So is Kitana restored during story mode?
I'm going to guess so since we see her fighting as a revenant while Cassie fights Sindel.

How else would she come back?

My guess is that she does get restored after the Netherrealm War... but gets killed and turned into a zombie once again to fight Cassie and Kung Jin.

It would also mean they went a full 25 years without beating Quan Chi and that somehow Sindel escaped permanent death unlike Jade.

I really think that Kitana and Sindel are corrupted by a kamidogu...

Was that a typo o did you mean Sindel, because she still looks dead in that trailer.

That would really suck for Kitana and her character development if she stayed as a recent for the entire game. I was expecting her to be more badass given the new costume.
I just hope she is not a brainwashed puppet, again ... so sick and tired of that ...especially now, when they've finally nailed a perfect design for her ... fingers crossed that they have a perfect reason for bringing her back, too ...

Here's an idea...maybe she gets restored, but is only "alive" for a limited time? Like, she only has so much time to find her soul before succumbing to Quan Chi's control again? Its a weak theory with nothing to support it, but its an idea... Or maybe she's just like Stryker and Kabal? Comes in at the end, does her thing, shit happens, game ends.
it's impossible for me to imagine NRS bringing her back without any particular reason ... just cause she's ' popular ' ... she has to fit in the story somehow ... and tremendously ... :) like kung lao should ...

I'd like to think her trip to the afterlife left her in a more...enlightened state. Especially regarding Raiden and his shenanigans.

With Liu still MIA, I'm holding onto my theory that Kitana, Kang, and possibly even Kung Lao have cooked up a plot to either replace Raiden with Kang, or just flat out destroy him.

Has anyone considered the idea that maybe she ISN'T brought back to life?

Everyone has just assumed she will be because we've seen gameplay of her alive and all, but who's to say that has any impact on the story?

As an example, Liu Kang's body was his zombie main in MKD... his alt, on the other hand, was his classic living self, but his alt didn't actually have a place in the story. It was just there for fans. He remained dead throughout.

We see her in the trailer as an undead revenent in what looks to be a completely different costume from the two we've seen.

Has no one considered the possibility that she remains an undead revenant throughout the story, and the living costume is just fan service?

I mean it's not like NRS told us already that some of the costumes we believed to be mains were actually alts or anything... oh wait...

But the Mournful variation would suggest she's back to life.

A Dark Alliance made up of Raiden's former most powerful warriors who want to hunt him down for his mistakes? That would sound badass. Maybe Liu hang breaks off from the White Lotus and forms his own rogue clan to deal with the Red Dragon and otherworldly invaders.

I`m assuming for now that Kitana was not part of the initial batch of resurrections. If some of the dead were left behind, it stands to reason the Earthrealmers would try to get them back, even if it took years. Kitana is usually sort of a key to things, so she`d be a high priority (If that`s the case, if even after that, Jade was inaccessible...ouch).

Either that, or Mileena impersonated Kitana again and it went terribly wrong. tongue

Nah I thought the implication was that WHATEVER was going on with Jade she isn't active. That's what I meant by escape death.

If that's the case then NRS better be prepared to deal with a lot of upset fanboys.
Y'know, I had a thought, I would imagine that with the Outworld Civil War, maybe finding and saving Kitana becomes a priority for the good guys (since well, they'd rather have her as the ruler of Outworld/Edenia than Mileena or Kotal Kahn I'm sure)

No I don't think so. Nothing would make sense if this was the case. Why have a Mournful Variation? What about the intro/dialogue between her and Quan Chi? At the same time, what about the intro between Scorpion and Kitana, which implies that she's still serving Quan Chi. ??????

That's definitely one of Kitana's costumes, but what if they ended up giving it to Mileena? The color of that outfit is definitely purple in the trailer.

This trailer answered a lot of questions but at the same time it created more questions regarding Kitana.

I honestly have no clue what is going on with Kitana in the story of MKX. I just hope they give her the important role that she deserves and they give justice to her one-of-a-kind character.

I'm telling ya! I'm so for this. And it's not that it has to be a quest for "vengeance" or even "oh, the good guys are bad guys now", but it's obvious that not everyone is going to stand behind Raiden. Even if it wasn't COMPLETELY his fault, he still has made mistakes. Costly ones.

Also starting to think Fujin isn't going to back him up for much longer either.

Assassin: Kitana as Quan Chi's servant.
Royal Storm: Maybe she becomes the new queen of Edenia?
Mournful: Probably comes after resurrection.

Intro quotes suggest she's on good terms with Kung Lao and is pissed off at Quan Chi.
