A character who was barely touched by players in MK9 and been rehashed in nearly every game - this is the first character who will actively PISS ME OFF if he wastes a character slot. I'll be especially annoyed if we see him over Tanya, Havik, Fujin, Bo Rai etc. A totally unecessary inclusion. Did NRS mis-read the fan community this time around??

Your entitled to your opinion. Has Shang tsung been the most easily beaten, overused villain in MK history? Maybe. Nobody with talent honestly plans on using Kano online competitively either, but that hasnt stopped them from putting Kano in MKX. Its a vicious cycle.

Wrong. There are quite a few people who say that Kano looks the best to them gameplay wise, they really stepped up to the plate this time imo. Shang would NOT be a wasted roster slot by any means, and Kano isn't either.

Interestingly, I never met a Shang player online. Not a single one. I guess, Shang's a bottom 10 character. But so was Kano.
I really liked Shang in Deadly Alliance. His "snake" fighting style was awesome. He was too complicated to use in MK9, but I think he has enough potential to be awesome in MKX. Look what they did with Kano! Have a little faith in NRS.

Shang's more.. Mid tier I'd say. Definitely not a bad character, but not great either. He was really fun to use too.
I loved Shang in MK9, but the worst thing was his fatalities.. By far the worst.

If that's the case Dragon Ball Z Xenoverse wasted a character slot on Démigra who closely resembles Shinnok. Démigra is also a Demon God. *cough (shinnok) Lucifer, fallen elder god cough*
Insert:
Shang has always been a top 5 character in my roster. My favorite shang tsung "gameplay" wise on a 3d scale is and always will be... mkvsdcu shang. They redeemed him this game even if people didn't like it.
As for Kano he may not of been combo savvy. But next to noob he had one of the best Keep away game styles BOTH in mkvsdcu and mk9. Knife spam full screen. Jumpers ate up ball. He is ruthless and imho one of mk's best pound for pound. Speaking of... since mk9 wasn't a 3d plane you couldn't side step his spam. Thus making his pressure and guessing game that much better.

Power to the Shang.
Shang had a good run, it just pisses me off how the quintessential character of the original trilogy got relegated to a chew toy.
I would not mind trading him in as playable for someone from Deadly Alliance or Deception though. His fate needs to be adressed.

Of course you are referring to online play, but you don't know how many did play him offline.

Oh waaaaaaah! Would you like a Wahbulance with that?

Apart from him only missing two games, Shang is a staple character...deal with it!
I agree. I hope he stays dead, but his fate (along with everyone's) needs to be addressed.
Shang has been going downhill ever since the creation of QuanChi, who uses real sorcerer/black magic attacks.
Storywise, it would be neat if Shang Tsung was responsible for resurrecting the fallen Earth warriors, to get revenge on QuanChi.

I liked him as well in MKDC. His coolest iteration was Deadly Alliance, in my opinion. MK9 was his worst, though I did like his old man look.

This would be a good twist. I like it.

I agree, no clue why this forum decided to start hating on Shang all of a sudden

Don't get me wrong here...I have mentioned that Shang was a disaster in MK9, but that doesn't stop me from liking him or wanting him in MKX.
All hail Shang Tsung!!!

Shang is one of the best characters in all of MK and I would be pumped to see him included. He would immediately go into the pot for my mains and secondaries and would get me infinitely more hyped than Kitana and Kung Lao

Yeah, I'm not understanding the whole anti-Shang Tsung sentiment out of nowhere, but everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
I definitely wouldn't call him a waste on the roster. But I can understand people's gripes with him being "overused", but to be fair, those same people better also be complaining about Sub-Zero and Scorpion.
I personally loved Shang in MK9. He was a zoning character with slow normals that you couldn't use mindlessly. You really had to plot your fireball scheme and know the opponent's character in order to do well with him. Maybe that's why people didn't like him.
In any event, I look forward to the possible announcement. And, if this indeed some kind of mistake, no big deal. I'll just rock it out with Kitana or possibly one of the new characters. Steady as she goes, y'all. We're in the home stretch!
