If they are anything like they were in MK9 they all share the same color scheme. The woman we saw with Sindel were both wearing purple so I think purple is just sort of the color scheme of the revenants.
I think this is the case because assuming all the revenants are resurrected at the same time, Kung Lao would've had to have been a father during MK9 if he, Kitana, and maybe Jax are not resurrected earlier in the game.
So I think it may just be an unplayable Sindel and Jade and this is where they may be killed off forever. That's my theory at least.

Oh come on, this is the same series where Raiden was playable in the same game he died in. Death itself is redundant in this series. I wouldn't put it past them to kill Kitana twice. I'd hope they wouldn't do that, but c'mon this is MK we're taking about.
Didn't Shawn Kittelsen say that Kitana was in the same place she was in after MK9 by the comics' events? So maybe that does mean she's still a revenant and that Cassie and co. will end up saving her (and possibly Sindel) just in time for maybe them to help with the Outworld Civil War (and maybe finally do something about Edenia). If I were to make a guess, maybe we'll actually end up seeing Jade dying and Kitana, after being revived, witnessing that and then taking up her weapons?

Had we not seen that quick glimpse of Sindel and possibly Kitana fighting Cassie and Kung Jin we wouldn't be so confused on Kitana's role in the story.
I honestly have no idea what is going on with Kitana in MKX. Her gameplay and design is phenomenal. I hope she's just as phenomenal in the story.
Is that purple assassin next to Sindel....Kitana? Maybe. Yes its one of her concept art designs. But at the same time its purple??? Last time I checked they did not select that design for Kitana, not even for her alternate. Could that outfit been assigned to Mileena or Jade? Maybe.
Would they kill off Kitana AGAIN after she gains her freedom from Quan Chi after the Netherrealm War? I sure hope not, but you never know.
So many questions. I kinda like not knowing what will happen to the Princess. I just hope that they portray her in a way that her character deserves to be portrayed. I also hope that we get to see some klassic Kitana vs Mileena in the story.

That's a great theory! Only issue I have with that is that Cassie and her gang will be in the final story arc of MKX. Therefore, Kitana would be freed towards the end of the story. Would that be enough time for Kitana to make things right? Then again, Jacqui and Takeda were missing. Also, remember that the Edenian ladies aren't from Earthrealm so some technicality makes them stay with Quan while Jax, Kuai-Liang, Kung Lao, and whoever else are initially freed.

I was just re-watching the kast where she was introduced and even though the idiots talked over the intro (perhaps on purpose???), when she fights Scorpion she says some interesting things:
Kitana - You strayed from Quan Chi's side?
Scorpion- ??? (talking loudly over it)
Kitana - And you are weaker as a result
It sounds like Kitana is still working for Quan Chi and she is chastising Scorpion for leaving.

If I recall correctly, Boon said that the majority of the story will take place 25 years in the future. We're just going to see past events, probably like the Netherrealm War, as flashbacks so the whole story mode playing won't be completely linear in terms of timeline. So we might be focusing on Cassie and co. for the majority of the game so I could see Kitana being saved in the middle of story mode perhaps.

You know I was just thinking about this and I think that you're right. Just because the story will have 3 arcs, it does not necessarily mean that the three different time periods will be divided equally by chapters. So Kitana might be freed halfway in the story which would definitely give her enough time to make things right and perhaps maybe even assist Kotal by personally bringing Mileena down since Kitana is good at that ;).

Kitana is probably restored early on after Shinnok/Quan Chi are beat. Not sure of Quan Chi is banished to the Netherrealm by Scorpion again but Jax, Kitana, Kung Lao, and Kui Liang are all probably freed and Jade, Sindel, Smoke, Stryker, Nightwolf, and Kabal are probably still under his control. Kitana and some other characters will probably make it a mission to rescue them from his control either near the middle or end ofthe story, and they'll probably be NPCs at the most if they aren't mentioned.
A couple might show up as DLC and the rest will probably be restored in MK11.

That was our original theory.
However, in the story trailer we can see Kitana along with Sindel fighting Cassie. Cassie didn't even exist after the Netherrealm war when Kitana and the other heroes are supposed to be freed.
So it seems like only a few heroes were freed after the Netherealm. Kitana will be freed later on.

That's definitely one of Kitana's costumes, but what if they ended up giving it to Mileena? The color of that outfit is definitely purple in the trailer. .
But Mileena does not wear purple since MKGold. Her new trademark colour is pink since Deception

I thought that scene would have Kitana get beat down and Sindel escapes, leaving Kitana to be purified and Sindel and the rest of the fallen warriors to be rescued later.
Kitana's mourning variation could wind up partially recycled for Jade or Sindel's glaive weapon in DLC.

Exactly! So I think depending on the point of the story.
Interesting enough her "under quan chi" speech is in the Assassin style, while Royal Storm and Mournful seem to be once she is free
Random thoughts.
Kitana uses her fans pretty often while fighting. They're her schtick, and she seems to keep pulling them out of thin air while fighting. I just find it a bit odd that the character fighting alongside Sindel didn't pull out a weapon at any time while attacking. Is it possible that the mysterious revenent isn't Kitana at all, but Jade?

While under the control of Quan Chi in MK9, her skin lost all color, and became an ashy grey color. Also, her costume lost most of its color, and had only a slight green tint. Maybe she fought without a weapon because a living Kitana had her staff?

S: " I am no longer bound by him."
K: " And you are weaker as a result."
I remember reading in the comic that only a fortunate few were "miraculously brought to life (by the constant whining of fans) to set things right after the defeat of Shinnok.
It makes me wonder Why certain characters were brought back and the rest were left to be tormented in Hell for eternity. Couldn't the Elder Gods send them to heaven or is their more to it or are the Gods just lazy?
It would make sense why Kitana wants Revenge. She wants to bring Jade and her mother's soul peace or bring her clan back to life. Sound familiar?
P.S Ed has been posting female scorpion pictures in the past on his Twitter. What if Kitana has become...oh no... P.S.S I don't know how the Kitana/ Mileena rivalry is gonna work. They only met like once in the story mode for MK9, they're past history is no more. They don't have any quarrels with each other. Mileenas rival seems to be Kotal. Kitana doesn't seem to care what's going with Outworld, nor does she want the throne Mk ileena so desperately wants back. So it'll be interesting how they reignite the Kitana/Mileena rivalry.
